Yeah. These journalists speculating and sharing insight. One mentions while Holden not committing beyond 2016, Nissan are dangling their V8 program and GT3 program in front of Roland Dane. Where is he getting that info?

Could be wishful thinking or making a mountain out of a molehill? Is this an expansion or goodbye Kelly gang?
One thing is for sure, it would want to be one helluva number for RD to walk away from Holden and all his inventory at 888.

Pop quiz: When was the last time Lowndes drove a Nissan in competition?

Or it could be Roland Dane humouring Nissan just long enough to secure full works backing from Holden and become the official Holden tram.

The Auto Action guy was pressing hard about McLaughlin heading for DJRTP. I don't know about that. The FG X seems tricky. For him to learn how to drive that car, would be a step back.

At the same time, Mostert, Pye and Waters, are making the FG X work. Frosty was some-timey last year and still doesn't appear that speedy. So, it's still possible McLaughlin could be quick in an FG X. However, the S60 is more his style.

Personally, I think someone possessing Scotty's talents could be quick in anything he sits in. All he'd need is an engineer on the same page & he'd be up the front.

I'm not exactly sure what you talking about, you seem to be making it out like the FG X is overly hard, when to be honest, pretty much every driver who has driven it so far has been up the pointy need at least once, apart from Chris Pither. Even Heimgartner had 3rd place qualifying position for one race. I also think the FG X overrated Dave Reynolds too. I'm not saying he is a bad driver, but not championship contender quality if it wasn't for the FG X.

Everyone says the package is good. Yet, they say the car has to be driven a special way. Ingall, Coulthard, Frosty, Ambrose(notice its the veterans). The younger drivers just get on with it. Waters just says it's not much different to the FG II. All I'm saying is, we all know the car is fast but, when drivers mention how to extract the most, they say they need to get their head around it. Sure, coming from Holden(and Reynolds to the VF II) to the FG X will take getting used to. Holdsworth from the Erebus back to a Holden as well.

The Holdens are known for their drovers going deep under brakes. We've seen it every race. The Nissans and Volvos are good all-round. Yet, when it comes to the FG X, its about searching for turn in. Then, "driving it a special way" comes up.

Aren't the Fords the only ones still running around with an iron block?

Well you had to see the name change coming with the new rules. Can't keep V8 in there when the focus is on accepting fewer cylinder counts.

True, but it's just so generic.

Makes me wonder if other countries would want to run their own Supercars series.
You're thinking of it as a franchise? They have tried in the past - a batch of cars were sold to Bahrain, Qatar or the UAE (I can't remember who) in the hopes of starting up a ready-made series. It didn't work.

That said, TCR has had success in kick-starting regional championships.

James Phelps is reporting that Volvo have signed off on a new deal that will see them remain on the grid for the next three years. Link.
Well this clears up one option for Scotty Mac. He knows what's on offer at his existing team & I guess now the conversation turns numerical.

I say Nissan become a supplier. During the Inside Supercars discussuson, the panel were expressing the benefit of having separate teams for Nissan and HRT. Like the Norton Hornets and the Kelly brothers. That was awesome to watch. I think Nissan supplying to another squad would do so well for one-upmanship. As is stands, the 4 car squad appears so distant. Two NISMO cars and two Sengled or CarSales or whatever, is a good option.

I remember a little of that.

It's a thought that is probably not a good one- right now anyway.
