At MetLife Stadium in the shadow of New York City and in New Jersey; it was the Houston Texans who came away with a 29-22 victory over Blitz24's New York Jets. I read DeAndre Hopkins had 10 receptions for about 270 yards and 2 Touchdowns for the Texans. It wasn't a baller performance by the Texans, but they did as best as they could to get over the stinging loss to Indianapolis last weekend. So concludes another inner-forum rivalry game. If the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts lose their respective games this, we win the AFC South and get a 1st Round Bye in the Playoffs.

Up next for the Houston Texans... we face an opponent we have NEVER beaten- the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles. We're in Philly next Sunday afternoon trying to finally notch a win against the Eagles.

Congratulations to all other winners from this week's games.

AND. OR. No- it isn't programming speak; it is a look at scenarios for teams to clinch playoff berths or any other clinching honors. For example: (team A) clinches Division with win OR loss by (team B). Is your favorite team(s) still in the Playoff hunt? If so, keep playing to clinch! If already a Playoff team, sweeten the offer if you can. Or... if your team(s) is/are completely out of it, help out your NFL Draft hopes as the regular season winds to a close.

My Texans have already played, so I may just check in just to talk about other teams. Other than that, good luck to your favorite teams.

Games were completed as of the time of this post, so let me muse on some of the games completed.

* After their win at the New York Jets yesterday, the Houston Texans needed two teams to be defeated to win the AFC South and get a 1st Round Bye in the Playoffs- Tennessee and Indianapolis. Tennessee was at the New York Giants, and Indianapolis was hosting Dallas. Well... neither happened. Indy whacked Dallas 23-0 at home. Tennessee took out the New York Giants 17-0. So the Texans will have to wait a bit before making the postseason.

* Detroit went out to western New York state to meet the Buffalo Bills. It would have been a win for the cats from MoTown, but Samurai8juice's Bills took the lead late and never looked back. 14-13 victory for the Bills. Both teams are now 5-9.

* Midwestern football, anyone? Chicago hosted Green Bay today. The Chicago Bears needed to either win today's game or have Minnesota lose (more on MIN later in this post). The Packers lost 24-17. So meet your 2018 NFC North champions- the Chicago Bears!

* Now, about Minnesota... the Vikings hosted Omnis' Miami Dolphins. The Vikes did REAL good today- grilling the Dolphins well done 41-17.

* How about one of Florida's other NFL teams? Like, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, maybe? SecretAgentZero's Baltimore Ravens took down Tampa Bay 20-12 in Baltimore. The Ravens are still pretty dangerous and will not go away.

* Miami and Tampa Bay lost. Florida's last hope for a win this week comes down to the Jacksonville Jaguars hosting the Washington Redskins. And... Jacksonville failed. The Redskins went into Jacksonville and won 16-13.

* The Atlanta Falcons had NO problem with the Arizona Cardinals. The Dirty Birds held serve at home 40-14.

* Shout out to Dolph Drago and Eva's Cincinnati Bengals today. The Bengals did good at home as Jeff Driskel got his first win as a starting QB. Cincy won at home 30-16 over MoLiEG's Oakland Raiders.

Congratulations to all other winners from this week's games.

if the Bills beat the Pats and the Dolphins beat the Jags next week....

...and the Dolphins beat the Bills and the Jets beat the Pats the week after...

the Dolphins make the playoffs and the Pats may or may not.

I think a conspiracy needs to form between the Dolphins, Bills and Jets to take down the Pats once and for all. Wouldn't mind throwing away week 17 for a higher draft pick while at the same time the Dolphins win the division over the Pats. But can the Jets actually show up to play week 17 is the question. And can the Bills beat Tom Brady in Foxborough, something they've never done (i'm pretty sure).

Saints at Panthers TONIGHT!

We got the NFC South on display tonight, and the teams in vogue among the NFC South are the New Orleans Saints and the Carolina Panthers. Tonight's match takes place in one of my favorite NFL stadiums- Bank of America Stadium in beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina. Charlotte is usually known for NASCAR racing. Hitting the wall (figuratively speaking) a couple of times of late has been the 6-7 Carolina Panthers. While Charlotte may be a beautiful city, their NFL football team may face the ugly reality of missing the playoffs tonight, especially if the 11-2 New Orleans Saints land the kill shot to the Panthers' playoffs hopes. This game, for all intents and purposes, is a must-win for Carolina to keep their playoff hopes intact. We'll find out if the Panthers can take down the Saints tonight in Charlotte.

--- ODDS ---
FAVORED: NO (-6)
OVER/UNDER: 50 points

As an off-topic note and speaking of NASCAR, I read on Wikipedia once that Charlotte Motor Speedway was once considered to be used as a football stadium to land an NFL team back in the 1990s. The Carolina Panthers have been around since 1995. So could you imagine home games played at Charlotte Motor Speedway rather than at their proper football stadium? And if it were to happen, football games held at race tracks would be nothing new. There were college football games at Bristol Motor Speedway before, recently when Virginia Tech and Tennessee played a game on a Saturday night there in 2016.

Good luck to both Carolina and New Orleans tonight.

The Lions are going to do the most Lions thing possible and win the next two games so that they screw up their draft pick. I think they're sitting at 6th right now, but with two wins they'd end up somewhere in the middle of the pack.

Hopefully, they realize this and lose out.

Not sure who'd they end up taking though. It looks like a defense heavy draft this year and the Lions are actually pretty decent on that front. Mock drafts have them taking Kentucky's OLB Josh Allen.

To that end, the Detroit Lions remaining schedule: Minnesota and at Green Bay. Best the 5-9 Lions can do is 7-9; worst they can do is 5-11. Or maybe there's the unusual circumstance they tie in either or both games.

Well. That was a great defensive game from both sides and Saints need one more win to get the Number 1 seed in the NFC.

Pretty obvious that Cam's shoulder is not well. Panthers need to sit him and give Heinicke a shot for the final two games. At worst they might get a top ten draft pick.

Cam is already a terrible thrower, but with that injured shoulder is even worse. They need to shut him down for the season for good.

Well, speaking of shut down, the Carolina Panthers' hopes of the postseason have been shut down after their fail against the New Orleans Saints. So 'dem Panthers couldn't beat 'dem Saints. So they can shut down Cam Newton all they want this season because they aren't going to the postseason.

This is Week 16- the penultimate week of NFL football for the 2018 season. Playoff positioning is still the hot topic here with a number of teams trying to make the postseason. Let's update the list of who's IN the playoffs at present...

--- AFC: Who's IN! ---
...AFC East...
...AFC North...
...AFC South...
...AFC West...
Kansas City (clinched berth)
Los Angeles Chargers (clinched berth)
...AFC Wild Card 1...
...AFC Wild Card 2...

--- NFC: Who's IN! ---
...NFC East...
Chicago (NFC North Champions)
New Orleans (NFC South Champions)
Los Angeles Rams (NFC West Champions)
...NFC Wild Card 1...
...NFC Wild Card 2...

Don't worry- these placeholders will be updated as more teams win their division, get wild cards, get 1st Round Byes, and more.

Some of this week's games are as follows:

THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (WK. 16): WAS Redskins at TEN Titans
SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (WK. 16): KC Chiefs at SEA Seahawks
MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL (WK. 16): DEN Broncos at OAK Raiders

How about some NFL football as a stocking stuffer? This will all be some great action before Christmas. The Monday Night game gives us a little GTPlanet rivalry- Danoff's Broncos at MoLiEG's Raiders.

Please enjoy this week's action, and good luck to all of your favorite teams.

The Peter Man will suit up for the Kansas City game.

400 yards.
5 touchdowns (yes, to Oakland players)
1 rushing touchdown

PETERMANIA RUNNING WILD.

Gruden will be emboldened. He'll spend 2019 rotating famous Bills quarterbacks that Oakland trotted out afterward. Trent Edwards will play a game, then the Peter Man, then McCarron, then Losman, the Manuel. Gruden will give Fitzpatrick a call for a farewell tour, and even get Rob Johnson on the line again from their time in Tampa. Defensive coordinators won't know what to do. Then once they figure out that they just need to have a cornerback stand within 10 yards of whoever is being thrown to for a free pick six, Gruden will unveil is best scheme yet:

The entire front 7 is Bills quarterbacks. He'd be the real winner of the Khalil trade then; when Mack goes to rush the quarterback only to be stopped by not knowing which one he's supposed to tackle!

Do you think the Bills would still have a top 5 defense in YPG if they actually had a special teams?

Most of the time it seems like teams struggle to drive 70-80 yards against them, and they really only get scored on in short drives.

Right now though they're 18th in points allowed with 23.8. Takeaway Peterman's 21 points he gave away and they move up to 15th. Takeaway the Peterman thumpings and it falls to 18.3, which would be top 5. That said though Peterman had to face the best teams on the schedule: Ravens, Colts, Pats, and Bears.

Since I don't trust Carr anymore and this season has been all about getting next year's top Draft pick...

Do it Gruden. DO IT. Do it for the lulz...

The problem is that Gruden is stuck with Carr. That contract he signed a couple years back is massive and they will have a hard time moving or cutting him for a while.

I read QB Matt Barkley signed a two-year extension to stay with the Buffalo Bills. So perhaps the Bills can work off of this and maybe try to go better with M. Barkley at QB.

They really really like what they have in him (Peterman 2.0) and he's really really happy to have a meaningful job at all.

Unless Allen suffers a major major injury, or he turns into an absolute bust, it's full speed ahead with Allen as starter. But I do really like Barkley, especially after he put 41 on the Jets.

HEADS UP!

The Washington Redskins are currently taking on the Tennessee Titans in Nashville. The other game slated for today is the match with the Baltimore Ravens at the Los Angeles Chargers.

Did your favorite players make the 2019 Pro Bowl? The Houston Texans will send some of their boys to the Pro Bowl. Among them: DeAndre Hopkins, J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney, and Bednarick McKinney. Some folks here in Houston think Kareem Jackson should have also made the Pro Bowl. Still, bringing four Texans isn't too bad. The team with the most Pro Bowl selections this season are the Los Angeles Chargers, who have seven players going to the 2019 Pro Bowl.

Find out who all made the cut here: http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/...-selections-all-32-teams-full-nfc-afc-rosters .

Enjoy this Christmas weekend of NFL football, and good luck to all of your favorite teams.

Pro-Bowl is kind of a joke anyway. Tyrod is a pro-bowler, cause I think he was an alternate and Brady was in the SB that year so it gave Tyrod a spot.

One of the playoff scenarios for the Houston Texans was that they needed to beat Philadelphia or hope Tennessee and Indianapolis lose their games. Well, one isn't going to happen, because the Tennessee Titans downed the Redskins today in Nashville 25-16. Indianapolis plays the New York Giants at home tomorrow.

Given how bad the Pro Bowl has been, I'd frankly rather see the worst two teams play in a loser take all match for the first overall draft pick. That would at least give everyone participating a genuine reason to not try at all rather than watch players who are supposed to be the best players half ass around for an extra check.

Time to make/continue/enhance playoff hopes. That is... if your favorite teams are in it. Have a great day!

How do they do this against them.
Nearly every game.
Now matter how well they have played in other games that year.
No matter who the coach is.
No matter who is on the team.
No matter who owns the team.
Every year.
For 17 years.

Or, rather, many division titles, playoff bye weeks and Super Bowls would the Patriots have if they didn't have two guaranteed wins every damn year.

Some teams have to win, some teams have to lose. With their playoff destiny in their hands, the Houston Texans tried their best at the Philadelphia Eagles. In the end, the go-ahead field goal with less than three seconds left in the game connected. The Texans lose 32-30 at the Eagles. The defending champions still have a playoff pulse after today. The Texans just didn't have enough to escape Philly with a win. They didn't get any help from anybody else- Tennessee won, Indianapolis won, and New England won. So the Texans have one last hope of making the postseason next week. And speaking of next week...

Up next for the Houston Texans... it's the final home game of the season as the Texans host the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Congratulations to all winners of this week's games.

They really didn't play that bad. Just dumb mistakes made over and over the whole game. Like a 4th and 4 (?) TD pass...what kinda BS is that. Or a fumble on the Pats' 10...like come on. And the Pats weren't even that sharp today. All they could do is run block...and that's all they needed to do.
