Interesting theory... and I wonder what T8 think about it, and how hard they'll fight against any improvements, especially now that JW has come out and said there are deficits in the Ford engine that they would address when they become the homologation team.

Was at the track this morning and it was bloody wet, didn't expect any running till the F1 tbh, would've been carnage but not in a fun way.
Especially with only a two day turnaround. And while it was disappointing, it wouldn't have been fair on the Queensland teams if anything happened to their cars in the race... which as you pointed out, would've been carnage.

Edit: Good to see they were still collecting data for the cars on the weekend too. I noticed T8 and DJR were both running a Pitot tube on one one of their cars.

Honestly other than the fact that the cars race so well on the circuit, having the round the week before the F1 completely destroys the purpose of them being on the bill. They're there for promotion, it's the most commercial eyes they get on the series bar Bathurst, and is huge for corporate exposure.

Beyond it being extremely unlikely to get approval to have the circuit preparation time extended and then left untouched for a week, Supercars simply wouldn't get the same amount of benefit I don't think from it.

Yeah, but at the same we do need a good season opener. Since Newcastle isn't an option anymore NSW hasn't worked out with it having the rights for the first round of the championship. Highly unlikely that we can get Albert Park to ourselves a week beforehand and get a crowd unless the AGPC promotes it. Having some of the other categories like Porsches, Super2 to boost its recognition. And then for the GP weekend you can have more time for F2 and F3 with squeezing out Supercars out of time. And Melbourne as local market for V8's would be huge sponsorship opportunities. So it can work but will it become a reality, short answer no.

As much as I’ve enjoyed the four races during F1 week when I’ve gone to the races, Supercars would have to pull the series from the event. It doesn’t mater whether there are two long races or four short races, the series can’t and will never win as an intermission support category.

It may seem cool to have an event the week before, but for what? I can’t see the ticket numbers suddenly exploding to offset the ticket sales with Supercars on the F1 bill. I guess if the races were on Tuesday and Wednesday, it would help the teams, but it’s all about the fans. How many people are going to show up? Maybe those that didn’t get F1 tickets in time?
Do F1 teams want all that Dunlop rubber on the circuit two days before they(all formula categories) get on the circuit? I don’t know.

Combine the races then. Two longer races is better than 4 short ones with barely any action if there's even one safety car.

A late April Fools day, maybe?

Obviously going to be interesting to see who the Toyota second team will be, if this goes down. Thought PremiAir was a lock to be the new factory GM team with Team 18 switching. But it might be the other way around now.

Would be Erebus fourth brand if they switched. I could see it though. Not sure about BJR. They have the resources to continually fix four cars, but not sure Toyota would have the best chance of consistent top finishes with the team.

I read somewhere that it could be more of a figurehead role to appease the rules rather than an outright homologation team. I can't find it now but the article suggested that the role would be shared across all the GM teams with Jeremy Moore leading it.

Interesting indeed. I don't think GM would want to lose PremiAir, as they'll probably be the best of the rest when T8 go, but they could go to Toyota out of spite... and money.

Well there goes that theory.

BJR would be great as the second Toyota team. If it happens I hope they keep the four cars though, so the grid stays at 24 cars. Not sure how much interest they would be from someone else potentially joining the series to start up new a team if they drop two RECs.

I would buy them but I don't have enough money... However I do know someone who does. Unfortunately, he races in the Ferrari Challenge and owns an SP3 Daytona, among other things like an 812 GTS Competizione, SF-90, 488 GT3 Modificata and a TDF1.

And confirmed finally.
Going to be a bit weird to have the factory GM team cars part sponsored by Toyota Forklifts.

Alright it was worth to get Kayo if this is what’s going to be happening all season. Good stuff! None of the old waiting mess. I guess the tyres are better?

That’s funny, earlier I was thinking about how it’s worth keeping Kayo just for Supercars if the racing stays this good.

Crazy to see different drivers all throughout the grid. Doesn’t feel like the usual suspects(okay M.Jones notwithstanding), since I last watched the series.
Love the old school feel the circuit set for the racing.
Edit : Okay, Chaz mentioned the tyre. I’m not paying attention to any of the technical stuff. Just tuning in to watch the start of the race and the end. None of the pre and post race stuff from the commentary & pit lane team.

The super soft race could've been interesting if it was just a tiny bit longer and enticed teams to do an optional 2 stop.

Overall a decent weekend but not a particular memorable one, stoked for Matt Payne, good dude. If today had been won by the one the usual suspects I would've been less enthused, fizzled out towards the end.

Disappointed by (another) very questionable penalty for Wood in the third race. Even Kostecki said he had no issue with the move. Did Woody run over Craig Baird's cat or something? That's three penalties in three rounds so far.

Dad and I won't agree with you but my brother certainly will. I don't think the penalty was questionable because Ryan Wood kicked Brodie right off the track instead of just muscling him out a little bit like the other drivers did.

Fair enough. I just don't see a hell of a lot of difference between Mostert's "pass" on Brodie the day before and that one.

Guess Brodie losing more spots after the contact with Wood tho, probably was the reasoning behind giving Wood 5 seconds.

I think this is why Brodie was fine with RW's pass, because there was virtually no difference... apart from a bit more prior contact between Chaz and Brodie before the end result. I'm pretty sure it was more confusion from Brodie as to why the two incidents were deemed different when it came to RW's penalty.

Maybe Bairdo deemed it was both giving as good as they get in the first instance? I dunno, they both looked pretty similar to me when taken as a single incident... which is pretty much how I saw it.

The only other thing I can think of is that because Brodie ran himself off the track (when he bombed Chaz), then was deemed to come back on somewhat dangerously, so that gave Chaz the right to run Brodie off????

Glad I'm not Bairdo!
