4 hour roadster challenge

I'm not sure I'll do the longer endurance races because I don't want my old fat 60gb PS to overheat and show me her yellow light!:yuck:
 
Real time endurance racing is one of the main reasons I love GT! Will make the grind go a lot faster knowing I'll be getting closer to serious race events!
 
I'm just at level 23 at the moment. I really can't wait to unlock the endurance events so I'm grinding like crazy to get there.
 
Ahm, just to let ppl know... The ps3 encounters problems by xonstantly changing temperatures rather than overheating; that is unless you have the ps3 contained in a box. The cause of ylod are the ball arrays that are used to fix the cpu and gpu on the mainboard. The material these balls are made of has a high point of meltdown but encounters problems - as mentioned above - with the tempersture going up then down again.

So its best to have your ps3 working rather than letting it rest and going back to it. Same goes for xbox360...

I believe the easy solution is to just not do them. But i'm not sure.
 
Sorry, you leet guys can talk about being manly men and hardcore all day but pausing a game and coming back isn't any more realistic than saving at pit stops and loading later. That's like saying health packs are more realistic than generating health in a fps. The simple solution would've been to not allow play past the pit save without invalidating the save point. That way people can't use it as a sort of rewind feature. You can pit,save, and quit or continue. Once the save is loaded its gone until another pit and quit. If Japanese developers weren't stuck in the 90's with their developing, we wouldn't have a problem.

I agree with this. I'm actually excited to get to these. Shortening 24 hour races into 24 minutes feels too fake for me. I wanted a Sim game, and that's what I got. 24 hours will be incredibly rough to do, but it would be in real life too. I'm excited to try it. :D

Ehh Duh, beacause in a REAL 24 hour race there are 3 drivers, not one lonely smuck

Overheat != YLOD. It's better to have your PS3 on than turning it on/off every hour.

Correct. There's any number of ways they COULD have done it that maintains the challenge while giving the flexibility to have a real life.

Instead they've gone for the laziest solution possible, do nothing.
 
Assuming this is a Miata only race? Or other Roadsters like the S2K allowed?
 
It is insane not to have mid-race saves.

Absolutely freaking ridiculous. I thought PD were smart.

It's not just an issue of simulating a 24hr race, but real world issues need to be taken into account, like ps3 overheating and people just getting bored.

I am a motor-racing fanatic, but i doubt i can sit in front of a tv for 24hrs and race.

4hrs, yeah probably, but that is pushing it.
 
Ill do the shorter ones (under 6hrs), but wont waste the time doing the longer ones until I get bored or they put in mid race saves. I'd be happy with something like series saves in GT4, must finish or exit the series to do any other races. Cant have a enduro in progress and do other races/stuff in general.

Took me over a week to do the LeMans 24 in GT4. That was not including my unsucessfull atempts. I did 4 hours one night then put the B-Spec driver in charge. When I got up he had been stuck in a sand trap for 4 hours. The other time I was pausing while at work / Sleep and my GF pulled out the plug to use the hoover. I was 19 hours in. Oh anyone remember having to change the tyres every second or 3rd lap? You ever forget and have to drive a full lap really slowly? That was a horror.

naah avoiding a race only because is too long it's not a great choice, I'll do the same thing I did with GT4, in the holidays I'll call a couple of friends (pop corn/fizzy drinks powered friends :D....) and we'll simply do a changeover after an hour or 2..... but the fact that you can't use the AI driver at least at night still bothers me :grumpy:

Do you need to get Gold on all endurance events to get the platinum trophy? In that case I won't be getting the Platinum!

You have to get gold on ALL events in the game, including license tests, special events and I assume B-Spec to get the platinum.

I like trophies and all but that's 96 hours just doing the two 24hr events in A and B Spec, that's insane. I'm just enjoying the game atm and taking things as they come but I suppose when I've been playing it for 6 months non-stop I may decide to take them on. Don't feel so bad now that I couldn't get all golds in the license tests!

Looking forward to these 4hr events though, that's a good endurance length for me.

1. Can the B-Spec driver drive during these races if you make a pit stop?

Is there a slight possibility that you didn't rank b-spec enough to let your drivers participate?
I'm playing B-Spec mode with the only intention that I can take stints with my b-spec drivers during endurance races. :scared:
 
I've just got to level 25 ,my first endurance race will be tonight I hope

btw I will do the full 24 hours ,it might take a full weekend but I'll use the full weekend to do it!
 
Guiding my B-Spec Bob through Sunday Cup in a LP670-SV was already a pain, how should I manage to let 4 B-Spec Bobbies take on a 24 hour race (without counting the insane amount of grinding needed to get them).

It looks like that I won`t drive any Enduros A/B-Spec in this game. Maybe those short 2 hour races, but 24 hours? I can`t play GT5 every day, right now it looks like that I can only play it 5-8 hours a week. I can`t let my PS3 on GT5 pausing screen for about a month...

Doing the (tedious / same) races over and over again to gain experience and level up.

when i first started out, and realized i will need more then 1 bob, (i sighed a little) but went the most primitive surefire way about it.
my first 3 bob's got to see every single race in every single event and so on.

when i unlocked the 5th i went ahead and tried him out on a lvl 17 track, (Turbo: race of turbo sports / High speed ring) dropped him in the seat of the mazda furai.
he'll race everyday cars so his stress bar will drop even @ class 0 ..i paced him down once on the first turn, other then that let him just run. he wins his first race, and he went from class 0 to class 4.

atm hes 17race's/17win's @ class14 and 25% tell class 15, lol one of my older bob's has 60race's/60win's @class 13 and 10% tell class 14. so clearly lvling up one,
then setting a noobie into the big boy's chair will save time.

now i have a few question's

1) they will have days they wont want to race at all, will this hurt the over all cultivation or not? maybe lvl up two ..then start dropping noobies into the seat.
2) altho bob #5's xp bar is ever so slightly lit up, is this a good or bad thing? i dont know, i have read some stating your drivers will get long in the tooth and you will need to retire them.
3) so is the xp bar his skill, or over all carrier?

Uhh, heard that YLOD's were mainly due to overheat. What does cause a YLOD?:confused: By the way I'd prefer your solution as I really love endurance races!:drool:

As far as I know, YLOD is caused by high temperature, low temperature then high temperature again. Correct me if I am wrong.

As for enduros the greatest games on PS always have them - see FFX12 with a 6-7 hour boss fight - they are there because you can if you want to...no one will think less of you if you don't ... but when you have :P it's just a little different.

ylod is caused when the solder solidifies severing the connection from the gpu/cpu to the board, by 'yes getting too warm. it was the 60gigs that had the hardest time with this, tho there are noted case's of the slims poping too.

just dont store the your ps3 in a drawer while using it ...give it room. the fan has 3 speed settings, if it speeds up a notch.. consider relocation or cleaning it to prevent this from happening.
