Either he'll buy the book, get off easy, and get arrested again some time down the line, or he's going to get the book chucked at him and he's gone. I have a strong feeling say that he'll be back as a team owner eventually if its the former.

Given all the evidence that that's been gathered along with his previous arrest, I suspect the book could be tossed at him.

Andy finished the Corvette wallpaper a few days ago.

Fail all around, Imsa for just saying yeah that kinda sucks for Max, Wayne for knowingly sending a driver out in a car that was filling up with deadly gasses just to get a few points and a podium, and Max for being to stupid to pit near the end and not try and kill himself. 👎👎👎

These closed cockpit cars need to have CO sensors added as soon as possible, even if they have to go to Home Depot and buy them.

It was Max's idea and by the article it sounds like the team wanted Max to come in and put Ricky in the car and see what they could do to fix the exhaust leak.

First of all congrats to Multimatic and Mosing Mototsports on their class wins.

I would think a mandated air purifying system would be better than just a simple detector. Don't most already use some kind of air system anyway? No matter what is used there is always going to be the risk for the driver's system to fail, especially if the car is damaged.
The detector could only be beneficial to IMSA because the team would do the same thing unless the sanctioning body stood in.
After reading the article it seemed more like the usual 24 @ Daytona for "Max the Ax".

I'll go with the social media instead and I can usually read through most media hype intended for exposure.

This!!! It has probably been overlooked by both IMSA and the ACO and should be a thing,

I've suffered through CO2 poisoning before in a truck, through lack of sleep I just didn't pick up on it, I collapsed not long after arriving at my destination, thankfully not more then a few hundred meters from a hospital, the doctors basically told me that while being a smoker is the worst lifestyle choice I could ever make, the fact that I was a heavy smoker and wound down the window to do so regularly was potentially what saved me,

Disclaimer: DO NOT SMOKE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! IT IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE, HARMFUL TO YOUR HEALTH AND TERRIBLY EXPENSIVE!!!!

I finally got to editing out all of the commercials of the Rolex 24 Faux broadcast, it's sad how much of the race you miss during actual tv coverage if you didn't watch the IMSA stream.

Fox Sports had about 7 hours 52 minutes and 27 seconds with ads on Saturday. On Sunday, they had about 7 hours 59 minutes and 31 seconds with ads. This adds to 15 hours 51 minutes and 58 seconds of total TV coverage out of the 24 hours of racing with commercials.

With commercials removed, the Saturday broadcast was 5 hours 48 minutes and 45 seconds, there was about 2 hours 3 minutes and 42 seconds of commercials. With ads removed for the Sunday broadcast, it was 5 hours 54 minutes and 2 seconds or 2 hours 5 minutes and 29 seconds of ads.

This totals to 11 hours 42 minutes and 47 seconds of coverage without ads or 4 hours 9 minutes 11 seconds of commercials.

tl;dr: 1/4 of Faux's coverage of the Rolex 24 was commercials. That's pathetic.

And that's why I watched the IMSA stream where it was 24 solid hours of racing. (I recorded the race only for keeping)

I just finished watching all of the coverage posted on YouTube (I don't have TV here so I just waited a few days and watched all of it over the course of a week).

  • The usual BOP issues surfaced which is a shame. (no real way around it without full races prior to the first big event)
  • It's good to see the LMP2 style cars now on pace (admittedly, much faster) than DPs. If toned down, might be a good competition this year.
  • Wonderful stuff in GTLM.
  • GTD was excellent.
  • Sad to see the Deltawing crash (and I think they really f-ed up that entire caution...nearly two minutes sitting blacked out on the exit to the corner --- the officials have access to camera feeds, this was a huge cock up) as it had some real pace.
  • Pipo Derani definitely has a future if he keeps up that kind of performance.
  • Exciting finish in several classes.
  • I'm not sure who should be at fault for the Wayne Taylor Racing nonsense...if your car is leaking exhaust fumes into the cab, fix it or stop. That's a safety issue. Unacceptable.
  • The Ford GTs were disastrous...but I didn't expect too much from them.
  • I was actually okay with most of Greg Creamer's announcing - I normally can't stand him, but he must get tired of shouting when doing long race events.
  • Overall I really enjoyed it and was glad to see competitive driving in most classes.

When I read that article I immediately misread Hyperbaric Chamber as Hyperbolic Time Chamber.

As it is impossible to see all the action on track with whatever means are available I don't think I really missed much if anything by watching the Fox coverage. Like many I have no access to Fox2. I also had the IMSA feed. I believe I see more from the leaderboard and social media that actually pertains to the race than watching the video sources.

The commercial time seems about par for the TV industry in the USA as a whole.
Conan episodes minus commercials are only 42 minutes. That equals 30% ads
Treehouse Masters is usually 42, about the same as Conan.
NBC's Saturday Night Live's 1.5 hour show is only 64 - 65 minutes long. That equals 28% ads
NBC's Blindspot 43min
CBS's Hawaii Five-O 43min
CBS's Blue Bloods 41min
and so on

Be happy for the stream and don't watch TV, that's your choice, perfect. Unfortunately the streamed video and audio did not match at times but I like having twice the information at the same time.

This years TV package is better than ever since the merger. That is to be commended not disparaged.

I'm very curious to see what BOP changes surface as a result of the 24 Hours of Daytona. I'm expecting a slight penalty possibly on the Corvette GTLM (maaaybe), and definitely a hindrance to the Honda powered prototypes. It sounded like everyone thought the GT3 Lambos were way too fast so they'll probably get reduced also.

In regards to the GTD Lambos, now that Daytona is over, do you think their top speed advantage will make much of a difference at the remaining tracks on the calander?

Nah, things should be more even like a normal GT3 reg' class now. The Aston, Porsche and Viper should catch up. The Turner Uber Panzer's I'm not sure about.

There might be some minor tweaks after the Sebring test next week in GTD but keep in mind that Daytona spec is unique and does not apply to any other Imsa race on the schedule.

Definitely could at certain tracks.

Here's a question...the GTD stuff is essentially GT3 spec, can there be a BOP adjustment by IMSA, or would the BOP adjustment be an FIA level thing? Ie. can the team hide behind "well this is our approved GT3 spec..." or is the IMSA governing body able to modulate that to balance stuff out if they see inconsistencies?

We've seen big BOP adjustments almost every single year following Daytona, and sometimes with terrible results (ie. cars penalized for winning the 24 become almost obsolete the rest of the season).

IMSA BoP, they do the same to the GTE spec GTLM cars. And to be fair, SCCA has their own BoP for PWC IIRC.

Generally the IMSA BoP has been quicker than Blancpains. The top speeds they were reaching were close to 290 at Daytona according to my friends driving. That's a whole lot quicker than the 275 Blancpain saw on the Mistral Straight in Paul Ricard.

Hmm, surprised they didn't just use Blancpain BoP then honestly. Could have helped with the GTLM/GTD speed similarities lol.

Lambo will probably get pegged back. They had pace at the roar, but still got a BoP break.

Expect the Corvette DP and Ford DP to get all the upgrades back (they ran basically pre-merger spec) and I bet the HPD Prototypes (running with a DP engine)get nerfed as well.

GTLM will be whatever IMSA gets paid to do as always

That's really weird because IMSA spec is around 100kg heavier and around 30bhp down on what official GT3 spec is,

The Viper for example is 500bhp and 1300kg GT3 spec,
IMSA spec is 460bhp at 1430KG,

Stupid hover boards. Whoever thought taking a skate board and mounting the wheels sideways was a good idea should be beaten over the head. http://myemail.constantcontact.com/...IDENT.html?soid=1119086368286&aid=lGZqAkab3do

By break you mean the +20kg that was added and the -2.00 mm reduction in the air restrictor after the Roar. They did get 1L of extra fuel so maybe that is what confused you.

WTF are you talking about? They ran with the same BOP as 2015 Daytona and as far as I can find the same hodge podge of aero bits from 2014 and 2015. Only the Dinan Riley has a mandated aero part from 2013. http://www.imsa.com/sites/default/files/uploads/IMSA Tech Bulletin #15-03.pdf

The HR35TT "DP" engine is a stroked P2 HR28TT with different motor mounts http://www.racer.com/imsa/item/101308-imsa-twin-turbo-honda-dp-engine-ready-for-testing and was developed in the Acura TLX GT. Honda also stuck the same HR35TT in the Baja 1000 Ridgeline this year and won it's class. Your "DP" HPD raced all of 1hr 26 min at Sebring in 2014, was parked until August at Road America were it lasted 2 laps until the project was abandoned.

As for nerfed I think they will keep the Ligier HPD at the +10kg 950kg spec from Daytona and will likely leave the boost table alone for a few races to see how the new spec performs at the point and shoot tracks were the HR28TT struggled vs the DP's with it's lack of torque.

They will be at Sebring, but in ACO spec. I have seen several pictures of this test and can't tell what brand of tires they are using.
