Trust the fickle Melbourne weather to spice things up & keep them interesting.
Unfortunately, my guys/car are nowhere near the lead :grumpy:

Glad that Goulding is okay. That was a scary crash, I cringed big time when that tyre went down. :scared:

Aw man, such a bummer for Canto and Winterbottom. I was really hoping the rain would clear out to put those on slicks into contention but mother nature was having none of that.

Argh. Why can't DJRTP copy a strategy? Just do what RBRA or PRA do.

Edit: I take that back. :D

I'd bet the odds are pretty good that the #1 will be on that 88 car again next year. Hopefully someone can get around them soon...

Edit: well that'll do it.

So, if Sandown does go in 2020, where should the 500 be held?

Ideally, it would be held in Victoria, as there is currently one endurance race in each of the three biggest states. However, Phillip Island is really more of a motorcycle circuit, and the 500 wasn't great when it was there. Winton has had a troubled history, so the 500 might reinvigorate the venue, but it would probably need an upgrade to its facilities. The only other alternatives would be Calder Park, but the circuit would need a major overhaul; an Albert Park, but I don't think that the locals would be too impressed. Failing that, there was a proposal to move the Grand Prix to Avalon Airport a few years ago which never gained traction despite the support of Lindsay Fox.

Otherwise, how about moving the 500 to New Zealand? Pukekohe is too short to be practical, but it would be an ideal opportunity to establish a second race - maybe at Hampton Downs or Highlands - and with a bit of forethought, could easily work in the calendar (ie, run Pukekohe as the final sprint round before the 500).

My best bet would be Phillip Island, but it wouldn't be my first pick. I agree it should be in one of the eastern states, preferably Victoria but there really aren't many places to choose from.

New Zealand would be pretty cool, but might be a bit of an annoyance getting th extra parts, tyres, etc. needed for an endurance race over there. As a South Australian, Tailem Bend would be cool though, a decent almost halfway point between Melbourne and Adelaide.

Whoo hoo. How late was The Future on the brakes!

Awesome stuff between GT and McLaughlin.

Is it just me, or are the HRTs debadged? I have just noticed that Tander's badge is blacked out. I haven't seen Courtney's car, so I can't confirm.

There's not enough time. 40minutes to go. This is it!

Edit: crazy to reverse.

It looked like Courtney still had the badge glistening on the front of the car, as he flew by the awkwardly placed car of Heimgartner.

I noticed that too. It was on at the start of the race though. I assume GT has been introducing the front of the #2 to a few cars along the way lol.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. There's a reason why a bump and run is also called getting Tandered.

Yeah, looks like it's just popped off. Wasn't happy to see Lowndes' lock up. He did well to get it out the other side but he seemed fast, he would've been harassing SVG by now.

Terrible luck for Tander. Wonder if they will let him stay out.

Aww, nooooo. That sucks. Handle it now before getting a flag with 5 minutes to go.

You've got to be kidding me. :(

Todd Kelly adds yet another save of the year to his credit.

The longest 4 minutes ever.

Edit: awesome.
