We could end the 2026 WEC Season with Barcelona / October 18th (date clash with GTWC Europe), and Monza November 7th.
I like that a lot. Talk about one hell of an ending to the season having what's already been one of the more exciting WEC seasons to date cap off at Monza.

That GTWC race could be potentially moved to avoid said clash.

It's got a classic v8 racecar sound, unlike the Cadillac which has a nascar like sound. Sounds good though, cant wait to hear it on track soon enough. I imagine Ford drops the name and full reveal next? They are for sure milking the reveal with this slowly but surely idea.

Isn't Ford pretty far behind McLaren at this point? McLaren already has a full car and has been testing I think and Ford is just now firing up the engine.
That's why I said they are taking their sweet time. Could have been issue that arose awhile back or they just being dramatic because Ford wants to make a statement.

Yes, that is actually what makes me fear that next year's 24 Hours of Le Mans might be boring.
Knowing the ACO, I get the feeling they'll try to tweak the BoP to recreate the Ford vs. Ferrari duel again. And with Ford likely to suffer from reliability issues, we could very quickly see a Ferrari parade sporting their new 2027 Evo kit.

Hypothetical

Philippe Sinault/Signatech has been in discussions prospective OEMs and investors.

One of them being with Geely.
One of Geely's Subsidiaries is Lotus

If this all works out this way and Signatech and Geely join forces they could rebadge the currently Alpine Hypercar as a Lotus.

Wouldn't that be awesome?

I'm sorry, but what is the difference? Just found your description abit strange considering there are multiple "Classic V8s" (including several Nascar cars) and they don't all sound like that.

If you mean the current Cup cars, I'd argue THEY sound more like what the Cadillacs and the Corvettes C5-R-C7.R have sounded like for years (which isn't shocking since they now have exhausts on both sides).

I meant more so like the trans-am cars from the 80s and 90s.

Yes, as discussed ten days ago, this is more and more likely. Lotus seems to me the most appropriate brand in the group, given the target clientele.

Things are taking shape for High Class Racing :

Weird how they are headlining testing the car but it's still not confirmed they will really be able to race in the Asian Le Mans series. This is like when Vanwall announced they had updated the 680 LMH a couple of years ago and wanted the WEC to have them back but nothing happened. I hope Isotta can come back but nothing is set in stone. They should keep it all under wraps until then

Thing is with Vanwall, there was also that whole legal stuff regarding the name (and Since its the team of Colin Kolles we're talking about, of course ANYTHING he did was gonna be extremely questionable).

Slightly off topic:
I missed the announcement around the le mans weekend but lmp3 will no longer be part of the asian le mans series now that hypercars will be added. Instead lmp3 will become the top class of the new asian le mans cup (lmp3, lmp3 pro & gt3)

I think this calender looks solid, I like the idea of having Monza and Circuit de Catalunya to finish this season off and it should probably stay like this. The middle east is a hot mess right now and I see it in turmoil for years to come, so it needed to be done ASAP. With Silverstone being added next season now that's great news even though I still wish for a Chinese or Australian track one day in this rotation.

Damn first Ferrari now Peugeot on the same day, it's looking great for 2027! I think Aston will be next to do an evo update probably sometime next season or to start 2028. The Peugeot looking unique still even though they seem to be sticking with a stacked row tailight design, that's the only meh.

And now it's Peugeot's turn to test its major Evo package :

Looks sick !

Looks nothing like the current car which is a shame as its by far the best looking hypercar for me, the original wingless version looked even better!

Fair play to them for persisting in the development despite so many years of poor results. Its great to see, most manufacturers would've pulled the plug a long time ago.

I think Aston Martin THOR already announced a major Evo for the Valkyrie next year.

Edit : that Knight Rider headlight bar on the new 499P isn't what I would call "pretty"..

My sister was tidying her house and found these - my programmes and laminated Spotter's Guides from our GTP trip to Le Mans in 2014...
