It's rapidly becoming a Porsche Cup series...and don't get me wrong, I love Porsche and the way they provide a heap of prepped cars for teams, but it kills the competition. I think the Cayman GT4 was hugely affordable...which kills the time needed for most teams to build an actual car from scratch.

I'd love to see a big push for GT4 cars like we've seen in GT3 over the past few years. See a big upsurge in race-prepped cars from at least 5-8 manufacturers. I doubt it though.

OMG could you imagine!!! I'm getting wet just thinking about it :lol: GT4 cars are my favorite racecars by far :D. I'm very sad about CTSCC this year.

Aston Martin and Porsche would probably be more than happy, being the customer racing kings so to speak. If IMSA let the GS class be open to any FIA GT4 reg car, things would probably take a turn for the better.
 
It's certainly helped PWC with their numbers. It seems like they've had quite a few interesting new entrants this year.

Isn't that basically what the Mustang and Camaro were last year?
 
I'm not sure. I know the Mustangs - when they debuted, they only had two. So it's not like Ford was pumping out those particular cars. While Ford and Chevy have "track oriented" models of the Camaro and Mustang they're not selling fully prepped GT4 cars ala Porsche. If I recall, the buy-in price for the GT4 Cayman was something like $158K? Which seems like a hell of a good deal for a turn-key motorsport application.

I'd just like to see the bigger numbers for GT3 translate into GT4 - unfortunately this won't happen because we're not looking at top tier luxury manufacturers trying to prove stuff.

EDIT: Does anyone know where the new Miata race package fits in? I know they were selling Miata-spec cars complete for $53-55K which seems pretty fantastic --- I guess that's above ST and below GS so it has no real place here?

I don't think there's ever been a better lineup of factory supported production-derived GT cars in the history of sports car racing.

Third year doing those as well as ST Pete GP. Last year was the perfect storm where The Gatornationals were on a separate weekend as well so I did all 4!
