Fred to Man United is very close, had a medical today and is now discussing personal terms, deal to be announced in next 24 hours.

Swansea have agreed a compensation package with Ostersunds for their manager Graham Potter, Potter is also expected to be announced as Swansea' next manager in next 24 hours.

Very happy with both bits of news. 👍

It's very obvious why Italy is a no show at the WC this year. They're on par with Oranje. Sjeez.

Man United have said they've agreed a deal with Shakthar Donetsk for Fred.

And there are reports that Diego Dalot has completed his medical at United ahead of a move from Porto.

👍👍👍👍:D:D:D

AC Milan lock up Romagnoli until 2022 amidst offers from Juventus and Real Madrid.

The NY Times reported that AC Milan have been recommended by UEFA for exclusion from the Europa League next year due to FFP violations. The official ruling is still a few weeks out.

Memphis Depay has been promised to Milan manager Rino Gattuso which likely means Suso is done with the Rossneri. Other transfer rumors include selling Locatelli to Cagliari and the exit of Abate to the MLS, Gustavo Gomez to Boca Juniors and Luca Antonelli is likely to leave.

Arsenal have made the first signing under Emery, Stephan Lichtsteiner joins on a free from Juventus.

Buffon to PSG has hit a snag after PSG are under scrutiny for FFP violations last summer. Buffon had already found an agreement with the French team but with FIFA likely to institute a transfer ban, he may not get a chance to sign. This leaves the door open for Liverpool to possibly get the veteran Italian keeper.

PSG are under scrutiny for FFP violations

Why aren't they clever enough to have their shirt-stadium sponsor to be owned by the same company as the club like Man City so they can underwrite any losses by increasing the amount they receive from the sponsors?

This has failure written over it, really big letters have been used.
Yeah, he didn't do too well under the pressure at Old Trafford.

Monaco have joined Bayern and Dortmund in a race to sign Milan defender Ricardo Rodriguez.

Rumour mill:

Marko Arnautovic (Man United) - £50,000,000
Jamaal Lascelles (Spurs & Chelsea) - £45,000,000

Ridiculous. Simply, ridiculous. TV money is big. This is big money for... uh, not big players.

Adjusted for inflation, Alan Shearer's transfer from Blackburn to Newcastle would be about £27,000,000 in today's money. Trevor Francis' move from Birmingham to Forest as England's first million pound player would be £4,800,000 in today's money.

You will be able to hear the pop from the Moon when this bubble finally bursts.

I might laugh this time when it's big clubs who should know better who feel the pinch as opposed to the small clubs who felt the pinch when the never-going-to-happen ITV Digital bubble burst.

Very happy with the Dalot signing and the Fred signing when its confirmed.

Hopefully it'll be a sign of things to come this summer. 👍

Some interesting fines were finally issued today:

Besiktas for insufficient organisation: €34,000
Liverpool for fireworks and throwing objects: €29,000
Bayern München for a pitch invasion and an illicit banner: €25,000
Russia for racist chanting: €22,000
Atletico Madrid for blocking off stadium stairwells: €18,000

They're all insignificant and won't be felt even .1% by these clubs but the last two seem especially disproportionate.

In addition to Ronaldo and Bale preparing to leave Real Madrid, Dani Ceballos has told his teammates that he will be joining AC Milan.

Totally agree it should be in the millions at least then clubs will feel like they are being punished and then for future problems the clubs in question might look at things to stop it rather than get another big fine later down the line? (Like more policing before the bad events happen)

Bye-bye Sky?

No, bye-bye PL Boxing day football on the tele as all these games will be on Amazon Prime. :(

These are basically extra games (but the PL have changed the packets and kick off times about) and Sky still have more than double the amount of games than BT will show.

Also the two full rounds of fixtures is unlikely to get most to pay almost £80 for Amazon Prime but if they keep the monthly option at £7.99 (which I doubt) then people buying that could happen with all their fixtures being in December. It's a nice bonus for anyone who already uses Prime though, unless all prices now go up of course.

Amazon have also just put a big target on their backs with the Boxing day fixtures, what will all the usual traffic they'd get normally and now these games on top it's just become a prime day for any 🤬 who may want to DDoS them offline for whatever reason.

Not immediately but it could spell the end for Sky's broadcasting dominance if streaming services start encroaching on televised football rights.

Give or take a few years.

At this point illegal streaming is a far greater threat and this TV deal is actually worth less than the current one too. Sky could easily become a streaming service and completely abandon regular tele at some point in the future too, it's all a bit of guess work at this point.

Also their is a major problem with all this streaming with our internet being so rubbish that without massive improvements to that first, there is no way all this online stuff can continue to grow and that's before all the malicious attacks and stuff which seem to be growing every year.

That is true but I just can't shake the feeling that it might be prudent to start or trial a streaming service, perhaps a closed internal one, sooner rather than later. As well as Amazon I expect Facebook to get involved with football rights soonish; some Welsh league games I watch come through S4C's Sgorio streaming live on Facebook.

Broadcast television is a living fossil and I say that as someone who neither watches television (Slovak telly is crap) and nor do I have Netflix or Amazon Prime accounts or whatever. It is the inevitable future of televised media and it'll be interesting to see these huge companies scrap with one another to be the first to have a successful, functioning, tailored service which can avoid the pitfalls you have mentioned.

You will pay for the month just for the footy and The Grand Tour. With full rounds also on tv, hope actual matches on Boxing Day for all teams.

I see what you did there.

Premier League Chairman Richard Scudamore is to step down at the end of this year, he has been in the job for 20 years.

The Premier League winter break to start in February 2019. While league cup extra time is scrapped and VAR is used at Premier League grounds (in the EFL cup).

Amazon will show 20 English Premier league games a season from 2019...

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2...league-hold-of-sky-and-bt-with-streaming-deal

In a shift from the types of deal that BT and Sky have had, it looks like Amazon will have exclusive rights for two lots of 10 league games, so they will be guaranteed to show two games per EPL club.

Does this affect the deal NBC has here in America or is it strictly for the UK? I have Amazon Prime so it's no big deal if it does but I was just curious.
