Sport1.de will have all the 6hr race broadcasts online for free. The thing is it's geo blocked so if you want to watch it on that site, you'll have to find a work around.

Thanks for that, didn't knew that before. Now we have two channels here both showing the WEC live and on free TV. What a time to be alive.

I've used a VPN app and it works for the sport 1.just switch your location to Germany or the countries is allowed for broadcasting and it's ok

For those with a subscription to the WEC season you can now watch the race again on the Website in one hour chunks.

30 cars for Spa, 3rd Toy, and Ligier, and the 2nd Alpine.

Is anyone going?

I'm dying to go myself, but I'd hate to be there without anyone I know to share the experience with...

Tickets are only 46 euros for all three days, parking included, and it's only an hour's drive for me.

Do it. I've been there in 2015 and it was absolutely worth it. I'd join you but I'm in the late phase of my master's thesis :/ Plus, if you are alone, you can do whatever you want and go wherever you want ;)

Some German magazines are reporting that they (FIA/ACO) want to push the GTE even more by giving them a 1 hour quali/sprint race a day before the 6h race. By now just an idea but who knows. I like it, because the battles in GTE are always nice to watch, especially considering even more manufacturers joining in the next years.

Do you have any tips for a first time visitor?

Do you have any tips for a first time visitor?

If you want to follow the race action, I'd recommend the grandstand in front of the old pit boxes; There is a big screen where you can follow the race and you can see Eau Rouge, the drivers did some nice moves there. For the start, the grandstand on the main straight of course, there should also be a screen. But you can also follow the track around, there are footways all around the track. And take some time to go to the paddock. Especially the teams from the lower categories (everything except the WEC teams) often don't have a tight schedule and they are more often than not willing to talk to visitors about their cars and the races. At least that's what I was experiencing last year and this year as a Team Manager of a GT4 team as we are always the lower category.
What you absolutely must do is go to the bottom of Eau Rouge, you can get very close to the track from the grandstands there; Then you can see how steep it really is. It looks steep in TV, but that is nothing in comparison to real life. It's even more impressive when you are standing on top of it, but I fear that might not be possible that weekend.

Awesome, thanks! Are there any possibilities to see the cars from up close? As in pitlane access or something similar?

Only if there is a grid walk just before the race or an open pitlane. That is usually on race day in the morning and is an official point on the timetable. You can get that on the wec website a few days before. Otherwise, you can only access the pits when you have a pitlane pass (which is only for teams and their guests.
In case you go on the grid walk, visitors have to leave 10 minutes before the start. Around the pit lane exit is a small tunnel, it's around 2 minutes walk from grid to the grandstand at the main straight

Hello! first time i'll be posting in here since i've been following this thread for a very long time now lol

regarding the WEC 6hr of Spa.. This will also be my very first time that i'll be visiting such an awesome and great event, never ever been to such races before but think I might be in for a treat.. however, I've been to the 24hr of Spa quite a few times now and last year I tried to go to many spots as possible. Last year I tried to go the top of Eau Rouge but also at the bottom wich was just great to see the cars speeding up the hill, Kemmel straight is also nice see but I also went to Pouhon (double left hander), massive crowd to see there and also a beautifull point to see seeing the cars storming down Pouhon so think that are the places i've visited last year. Though I do believe you'll need a permission for some places.. correct me if i'm wrong though and if this will be the case for the 6hr.

It's Motorsport.com, but it's something to drink a beer too I suppose.

https://www.motorsport.com/wec/news/is-this-what-bmw-s-2018-wec-car-will-look-like-899225/

BMW M8 hinted as potential GTE...well...guess somebody at Motorsport.com is on more acid than usual.

Well, the new BMW 8 series is basically the new premium 6 series, so that would make sense. Here's a video (with German commentary): http://www.autobild.de/videos/video-bmw-8er-erlkoenig-2018-11229221.html

A german motorsport magazin also did report the M8 as base model for the GTE. Both, GTE as well as the 8 series coupe to debut in 2018.

Toyota is more like the Buffalo Bills of the 90's. Snake bit. Keep showing greatness, but then something weird as hell happens and it all goes up in (sometimes literal) flames.
Maybe more like The Curse of the Bambino, in reverse. They shouldn't have taken that Yamaha engine to make the 2000GT.

I think it's simple, use the smaller 2 series for GT4, 3/4 series for GT3, 5 series or 8 series whatever they want I dodn't care really for GTE.

Doesn't make sense to use two different cars for GTE and GT3. Manufactures try to use the same car (for the most part) as both classes are fairly similar at this point except for the engine regs.

Perhaps they're building based on the background whispers of the GT3/ GTE combined regulations that we've been hearing about for the last few years?

Though I've always kinda believed that all GT4/ GT3/ GT2/ GT1/ GTE cars should be different from the same manufacturer, showcase more models of what's on offer from the manufacturer,

What those talks started up again? I thought we were done with that 3 years ago?
