GT Sport Players Have Driven 25 BILLION Miles, in Almost a Billion Races

No relevant news lately.
Player numbers for this game are pretty relevant to how much funding there is for the next game, and the game after that.
...So I guess the only surprise coming out of this weekend is whatever is in the second Nations race?
The presentation didn't cover that (so the next article also won't), but I understand there's at least one thing.

I wonder what the average number of collisions is per mile driven

Anyway, no hope PD is going to improve the penalty system and variety of daily races because players are leaving.... Sport mode attendance is actually increasing. Not mine though, Dirt Rally 2.0 is finally getting some attention and Dreams came out today!

Most of my driving comes from rubber band grinding towards level 50 :sly:
45.000km of real driving;
50.000km of rubber band driving on Tokyo Expressway.

This data is a bit old from mid 2019.

GTS actually has 9,481,623 users as of Feb 13, 2020 like showed in gran-turismo.com.

False estimate.
I did extract all the profiles in gran-turismo.com and there are these:

Feb 13, 2020
GTS 9,481,623
Beta only 569,362

Total 10,050,985‬

Hey Etho!

Are these accounts or actual users? The article does mention over 9 million accounts.

These are final accounts in gran-turismo.com where all data come.
The difference is that I'm doing full extract of all profiles instead to extrapolate from a lower extract like the site with 10.4m.

The total accounts including the Beta accounts that did not migrate to final game is 10,050,985‬ as yesterday.

Edit - There are some accounts with status code 244 and 255 that I don't know what they are... it is pretty little number like less than 1 or 2 of each... there are accounts that I had data before but now it is done so there is no status... that means these are suspended accounts? but these are not included in my count.

It is weird because last year they used recent data in the presentation... this year they are using old data from before the holiday 2019.

My full extraction on Feb 21, 2019: GTS 7,095,110
Picture reveled on March 15, 2019.

An impressive stat, but I bet alot of that has come from mindless grinding for unicorns (much better to have those cars as rewards for tough challenges than monotonous lapping). Im guessing the game has peaked and folks are playing less as time goes by... Im itchin for a sequel now, really need some new tracks to get stuck into... They could easily give us a mirror mode for the none licensed tracks surely?

I will do a new extraction to update my data to check if there is more suspended accounts:
These are all data I have today.

Status 1/GTS: 9481623
Status 2/Beta: 569362
Status 254(?): 1
Status 255(?): 1
No status/profile: 30504

I believe suspended accounts/profiles are code 254 or 255 but I have one of each today... maybe my extraction is too old from before they start to suspend it.
So I will update them.

Can you also count how many sport mode races have been done in total? I assume that nearly a Billion races figure includes all other races. It would be interesting to see what percentage of races happens in sport mode.

I can't because that data come from the Job 3 or 12 in GTS API... I'm using only Job 1 to extract that gives me: id, status, number, country and
profile_photo_id.

You can read more here: https://github.com/alexpersian/gt7sp-api/blob/master/Endpoints/profile.md

I plan to extract Job 2 in the future.

6 million sport races out of close to a billion total, less than a percent of all races happen in sport mode, lower than I thought.

Only one post, and that post really misses out on how big news this is, GT-Sport, 3 years after it launched is more relevant than ever, bringing in new players every day and keeping old players busy. And to top if of, the FIA championship is big, really big, It would be great with a follow up article that investigates how GTS is doing compared to the other popular racing titles in terms of streaming and online championship.

GT-Sport started out as this weird thin release betting everything on sports mode.. and look where we are now..
