That pavilion is one of the most sought after corporate boxes, which could be moved but it probably wouldn't be so popular if the section wasn't so crash prone. It is a great bit of track though, a little bit of me misses sitting in the grandstand there (as opposed to Turn 8) the track limits issue seems to be more of a modern issue so I'm not sure what's changed.
Even if the pavillion had to stay, I'm sure the first corner could be tightened a bit and the second corner removed entirely. It's not really a passing point, but it does set up the run to Turn 4.

I think I misunderstood - if you're suggesting turning the section into somewhat of a double spec corner, then that might work. GRM build their own chassis', although I think they got a bit of help from Erebus or Walkinshaw this year due to the whole Volvo fiasco not being resolved until very late. CSR run a Triple 8 car for Holdsworth.
GRM have built their own chassis entirely in-house and use Walkinshaw engines.

Triple 8 build a lot of the Holden chassis on the grid, I believe they build the BJR cars and LDM cars, assuming they're built identical is what I doubt,

But Triple 8 have been insanely great in most series they enter, they were extraordinarily good with the Astra in the BTCC, their Z4 GT3 program wasn't so good, but if they did build and run a GT3 car from scratch I'd expect that to spank after 2 seasons of R&D

They have supplied a lot of cars, but there are still areas of open development that teams have to figure out themselves.

Example is Tekno getting a full current spec 888 car, compared to CSR running a 888 car that is a generation or two behind which was a big thing for them last year. (Money being the big factor in what Tekno gets vs what CSR gets, no doubt).

BJR build their own chassis but IIRC, get suspension designs from 888.

So whilst yes, 888 do supply plenty of equipment to the field, the cars are far from being identical.

There was also the Penske / PRA relationship, where initially Penske went their own way, then changing to identical PRA spec cars and then when completely the opposite direction again.

Another example is the Walkinshaw cars having a completely different package to the 888 cars, despite both being Holdens.

I'm fairly certain that the big development area is the suspension uprights. I'm not technically minded enough to be able to explain it all, but there is definitely a lot of money to spent in that area...remember the FPR twin spring setup?

They're most likely not. Also we know they build a good portion of the chassis that wasn't the point of my post. I was specifically talking about how T8 capitalized on something for years that others haven't. Even the other chassis builder who was closer to holden than anyone Walkinshaw

What other programs, I've read that the other T8 isn't the same as the Aussie one.

T8 Australia started out as part of the team that ran Vauxhalls in the BTCC. They bought Briggs Motorsport, a small privateer team. As they started to expand their Australian operations, they split off from the British team.

Whincup has escaped being penalised for the Winterbottom incident.

In other news, Roland Dane was spotted walking out of race control just a few minutes ago after mysteriously disappearing for 4 or so hours...

You're going too fast down into there to do anything about that corner, imo. You'd need to remove that pavilion, and use the space it occupies as a gravel trap to do anything about turning the chicane into a normal corner, I feel.

They'll never get rid of it though, it's the perfect corner for the slo-mo cameras.

Not to be outdone, the Australian GT race has seen an even bigger and more expensive accident.

Isn't that a given with the GT boys in Adelaide?
Honestly, I usually don't watch all of the support races. It's only because I am feeling a bit ill this weekend that I am watching them now.

Don't know what Rick did to his car last night, but they better undo it before the race. Hoping the DJR cars can put up a fight in the race, really not looking forward to a Triple 8 1-2.

It's alright. There's likely to be a safety car so one of them will have to double stack. I guess that's a little better than a 1-2. I know I'm one of the few here who's fond of Vam Gisbergen, but even I'm getting a bit tired of this!

Much better stuff from Pye in qualifying, just missing out on the shootout. Hopefully both Penske cars can keep the pressure on T8 during the race.

And what the hell happened to Rick? He's gone from a top five car to nowhere overnight.

Lowndes really needs to sort out his qualifying pace or he'll be left behind very early this year.

Nissan is also nowhere today.

What the hell was going on with that start to the Super2 race? Seems like no one knew what to do, even the officials.

It appears to have been a fault with the lights. They're amending the running order, by which they're putting Dumbrell in the lead and leaving everyone else where they were.

Absolutely stoked for Hazelwood to get his first win!! I did a hot lap with him at Phillip Island last year and it was fantastic. Great guy and great family and team. Super happy!!

Hopefully DJRTP won't trip over themselves or get another bogus penalty so Van Gisbergen doesn't run away with the race again.

McLaughlin's penalty didn't cost him the race. A podium, possibly, but not the race.

I've just heard from someone with a few connections in the paddock that Ludo Lacroix has been rather chipper this weekend, solely due to the fact that he's actually allowed to talk to people outside of his team this year. Just further proof that Roland Dane isn't the most pleasant person to work for.

Fox Sports keep cutting to him in the DJR garage. He gets very animated dyring Coulthard's laps.

All 6 Fords are in the top 10.
