The Hommel is a tricky beast on sports hard tyres for sure. It's a fun drive if you can tame it though. If you want to make life easy for yourself take a Peugeot 205 '85 turbo 16 rally car, full ballast, full power limiter, reduce the aero and you can just get it under 450pp. Even the Alpine is no match for this car. It's such a contrast to the Hommel where you have to be very careful with the throttle or even in 4th gear it will step out. The Peugeot goes like it's on rails at this PP.

That Alpine A110 is quick at Tokyo 7 seconds quicker than my 205 turbo :scared:

So looking at the replay the stock A110 did a 1:54 on Tokyo? im still 2 seconds off a 2:00!

Yup. I must have had a different line-up when I did Tokyo the first time. I just tried against the Alpine and was miles away.

I got no idea how a stock A110 could do 1:54 on the opening lap !
I took my 206 rally car and only did 2:03s at best. All the other races where easy even in my 205 road car so its strange that Tokyo was this hard.

Nice, Deep Forest is always fun.

Grids give easy or hard races, The Pug 106 leading and things are easy pease citron presse. If the Dieppe Dazzler is on pole than things are much more frantic.

Used the Alpine A110 myself and much fun was had. (Comfort tyres and non of that Anti Lock Brake nonsence.)

People, you're silly :D

I did all of them alternating between 205 Turbo 16 (448 PP with a Spoiler on... gets me bad acceleration) and a Renault Clio Trophy Car (detuned engine) but with 450 PP.

The Clio is good for acceleration, it's pretty grippy but you need to break fairly hard on some tracks or else you'll understeer. Take the Clio on the tracks with more turns, but Tokyo track I was able to do with the 205 Turbo 16 due to a lot more power (better top speed) and less grippy more rally type handling (It drifts amazing for a small car :D)

The 908 is pretty good.... of course

Easy win with the Renault Sport Clio Trophy Race Car '00 on all tracks.

I love the Hommell! I've won a ton of credits with it. On this set of races I've discovered it drifts nicely too, but I'm not expert in drifting. Of all the cars on GT5, I'd buy a Hommell in a heartbeat if I found one for a reasonable price. 3 down, 2 to go in this series with it.

This has turned out to be a great sessional, won all races in the hommell, now having fun with some 80's French classics..Renault 5 Turbo '80, Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 '85..inc the rally variants of both, fantastic fun.

Can't seem to catch it either. Got to be 1 second behind with a clio v6...but couldn't get the little 110...

In these "catch the rabbit" seasonal events, the car that starts first always has a "fast" first lap because it starts 15 to 20 seconds ahead of your car. The lap time for that lead car starts when your car crosses the start line. The lead car therefore is only timed for part of the first lap. The times for the remaining laps will be more realistic. In this race, the A110 lap times on the second and third laps are 2:08:xxx each.
Another example is in the Eifel race. The lead Megane car had a 0:40:551 first lap and the remaining laps were 1:05:xxx or slower.
The stock Clio race car with max weight and power limiter decreased to 450PP can beat that A110 at Tokyo.

Do you use a "original" 205 ?, or you have a "set up" ? If you find things easy with an 205 you deserve credit, i couldn't beat all competition with a original 205 -hehe i might be a bad example here-
But i will try the 206 or the 16 valve '85, i should do better with those -fingers crossed-

And for the "chase the rabbit" starting procedure i give two 👎 .., i've said it before (and it's a bit off topic) but i'll like the day GT returns to a normal starting procedure.

Tanks for the "set-up's , tips & tricks" to all. Greeetings stano666 :)

People, you're silly :D

You really missed the point there Thor.

The point is to win at the lowest possible pp.
This becomes a function of the grid you race against and your car of choice.
Fact: Some grids are unbeatable (Japanese '80's festival Tsukuba with the Miata on pole for example) so reloading to get a playable grid is not cheating.
I just did Suzuka in a Xsara Rally Car '99 with 50% engine and max ballast. NO tuning, default trans. NO aids except ABS 1. Gave me 392 pp (the lowest I could get it). I won by about 3 secs without trying against a grid with a 106 S16 '03 on pole and a Bernadette on third.

This netted me 904,590 at 110% (been away for a few days). The Performance Difference Bonus was 613,640. This must equate to almost 1.7 mill at 200%? For 3 laps!

I'll see if I can do them all at this pp.

My question is how low can you go and in what car? Anyone?

It's not the tracks, it's the grids that count (the opposition if you will).
I believe there can be 10 or more different lineups in these seasonals.

I had in every race an Alpine on P1.

@ BFBulletMagnet:

Just wondered why you - being a mechanic for ages - hate Peugeots so much? Difficult to maintain? Any other reasons?

Thnx!

Megane '08 only good for silvers for me. Tuned Clio Renault Sport V6 Phase 2'03 made gold. An A wing on the back helped a bit, tuning similar to Praiano technique - soften and raise the rear suspension. Still a nice sliding car and having to watch the power oversteer made good runs. Here are the lap times needed

Deep Forest - 1:33
Clubman - 1:04
Suzuka - 2:32
R246 - 2:04
Eifel - 0:59

The Hommell did it for me with Minivanman's tune

Aero: -- / -15
Trans: 174 seemed to work well

LSD: 15/30/25

Ride Height: -20 / -20
Spring Rate: 6.3 / 7.4
Extension: 3 / 4
Compression: 3 / 4
Anti-Roll: 3 / 2

Camber: 1.7 / 1.0
Toe: 0.00 / 0.20

Brakes: 6 / 4

This is incorrect. All grids in every event to date can be beaten. For your example, just go to the thread that covers that event and you will see which cars people used to win against the Miata. I used the Honda Civic Mugen Motul Race Car '87 and won every time.

It was hard to catch that Alphine A110, or rather impossible, even with the Renault Clio. I just refreshed the race so that it swapped out the leader to a Renault Megane, and I used the Clio 5 (Cinque in French?) Turbo. Easy win, though my car drove like it was possessed by Tanner Foust.

Easy win with the Xsara Rally Car '99

Finally finished this. Renault Sport Clio V6 with aero parts fitted. Couldn't do Tokyo without them, too much involuntary drifting...eifel was hard but the track was almost new for me, took some tries to beat the 110 by one second.
Still get the feeling that the last series of seasonals include races with uneven difficulty levels. Tsukuba for the japanese 90, Nurgburgring with the lambos...but maybe it's just me.

I used my 205 Turbo 16 with oil change and ECU chip. Any race without the Alpine should be a fairly easy victory. Maybe I got lucky but I only encountered that as the first car once.

Is there a reason why nobody takes the Peugeot 207 GTI?

Won the first four races with a fully tuned 207, the engine detuned to 450pp.

Cannot win the blasted Eiffel Kart circuit. Anyone suggest an easier car???

205 Turbo 16. Give it a little tune and it can do it

I was away from the ps3 and couldnt exactly remeber the name of it so it was the Lutecia Renault Sport V6.

It's a funny old world. I've been having real trouble with Tokyo reverse and could only manage second with a variety of cars. In desperation I thought I'll give this one a try and won first time out!

Thanks for the tip :)

Iv done it with my lutencia renault sport, great little car, lots of fun, love to drift aswell :p going to down tune it and race again because it was fairly simple :)
