Daytona is an interesting race outright. I think for Sebring in particular, they should leave everything alone and see how things go. If Sebring becomes a blowout for a couple teams, then maybe they should start pegging back and make BoP adjustments after the fact.

I agree..it is unfortunate that we often see big BOP changes post-Daytona that cripple teams for the rest of the season. I think this is inevitable, but I'd like to see that change.

First Level 5 and now O'Gara(both in GTD and both after the Rolex 24), I'm starting to think Bell and Sweedler might be this series own bad luck brians.

If only that team had a small loan of a Million Dollars.

I can get upping the DPs, but they should have just left the Ligers completely alone. I like them giving the Mazdas a break to give them a better chance while they're still working on it, but I'm not too thrilled with seeing the DeltaWing get nerfed to hell. It actually was competitive for the first time in a while, and it gets punished for that?

I kind of wish that they would have left everything alone for Sebring (especially in GTLM- that class was competitive all throughout and each car had a key advantage in different parts of Daytona), but they might as well start adjusting now, I guess. And I can only imagine that the Lambos will get nerfed to all hell come the time to announce the adjustments for those.

The incoming hellish BOP for the Lamborghinis in Sebring will make them raging cows than bulls.

So the changes I expected or thought should happened did happen, all but that of the BMW who I feel shouldn't have it.
Yeah looking at the boost tables compared to Daytona the BMW's (both classes) are getting a big boost. The Ligier Judd won the pole last year with a 1:51.1 and the Corvette DP's were all in the low 52's so the changes made to them should get them a second closer at least. I can see the HPD cars dropping into the 1:50 sec range but they will keep the VTEC turned off for the test next week.;)

I hope they don't get too nerfed. There won't be another track like Daytona where the Huracan or any other GT3 car will be able to stretch their legs enough for the Huracan to have an advantage. The Huracan were actually the slowest through the infield I'd imagine. They looked much slower than the Audi and Porsche through the infield.

Only slow thru the bus stop. http://nasportscar.com/bens-analysis-2016-rolex-24/

That BOP is literally only for the 2 car (as noted when they say "The winning car").

The 2's best lap was a tenth and a half quicker than that of the 60 (which to me has a worse lineup than the 2), the 60's best lap was still half a second clear of the fastest DP, but only the 2 gets an adjustment. I don't see the point of taking a BoP on one car when the other car also spanked the field when its running. Yet they the DW got a massive BoP when it was half a tenth quicker than the fastest DP.

I don't really see why the DW needed a massive BoP either. It was running pretty even with the field in the Rolex 24. Man, I just hope that it wasn't too much of a downgrade :nervous:

The 2 and 60 are exactly the same, and have the same BOP.

Straight from the article:

While no weight or restrictor changes have been made to the Ligier JS P2 Honda, the Rolex 24-winning car sees a reduction top-level boost.

Seems to be reffering directly to the 2 car.

Naw man, you're taking it way too literally. By "Rolex 24 winning car" it means the Ligier-Honda package, not the individual #2 car. The article is saying that although the Ligier won't have any weight or restrictor changes, it will have reduced top end boost.

This caught me...

"Also yet to be determined is the configuration of the Lamborghini Huracan GT3, with IMSA still evaluating the engines it impounded following last month’s Rolex 24."

Is this the standard motorsport post-race "impounding" or did they seize the Lambo engines because of a certain reason/suspicion? What's going on there?

Let me guess, the same morons that stole a cup car last year are behind this.

Also, is it wrong for me that its not surprising to see this happen in Florida?

Why on earth don't they have GPS trackers on their trucks? It seems like those would be a given on any commercial vehicle, especially one that's as expensive as a semi that hauls over a million dollars in equipment on race weekends.

Common misconception "big and obvious...no one could steal it, and why would they?". That sucks...though I do question what in the hell you'd do with something like that.

Part out the truck and sell what equipment was in the back.

Or there's the more likely scenario that they were just high/drunk and it sounded like fun at the time and will just ditch it on the side of some country road after the fun wears off.

In 2014, the same thing happened but it was the Corvette DP with that gap and it was the "worst BoP ever" and something had to be done...

I don't really see why the DW needed a massive BoP either. It was running pretty even with the field in the Rolex 24. Man, I just hope that it wasn't too much of a downgrade :nervous:
It was way faster than anything other than the Ligier Honda in a straight line. It needed to be nerfed.

The Ligier Honda package is insanely too fast at the current spec. Its top end got hurt which is what needed to be done. I think the article is talking about the car just referring back to the fact it won and not that it got pegged back and the 60 didn't. That would be success ballast rather than Bop

Part it out. The motor and transmission in that truck are worth several thousand each; motor could probably sell for at least $20k

A crew of 2-4 mechanics who know what they're doing, with the right shop, could have that thing torn apart beyond recognition within 24-48 hours pretty easily.

Right, but why steal a very identifiable truck like that...and how would you sell off the components in the back? Seems a very stupid narrow market for most of that stuff (outside of the truck's bits).

Probably because the trailer in the back is an extremely expensive custom design. That would sell for a heck of a lot of money.
