If you don't have time to do something that's literally an hour into the game I'm surprised you had time to install it.

Unlocking the tracks is not a matter of time, in that case it's skill. I know there are some blisteringly fast players out there, but believe it or not, it's almost certainly not within everyone's ability to score those gold medals required to unlock the Nordschleife 24h track. Just as it's completely unlikely I'm ever going to score gold on all the license tests, even if I tried them all a hundred times.

And it's not necessarily just a matter of practice. Even in "hardcore" sim racers like iRacing (which I've been playing on and off myself for a year) - where everyone is playing with a steering wheel and have enough of an interest in a hardcore sim to pay a monthly subscription plus potentially several hundred Dollars worth of content - there's a vast gap in skill level and thus lap times between the fast and slow drivers.
I fall into the latter group, and while I certainly believe I have room for improvement, some people are simply more naturally talented.

I haven't run the Nordschleife special events enough times to gauge whether the gold lap/sector times are likely to be truly difficult for a slow but consistent driver, but they certainly seem out of reach for now.

How's the P4 – is it worth the effort?

You can use it in one of the later license tests (overtaking) and I thought it was f'n excellent! For once they actually put the right opponents in too such as the GT40 (in gulf livery) for example.

As for the money thing, it was 20m in forza too.. As someone said, T10 gave it as a prize car and I got one in the auction house for 100k, then 2 days later T10 gifted me one anway lol.

It's a veeeery different beast in GT5 though. Didn't like it in FM3 without serious tuning, but in GT5 it's fantastic. Sounds great too with lots of 'fizz', rattle crackle.

they have the logistics of this game screwed, graphics are great, tarmac driving is superb, but the price of some of these cars is a joke. I mean, in all honestly polyphony digi, you guys spent to much time on quantity, instead of quality.

I'm not sure the in game CREDIT system is denominated in your local currency. Federal Reserve Notes (Dollar Bills) would appear with a $ in front as well as all the other currencies and their respective symbols.

It doesn't matter what currency the in game credit system is denominated by, the cars simply aren't valued in real life at any rate close to what GT5 has priced them at.

I will save up and buy most of these cars, but I wish it was a bit more reasonable. If there was an event for 250k credits, maybe that would help.

There are so many cars/mods I want to buy before I spend 20M credits on a single car...so it's going to be a long road ahead.

TBH most people are likely to give up on the game and move on from GT5 before they even get close to owning one of these cars.

I have to agree. I've spent hours on the Nordschleife events and while firmly in the silver range i am too far off gold ever having hope of unlocking the track.

A modified Tommy Kiara ZZ is a better performing car than the fully modded out Ferrari P4. It also costs something like 20-50k when you buy it in the used lot. The old school race cars are awesome cars, but they're not the best in the game and I wouldn't really grind to get them expecting them to be the best cars in the game.

Let's hope they follow the standard procedure for games with unlockable/purchasable items these days, and in the very near future allow you to buy an unlock key for various cars with real money on the PSN store.

I would love that. I don't have the time to play this game for 30 hours just to buy one car. That seems pointless to me.

How are you supposed to earn cars that sell for 2m 000,000 credits?

So far, from what I understand, the highest paying even takes about 4 minutes and earns you roughly 100,000cr. By the time the game loads the event, we'll call it 5 minutes.

Therefore:

1 hour = 1,200,000 credits

With this formula, it would take about 20 hours to buy JUST the Ferrari 330P4 (20,000,000 credits).

How does this make any sense?

If I were to save up that many credits, how would I be able to knowingly spend it all on one car? And it's not just one car that is this expensive...many cars are 10,000,000+

There are so many cars I want to own, but it sounds like I'd need to play 24 hours/day for 6 months to be able to own half of them.

Call me crazy but I have been putting in like 12 hours a day since the 24th. I have over 65 cars and I finally got my Mark IV. I do see what you mean I have 10 million at the moment and there are so many cars I still want.

Agreed! These cars are not ment for everybody, but to the most fanatic of us. I find it good that some cars are very highly priced. That way everyone cant just buy up all the good cars after 30 hours of gameplay. 👍

It's actually the 5th race in the Extreme series, but jesus christ man, read what you quote

It gives the player a good impression of what these old cars are worth, try buying it in reality.

You should put in a lot of work before you get these nice goodies, save up.

Not to pick on you (but on everyone who says things like this):

IT IS A GAME. Using your logic, the game should costs millions of real dollars because I get to drive all the cars on tracks. I need to work and save up to get the nice cars and such, right? How much does it cost to get a day on The Ring? How about 100 days? Maybe I should I pay for that too?

330 P4s are not worth $20 million, though. They are barely getting even $9 million at the auctions. The $15 million for the Miura is beyond ridiculous. The best, most pristine examples of the Miura go for $500K at most. Even with the in-game car's history, the value would not exceed anymore than another $20K.

As far as i'm aware it's the only one of that Bertone prototype left in existence.

Forza 3 had the exact same problem. Turn 10 "solved" it by using the insanely expensive cars as competition prizes. Maybe Sony/PD will do the same.

Forza allows you to make money while playing online or in the single player. It still takes a lot of time but it helps when you are at least earning credits in the single player AND in the multiplayer. The other part that helps is when you buy parts for your cars, it increases the value of your car.

It took me like 4 hours of grinding in Prologue to buy the F2007 for 2,000,000. Now they want 12,000,000 for a car I already got in the demo? I have yet to see an event that earns you 50,000 in 1:30, so It would take even longer to get, and that's just grinding. 12 hours of just doing one race over and over and over again - there's got to be something we're missing here. Does anyone have the guide?

I don't even want to THINK about how much the X1 costs. Could well be in the 100 million range, given it's a non-existent prototype.

You can't buy the X1, it's a reward from the Red Bull Challenge special event you unlock when you have a trophy (1st, 2nd 3rd place) in every special event race.

You will need to do the second Like the wind race 179 times for 12,5m. That's 13 hours and 30 minutes. So you could get it in one day if you really want it

NOTICE: FOR EVERYONE ASKING HOW TO EARN ~100Kcr IN 4 MINUTES
In the fifth category, it's the american racing subcategory. You have to be lvl 23 to race it. The first race is 5 laps around indy with ~48 seconds a lap. You get 98K for winning and just under a square of xp.
Tip: switch to controller and use automatic trans for minimal effort lol.

I grinded my way to level 24 with that technique.

Btw, I got golds in the second amg challenge category and the 24hr nur. setup doesn't even change with time it's just gp and nordshleife connected. boo.

Also, if you want to grind to lvl 23, buy a german touring car and do the 1-lap nordshleife in the touring car subcategory plus you'll gain massive skills at ring driving (which is how I managed gold on amg challenge 2)
