I just Tweeted to make sure that we could save A-Spec Endurances, does anyone know about this?

Now that is funny. I have read this entire thread so can someone who is doing the races please clarify somethings, cause it seems like there is conflicting information here.

1. Can the B-Spec driver drive during these races if you make a pit stop?
2. Can you make a pit stop anytime you want?

Now from what I can tell so far is that you have 6 B-Spec drivers that you can rank up. So by deductive reasoning you would have to be able to let them drive and switch out when you wanted. Other wise what would be the point of having 6 drivers. Surely not just for the B-Spec endurance races.

Certainly does, Being that the 'Men' have full time jobs and the 'Boys' can just tell mummy they are too sick for school and play all day.

Thanks Centura, last question have you reached the longer events past 4 hours. The reason I ask is cause a 4 hour race in real life is driven by 1 driver.
Disregard my question did a little goggle time to get my answer. I guess I will be having a 24 Hours of Le Mans race party with some other GT friend/fans when the time comes. I suppose we will be having this party 4 times this year.

If you think the 4 hour Roadster race is a grind, wait for the 9 hour at the same little Tsukuba track. The smaller track makes it more boring for me. Having been involved in professional endurance racing 25 years ago, I have a particular interest and passion for it. I was disappointed to see that unlike REAL endurance racing, where the fields are considerably larger than in sprint races, the size of the field in GT5 endurance races is actually smaller with only 11 opponents 👎

I've done all the Endurance races from past versions of the game as well as many 24 hour races in PC sims like GTR and GTR2. The dedicated sims all have the ability to pause the game when making a pit stop. Since we don't have Bob to take over, and can't save, it seems silly to just pause and rest. I have 2 PS3's so it's not an issue tieing it up so others can't watch movies, it's just an idea that wasn't thought through all the way. Also, in the past, even if Bob was tuned to perfection (driving wise) he was still a bonehead when it came to leaving the pits. If you turned it over to him and went to bed, he would sit there at the end of each pit stop for about 20 seconds before taking off and he never won the race for me unless I got back in and made up the 2 or 3 laps he'd loose in the course of 8 hours.

My problem is now that I'm older, my eyes get tired staring at a giant 52 inch radiation emitting monster for 8 hours at a time and I get a severe case of "pedal foot" from my G25.

I was also a bit disappointed in that my pit crew took the weekend off apparently for the Roadster Event. They were there for the 300K @ Grand Valley, but they're MIA at Tsukuba. Thankfully the tires seem to change themselves

you guys ever heard of the start button? It pauses the race so you can go do other things and come back...I'll do the 24 hour races, but my ps3 might be on for a week straight.

No problem. And no, I currently have about 20 minutes left on the Roadster Endurance Race then I need to get to Level 27 to unlock Laguna Seca (Ugh!).

Do you have a launch day (or close) PS3? I've heard stories about the early PS3s starting to YLOD, and I don't want my day one PS3 to die, especially since it's backwards compatible!

Did this race yesterday. It was a little bit more fun than i expected. But after 3 hours and 20 minutes i pressed accidentially the "restart race" button and was so pi**ed off that i would like to throw my controller into the TV.

I do not understand why there is no confirmation dialog on restart/exit race. Everytime I was going to unpause the game, I double checked that it was on Continue.

Same here. To be honest a big part of why I love the GT series are the endurance races. And now with weather and day to night I am giddy about doing the 24 hours of Le Mans. I just unlocked endurance races today and did the first one. I need a few more levels though before that bad boy becomes unlocked.

my wife and I are two hours in, I can't believe that there is no save in progress or Tag in a B spec driver function, I don't trust my playstation to not freeze on a 24 hour race.... Whats with everyone whinging about grinding? just do the licences and the "special events" man Nur on expert gives you over 150k for gold five times and 30.000 xp as well easy way to level (only once though) then crank enduros, I've done Grand valley enduro twice today, 113k XP each race, takes under two hours in a 787B or similar lemans spec car......

To keep the realism, they should have put an option in to save when you pit. That way there is a small penalty for doing it. The pause option could then be removed.

The 300K @ Grand Valley @ 2 hours / 113,674 points = 947 points per minute

The 4 Hr. Roadster Event @ 4 hours / 207,898 points = 866 points per minute

You could take your 787B to the Indy Oval / Extreme Series (Dream Car Championship) and crank out the 10 lap race in 6.75 minutes + 1.5 min for menu transitions / 9,819 points = 1,190 points per minute.

This is more fun then Endos and you can "Pause" every 6.75 minutes if you like

Took me over a week to do the LeMans 24 in GT4. That was not including my unsucessfull atempts. I did 4 hours one night then put the B-Spec driver in charge. When I got up he had been stuck in a sand trap for 4 hours. The other time I was pausing while at work / Sleep and my GF pulled out the plug to use the hoover. I was 19 hours in. Oh anyone remember having to change the tyres every second or 3rd lap? You ever forget and have to drive a full lap really slowly? That was a horror.

You mean the men need their sleep so they can get up and go to work while the boys play games for 24 hours? Yes, I see your point

You could take your 787B to the Indy Oval / Extreme Series (American Championship) and crank out the 10 lap race in 3.75 minutes / 4,400 points = 1,173 points per minute.

Out of interest, does that 3.75 minutes include the minute or two of finishing, seeing results, loading, credits dialog, XP dialog, exit race screen, loading, select race screen, loading, start race screen, loading, sitting on grid...?

Because if not, I think you might want to adjust your points per minute 👍

I agree, Grand Valley is a "grand" track, but I get to pass more cars in 6.75 minutes than I do in half an hour by doing the Indy Oval event. I enjoy it all but the Indy Oval is still a novelty for me at this point and it's just as much fun for me

thing is that this is my first Gran Turismo. Well, my 2nd, but my first was GT2 when I was a little kid. So I don't really count that. That's why I'm so confused on actual time endurance races.

That is ... realistic though. Maybe a little too realistic...

In the 24 hour le mans though, don't you usually switch between 3 drivers? How do they expect you to play for 24 hours straight?

Well ideally you have some friends over that can drive, and switch off with them. I've always wanted to run a long endurance race like this, but don't have any willing and able friends that live close enough to do it Seems like it'd be a ton of fun with the wheel and everything, making a whole day of it. Having to cook dinner in between your shifts

I've never met anyone in real life that played games that I enjoy. battlefield bad company 2, team fortress 2, left 4 dead 2, gran turismo series, final fantasy series, etc... but they play rockband lol.

I haven't found a friend that's into GT though (especially with a wheel). I have some friends that play forza, but not seriously.

So after that 5 hours in the gravel and the "Hoover Incident" happended did you bury B-Spec bob and your Missus in the Same Hole

I wish you could do these in some sort of online co-op so I'll do it with one of yous. I'll B-Spec you when your driving vice-versa. I seriously
a) Don't have 24hrs to set back
b) Can't trust my family to run consistent laps, been training them but they are..... useless. (Even my B-Spec is better)
