You absolutely aren't, and you're going against all known information on SARS-CoV-2. Either have a source that says SARS-CoV-2 is now fully airborne, or you are catastrophically misunderstanding the transmission mode of the virus and insisting you aren't.

It is a droplet transmitted virus which requires moist droplets found in coughs and sneezes, not an airborne virus which can pass out of the body simply by breathing. You can get it by inhaling coughs and sneezes, not by being near someone breathing normally. You can get it by someone picking it up on their hands, transferring it to your hands, and you placing your hand in a moist place, not by being near someone breathing normally. Again, please look up what the difference is between airborne transmission and droplet transmission, because SARS-CoV-2 is the latter and not the former you are insisting it is.

In the context of a pre-match handshake, it's as far from daft as you can get.
1. It is an oral transmission virus. This is primary transmission method.
2. When you breathe out you expend a mix of air and moisture. The virus is contained in the moisture. The range of the air and moisture is 1 metre +

22 players, 22 mascots, a referee and two assistant referees walking within touching range equals 47 direct transfer points.

Shaking hands at that point is the definition of irrelevant.

It's a droplet transmission virus - mouth and nose. It can also be transmitted in the fecal-oral pathway.

No, this is absolutely false. It is expelled in droplets - sputum (phlegm, mucus, snot, whatever you want to call it) - in coughs and sneezes, not in water vapour in your breath. If it were airborne it would be able to be transmitted this way, but it is not.

What is your source on this? It is contradicting all known information on SARS-CoV-2.

Edit: I've checked up on every reliable source, and none say it is airborne. A report from Wuhan late in January suggested it might be airborne, but there's not been any corroboration. WHO and CDC still say it is droplet transmission, which is still snot from coughs and sneezes, not regular breathing. I'd love to see the source that says otherwise.

I've already explained why it is not. Hand-to-hand transmission is a key pathway for transmission - hence all the advice about washing hands, not putting your hand on your face, and why crap face masks are actually counterproductive - and acting like it's not, compared to a literally impossible, made-up pathway, is foolish and dangerous.

They were all hugging and shaking hands after the games, so what was the point in them not doing it before the games??

Stop with this.

Unless you can point to scientific evidence to back up your claims, more rubbish like this will be deleted from now on.

Meanwhile, the BBC just said exactly what I was thinking earlier.... Liverpool v Crystal Palace - potential league decider - first Premier League title for Liverpool (and my mate has a ticket...)... but what happens if the game goes "behind closed doors"?

From my own (bitter) experience of hanging out with a Liverpool supporting chum, that means going to an overcrowded pub to watch the match instead... what's better, being in the open air of Anfield, or the same number of people crowding into whatever dingy dive fine establishment they can find to watch the game with the requisite atmosphere for the occasion? It's a no-brainer...

Italy will be in total lockdown from tomorrow which means Serie A is suspended until April 3rd at the earliest.

There was a game tonight, Leicester battered Aston Villa 4-0, two goals each from Vardy and Barnes, not looking good for Villa who play Chelsea, Wolves, Liverpool and Man United in their next four league games.

Coronavirus Football update.

La Liga and Spanish second division games to be played behind closed doors for the next fortnight.
All French Ligue 1 and 2 behind closed doors until April 12th.
Barcelona v Napoli Champions League tie next week to be behind closed doors
PSG-Dortmund this week to be behind closed doors as is Valencia-Atalanta but two other CL games this week to go ahead as normal.
Bayern v Chelsea next week to be behind closed doors.
The following Europa league fixtures this week will be behind closed doors:
LASK v Man United
Sevilla v Roma
Inter Milan v Getafe
Olympiakos v Wolves
Wolfsburg v Shakhtar
Europa League game between Frankfurt and Basel is postponed.
Ireland's Euro 2020 play off in Bratislava v Slovakia later this month will be behind closed doors.
Germany v Italy friendly on March 31 to be behind closed doors.
Nottingham Forest owner Evanglos Marinkis has tested positive for the coronavirus, he was at the Forest-Millwall game on Friday night with 27,000 fans.

No word from the Premier League, FA or the EFL regarding the English domestic Football and whether it will be effected but you get the feeling that with pretty much everyone else closing its doors that news is coming. UK currently has 376 confirmed cases with 6 deaths.

Pep Guardiola and Nuno Esposito Santo have said that Football in this country should stop.

Pep's only saying that because he doesn't want Liverpool to win the title at a record earliest date

Most of what I've posted there has happened today, its been a busy day!

After watching Sky sports news this morning, It seemed a silly act that there (valencia vs atalanta) europa league game was behind closed doors but fans obvisouly turned up in massive numbers outside the game?

Spain's health ministry said it wanted to avoid 'large gatherings of fans' but many have flouted their recommendations.

The Man City-Arsenal game being called off does have implications for the title race but most importantly I think its the beginning of the end of this season.

Any money on the season being cancelled, denying Liverpool a Premier League title?

That would be the Liverpoolest thing ever - having it so completely within their grasp, only to be denied by a global biological apocalypse.

That is so funny but in all honesty they do deserve it.

The Man City-Arsenal game is a one-off cancellation for the moment due to the Olympiakos owner having contracted the virus and being in the vicinity of Arsenal players and staff at a time he was unaware of it.

There might be a bit of bedlam later when more confirmed cases come near teams, but the Premier League are trying to press on regardless until their hand is forced.

Fans still garthering outside stadiums for me defeats the whole behind closed doors, But at least UEFA and FA and such like will be seen to have done the right thing. :(
I guess there are covering there own backs playing in emtpy stadiums.

La Liga has now been suspended.

It would make much more sense to pause/suspend all major sports activities and pick them up later in the year.

Three Leicester players have shown virus symptoms, and are now in self-isolation.

Still no official statement from either Premier League, FA or EFL regarding this season.

If the EPL is shut down early, I would like to see all clubs to agree to award the title to Liverpool.

Other issues would be more contentious though - European tournament slots for next season, relegation and promotion from other leagues... may be in these two latter cases they could agree to hold play-offs after the pandemic has abated, but only include teams who had a mathematical chance of having the required points if they had played fewer games.

Hopefully common sense will prevail, though, and all teams will chalk up any gained or lost opportunities to the luck of the draw.

But in any case, there's no doubt Liverpool would have won the league if they are unable to play the rest of the calendar. It would be fitting and respectful for other club managers and owners to get behind this idea.

UEFA will meet on Tuesday to discuss the coronavirus and its impact.

Its been reported since that was announced that Euro 2020 will postponed till next year.

Man City-Real Madrid and Juventus-Lyon Champions League games next week are postponed.

MLS has been suspended for 30 days.

UK government considering banning sporting fixtures

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/51859553

Just started watching the olympiakos v wolves game and really annoyed me with what I saw,
The ban on all the handshake business and all that crap before games and such like, How stupid is it that the players in the tunnel start shaking hands before they even walk out and then the two goalkeepers walk upto each other and hug. Yet in the public eye they just walk away from each on the pitch and not even walk past each other. just daft to say the least.
Oh well its just a crazy world. :boggled: I hope someone has footage of it. Just couldn,t belive what I saw.

If you're so far ahead it would not be a hollow victory, so the EPL should indeed just award LFC the league and be done with the shenanigans.

But I think the money handlers have the final word in this.

10pm: Premier League say all fixtures going ahead as scheduled this weekend with crowds.

10.28pm: Mikel Arteta tests positive for COVID-19. Himself, the entire Arsenal first team, the first team staff and a few others who have been in contact with him are all in self-isolation, London Colony training ground shut down.

10.47pm: The Premier League announce an emergency meeting for Friday to discuss this weekends fixtures

That was one mad hour!

Brighton v Arsenal is postponed, that at least we know.

There's no point cancelling the season and handing out awards now. Wait until May at least when it should be over. If it all calms down by then they might be able to crack out a few games and/or playoffs.

Coronavirus is just a plot by Manchester United to stop Liverpool breaking the record for earliest premier league title win

Liverpool can win the league if they beat Everton on Monday, cant they?

Yep I think its always been a Man UTD thing that the 30 years an not winning premiership bothers them (Man UTD) more than any other team. :D
Surpirsed they not getting more fans infected srpeading it. seriously thats a a Joke
