2-0!!! To Spain too.
This French team has looked unstoppable but have their front line done anything tonight to make it look like they can get back into this?

They look flustered, France have looked relentless so far but can't get going tonight. Whereas Spain have looked good but not unstoppable so far this tournament. They look like they've turned up tonight though.

France have been awful.

They've been too reliant on Mbappé, and he looks like a spent force in this game - and the rest of the team have produced nothing.

Going out with a whimper...

The Dictator is out!

Agreed, very, very poor today, Mbappe almost entirely anonymous and no one stood up to take control.

Credit to Spain though, they performed extremely well, supremely organised in defence and some standout performances across the pitch.

I think it was a combination of Spain playing well and not letting France get going and France not having a great game. Some poor individual performance from them tonight, and the rest were pretty anonymous.

If England win against Argentina, there's a chance of Spain vs England will happen, both one-time World Cup winners will face-to-face at each other in the final, but I doubt it.

If England beat Argentina tomorrow, there's not a chance England will play Spain in the final, they will play Spain in the final.

You never know, WWIII might break out between now and Sunday evening.

Looking forward to the big match tonight - my English pal has fled the country to watch the game... in Dublin  I fear that he might be about to find out that finding a pub to watch the England game in Dublin is harder than in Glasgow.

Tonight I'll be supporting England - it would be great to see England make the final, and it would be fitting revenge for the 1986 World Cup exit.

-

Generally speaking, as a neutral, I usually end up supporting the side that I think deserves it more based on their performance on the night - though my personal loyalties are split in the event of a Spain v England World Cup Final...

My Spanish mate is one of the loveliest human beings I've ever met, while my English mate (currently hiding in Dublin) can be horribly anti-Scottish (and not just when it comes to football), so I'm more inclined to appear to support Spain - but if England play really well, it would be good to see them win in an exciting game akin to the Mexico match - but somehow I think that might have been their high water mark in this tournament... let's see from 8pm tonight if they can make it!! (...weather and global nuclear holocaust permitting...)

I think we're certainly on for a feisty game, Argentina V England usually delivers on that front. I think Tuchel is sensible enough to make sure his players don't rise too much to it, though the temperament of Bellingham concerns me the most.

England just have to player their game and not give the referee a decision to make. Keep it clean, aggressive and play football and I don't think Argentina have enough to go through. Bar a few moments of brilliance, they have been bang average. Yes the same could be said about England but there have been longer periods of standout play from us, against Croatia, Mexico and digging deep against low block teams. Argentina will try and play expansive football and that will unlock England.

Prediction, Argentina 1-3 England.

Some interesting stats:

- Argentina have only won twice out of 14 games between the 2 (not including shootouts, Argentina won in 1998 on penalties, counts as a draw statistically speaking).

- Lionel Messi has never faced England.

- The last fixture was 2005 which England won 3-2.

- Michael Owen is the top scorer in this fixture. (3)

- Argentina's one competitive, normal time win, over England was at the Azteca in 1986.

Although one shouldn't believe in this too much, red is an unlucky color in Atlanta.

As England are the designated home side, they should be in white. Argentina have requested to play in their navy blue due to the success of that shirt against England.

I kinda want England to win it so that we don't have to hear about Xty years of hurt any more, and it'll probably result in only a mild spike of domestic violence rather than the very large spike that happens when they lose tournament games.

But I also don't want England to win it so that we don't throw knighthoods at every single person involved. Footballers' egos are already mashing the top of the scale and I don't really want to see "Sir John Stones" in the news - or worse, when one of them is in court for yet another professional footballer rape case - until the day I die.

Just promise them knighthood upon the day of their death.

I kinda want England to win it because I want the sort of person who shouts "two world wars and one world cup" at Germans to know it took a German manager to achieve it.
