Congrats to Nic for finishing first, and WiiFreak for a 2nd place finish. Since Nic picked this week, WiiFreak gets to pick a premium car that can be tuned for 450pp on sport soft tires. Also pick a track that will promote clean racing and passing opportunities.
As for the starts. I agree they were very sloppy. The first few turns of any race drivers should not expect to be running at the full limits of their tires. The first turn is not about passing 4 cars, its about turning a double file start into a single file running order. Just because you get the jump on someone off the grid doesn't give you the right to make it 4-wide into turn 1. After all, the draft skews starts significantly so that cars toward the rear have passing power when they really shouldn't.
The room was private so everyone there was on my friend list...some drivers were just being way to aggressive and attempting passes in places that simply slow down the entire pack. I myself am guilty of tapping someone on the first turn...but rather than plow through, I lifted off and slowed to make sure they got back on the track. During that split second, I was plowed over by several cars.
I think a good tip for the front cars, or all cars, is to move to the inside of the track immediately after the start. Hug the inside of the turn at a slower pace and force any divebombers to the outside. Don't give them the option to go inside on you. If you watch real racing this is typically what happens.
Also, check your friggen mirrors and program buttons to look left and right. There is no excuse for pushing someone off the outside of the track because you didn't see them.
