There tends not to be any damage when it involves the cushion effect. But can we just leave it at that, we dont want this to spiral into something it dosent need to.
Just everyone, myself included, give more than the space of a car between you and whatever car is near you. End of, dont you agree Ardius?
Agreed, don't take too much offence from being hit off or losing position or from accidents. It happens and we are not a bunch of punters.
He can take my seat for the First two rounds as apperantly, it'll be two weeks before my PS3 finally arrives
We talked about it and ZERODUCK has our permission to become Super Aguri's third driver.
Okie dokie
One request though, could we please turn off collisions, at least for any further practice races? Perhaps even for the official races in the near future? No biggie, I won't complain about racing with full collision & damage. I just think that Online play, with its slight lag issues, isn't best suited to full damage collisions. What do you guys think?
As others have said, collisions are best left on. We can't adjust the amount of damage that is inflicted by the way, and we can only turn damage off by switching pit stops off.
If we have no collisions, every time someone catches you, you have no chance to defend your position, he can just race straight through you. It also doesn't offer much challenge for actually racing, it basically turns the game into a giant multiplayer time trial, which I think in many people's opinion is rather dull.
Yes, the collision detection is not great, but, its better than nothing.
Tell you what, we could trial collisions off for one practice race (which is the point of them anyway) and see what you think. You might enjoy it at first because you aren't being hit off as easily, but trust me, its gets highly dull when you have no difficulty in passing people and have no chance to defend.
Thats why I say , if you are slow or struggling , please slow down or pull aside at the 1st given "SAFE HAVEN" as to let the faster ones through. This scenario happened to me on the final lap as you stated, went from P3 to P4. In fact , it may have been you Biggles that got around me during this little skirmish , was it ? it was , sorry misread your post.
Yes, this is something I might have to make a rule, though I think it will take some of the team strategy out of the game. I won't penalise people for holding up faster cars when being lapped, however, I think those who do move aside will be appreciated a lot more.
I think that drivers who cut corners on purpose should be penalized, but not by the feature in the game. I know it is hard to police all the drivers on every race, but we can police each other. There is a big chance that cutting corner might slow down you more than what it will help to make a better time. I agree that in a handful of tracks (like Monza, Monaco, etc.) penalties should be on. It is hard to be consistent cutting corners without crashing. If I see a driver cutting corner on purpose, I should bring it up to the community. If proven guilty, that driver should be penalized with a minimum of 25 secs. (or more) added to their race time.
Thoughts,
Sigh, the problem with turning penalties off is that I believe the fastest laps are still counted when you shortcut corners, making it very difficult to find out who did a "clean" fast lap.
The only tracks that I can remember have unbearable penalties are:
1. Melbourne
2. San Marino
3. Monaco - though they are in the right place I think they are much too harsh, this is a controversial one really, generally I think theyre best left on here.
I can't think of any other tracks off hand that are bad for small mistake-inducing penalties but generally the majority of tracks have no problems and if you're getting penalties a lot, all I can say is: Practice! You shouldn't be so far off track that you gain so many penalties, because most of them are not in spots that you mistakenly hit unless you went all four wheels off track.

Ok, next Bahrain practice race is scheduled for Friday, let me know if anyone can't make it and we'll see about altering the date/time, however, I'm going to try and stick to these races times from now on because it seems the majority can make them.
Because of the popularity of NTSC, I'm letting DaddyVDUB and ImagineByLennon organise off calendar practice races for you lot to get up to speed with pit stops, etc and also to test out different rules settings to see what you like best.
Of course the PAL drivers are free to meet up too, but I as usual I cannot organise anything on this front (though I do hope to host the PAL practice race on Friday, fingers crossed).
Oh, and one last thing:
The Bahrain Grand Prix will be held at the end of next at least, so if you want a reason to get practicing, I give you one

Points will count.
