Put it this way, if she can be ahead of where Wood is by this time next year, job done. If she finishes ahead of a BJR or on par with Goldsworthy, job done.

Ingall said the Nissan is down on power. He mentioned the car works better up the front of the field. He's the expert, but the cars weren't bad at Hidden Valley. The Nissans showed their speed in traffic. Strategy and qualifying is killing them.
Though on Hidden Valley, only half relies solely on Power, the rest is technical cornering.

In Traffic isn't exactly reliable source for power because you have stuff like draft to consider, any car that is behind can get ahead if they have good draft.

IMO, their pit strategy is only thing they can depend on to compete normally with the rest consistently.

Pit strategy is really all any team can depend on. The field qualifies less than a second from P1-P26.

Nissan say they have excellent tyre life. DJRTP have excellent tyre life, but their strategy fails. BJR have good cars, but they are up and down with strategy at times.
Volvo are excellent all-around. Just have bad luck. We see how well both cars are doing.
Would Pye, Courtney, McLaughlin, Moffat do better? Hard to tell. I thought the cars showed promise. As I mentioned, Ingall felt the car is easy to drive, but lacks power. Would a top tier driver make a difference?

I think Simona shows promise like Richie Stanaway. Premat came good in his 2nd year and last year. Never mind he's in the best car. Look at him now. I wouldn't write her off. We'll see what she can do next month.

A lack of driver input isn't something I'm bothered about, stick shifts are pretty much dying in normal cars in favour of either paddle shifts or automatic. It does make race cars feel a little old despite promoting "new" technologies and cars if they still kept the old way of changing gears.

Besides, the regulations of VASC are becoming more and more about the car and less about the driver as the years have gone by.

I loved the H-pattern days of all cars. I still like 4-speed manuals. I think it wouldn't be too bad to have paddles on a Supercar. Just continue to build the cars without driver aids.

The 8-speed stuff is outrageous to me. I don't know if paddles would change the characteristics of a Supercar. Do the quicker shifts help the balance in threshold braking and cornering? Are paddles better mated to the Gen2 turbo engines than a stick shift? Other than NASCAR, Supercars were the last major racing series to switch to a sequential shifter.

Its touring car racing, hardly the technical limit should be 6 speed H patterns allround imo.

Not bad.

That's really nice. Liking it, a lot.

So much better than the livery they ran last year.

I guess the design looks better on the Altima.

I prefer the design on the Ford. Altima doesn't look that good in general IMO and this just adds to it.

Since VASC are sponsoring Simons, should be interesting to see if they do different liveries each event.

I'm concerned about Simons being another driver who is isn't anything special skill wise and only is making it and staying here because she is female. If she actually shows off any skills at Bathurst and next season, good for her and I'd welcome her to stay, but especially since she is in a Nissan of all vehicles, not quite sure, especially on a power heavy track like Mount Panorama.

I surely hope she has the skills to back up this sponsoring of VASC and hype.

She is solely getting the gig because 1. She is a female, VASC want to sponsor a female and 2. She does have a pedigree in motorsport.

I suspect she will be backfield for the first year as its quite hard for new people to be good right away in this series, but afterwards she might be pretty good.

I haven't seen her drive a touring car though apart from last years bathurst so there isn't much info to go by.

Hey, she could be as bad as Dahlgren or as good as Premat(when he wasn't involved in collisions). Maro Engel was ok, he was in a bad car.

We'll surely hear about her views on the Altima vs the FG X.

If she is going with Nissan next year, I wouldn't be surprised if she is a bit bias compared to Russell Ingalls comparison of Altima vs. everything else.

I already live an hour drive away from it, so I'm happy :D

I don't think that they're actually sponsoring her directly; rather, I think they put together a sponsorship package from interested companies to ensure that funding was there. It sounds like the Racing Steps Foundation in Britain, where the organisation finds companies that want to be involved in motorsport, but don't necessarily know where to begin, and so RSF identify young talent and use the money to manage their careers.

I really like the look of the new Newcastle circuit. Reminds me of the old IMSA street circuits for some reason.

That layout is insane. The elevation change and bumpiness of the streets is similar to Monaco.

It looks like Adelaide run in reverse with Sochi bolted onto the end of it.

I guess I'd better start making plans to visit my family next November.
