i think i bumped diabolic into a penalty in tgtt, sorry if i did!

the c2 of 69 was good. the c5 was faster but with my surprise the handling of the convertible was fantastic! on deep forest revers i was flyin!on the last race my ds3 died when i was behind twichie:scared:

The '63 was fast in a straight line but had horrible understeer entering corners and mid-corner. i tried a few things but any changes caused corner exit oversteer. i think i needed to drop the weight and add ballast to the rear to do something about the 60/40 distribution.

Visually, you can see that the '69 has wider tires than the '63...and I'm certain that is why it corners better. The '63 feels a lot like the Cougar. It has great balance exiting turns but it just plows into them because the tires simply don't have the same grip. I tried low camber, high camber, messing with toe, and different spring rates but no matter what, my car plowed when I tried to follow anyone else's speed into turns. Trail braking only made things worse. Granted I was at the stock weight with no ballast but I'm thoroughly convinced that SS tires on one car are not equal to SS tires on another car.

i was sure that the 63 was the better vette. its a coupe and its more rigid than the convertible. i did not find the 63 in the dealer so i picked the 69.

It was plenty rigid...but it just plowed through every turn. I would gain time on the straight and just lose it all back on one turn. I was slowing everyone down in the corners because I couldn't keep it from running wide no matter how much I slowed down. After about 5 laps at Nurb GP/F the front tires were at 50%.

How are you guys getting this straight line speed? Both Vettes I ran last night were underpowered.

I was curious on this as well? Adding ballast instead of decreasing power to bring down the PP?

Thanks chuyler1 for adding me and allowing me to join your races. Booch16 referred me, it was fun but i'm a little rusty having not played GT5 much in the last couple months. I'm hoping to join up more often though.

The 63 Vette was only like 420pp stock. I dropped on an ECU, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and sport exhaust. Then I set the transmission to a top speed of 180 mph. Redline was like 7,000 but peak power was at 5,200. I shifted to keep it within 4,500-5,500 the entire time. It pulled like a mo-fo unless I forgot to shift early. If I could just get it to turn it would've been at the front every race...but after a lap my front tires wore out trying to run the same corner speeds as everyone else.

I won at TGTT by being the only car not to get a penalty. Diabolic had the win but he must have been staring in his rearview through Bacharach as he went way wide letting me coast to victory.

To get speed out of the vettes you need to shift early. Tourqey V8 doesn't need to hit redline.

If only you could get custom grind camshafts in this game..... :grumpy:

You could fix it, and make a hell of a car.

That's true....My C1 corvette was awesome and very competitive for about 3 laps...after that it was on ice.At least it was a delight for esh (he beat me at the end of every race)XD

Yeah, I think we were in the same boat Nic. The game must have a model for tire width in addition to tire compound. Unfortunately you are stuck with the tire width they give you.

I think they might compensate for width by giving cars with narrow tires more power...but that only works out on tracks where you can pull away on the straight.

You weren't the only one without a penalty...;) Hence my second only a few tenths behind 👍

Ahh yes, you were hanging back in the wings...another lap and my tires would have been bald enough for you to get me and for Diabolic to get back on track and catch up.

I don't like racing TGTT online. The edges of the track are hard to find once people knock the cones off, the proper line is not well marked, and it is difficult to pass without getting a penalty.

Don't do it. You'll never get back in.
