I guess the lag was my fault then. Interesting. I have a 20mb broadband connection and I've never had issues that I recall. Maybe I'll connect the PS3 via ethernet instead of wireless if I host again.

You have a 20 mbps connection. But, you may need to check your upload. DSL has notoriously lower upload speeds then broadband.

I have a 12 mbps upload which is about 5x higher then average. This really makes a difference while hosting.

our internet comes by dog sled up here. ;)

sorry i couldnt host last night, should be ok going forward.

btw, i use a wire to connect to the dog sled.

I am surprised chuyler gets away with wireless. I would never recommend hosting any servers with a wireless network.

Very little interference in my house. The same wifi router was horrible back when we were in our condo. Too many other routers nearby. I had to hardwire everything. At the new house, I can watch Netflix streaming in HD with no hiccups.

Generally wireless just isn't a constant connection like ethernet is. That would explain how sometimes there are little explosions of speed from particular cars when in your lounge, but overall it's still pretty solid.

To have that download you should have at least 5Mbit upstream, which should be plenty. My guess would be the wireless being the problem, or depending on your ISP and if you're using the provided router/AP/modem, the box not being able to handle that many concurrent connections when NAT is in use.

Chuyler, I would bet if we switched the host to myself or someone else on Wednesday, the people seeing other cars problem might fix itself. It's worth testing at least another day of the week.

Occasionally specific drivers have problems...but I've raced wheel to wheel with drivers lap after lap without problems. I'd run a hardwire if it were possible, but the TV is on the opposite side of the house as the office and I need my office computer hard-wired for video uploads and work.

I think if there was a problem on my end, complaints would be rampant.

I'm not convinced that it's not a GT5 issue.

I typically host on wednesdays but could not last night. When I am hosting, I don't believe (someone correct me if I am wrong) we see issues. Cable/Wired.

we had the invisible car issue Tuesday when Garris hosted...i think it is a private lobby thing.

hmmm, i would love that "certain explosion of speed".....:lol::lol:

I just use wireless when doing some testing and for the Seasonal events but when i race online, my PS3 is hardwired to my modem. Couldnt risk beeing booted out in the middle of the race or having these lag issues ruin my online racing experience. In my area alone, theres 4-6 detectable wifi signals, its a bit crowded. I live in a duplex townhome.

there are a few unprotected wifi networks i can detect, maybe i can get into their settings and shut them down when i'm playing hehe

I do live in an apartment building with 30 other units, not to mention the many businesses and other buildings in downtown Olympia. I used to be able to connect to the Starbucks wifi from our apartment. The router is secure though. I change the password every month and have static IPs for all my devices. I use the ps3 for MLB.tv and Netflix as well and never have issues. Like I said though, I'll probably just switch to a wired connection.

Wait, you can watch MLB.tv on the ps3?? I've been watching on my 15" MBP...

Yeah, you have to login to your account on a standard browser (wont work on ps3s browser) click on activate ps3 and it gives you a code. Go to the ps store and download the MLB app and enter the code. I don't remember where the app is on the ps store. It's not under video. It's an annoying process and takes longer than it should bit it's cool when you get it up. The game replays are nice because it gives you a scroll bar with the inning and points you can instantly forward to to watch every hit, run, etc. I usually use iPhone to watch so it's a nice break to have a nice big picture. I don't have the premium subscription but even without hd the picture is pretty good.

I might be running late for the first race. Hope i can still catch up!

I'll be joining tonight, but not until ~10:30pm. Work has been crazy busy lately, but busy=$$$ so I can't complain.

Well, my modem pooped last night, so I have to either run with no internet for anybody for me, or go buy a router, not 100%, but I "should" make it.

Screw everyone else... That's my motto at least.

If chuyler doesn't get on in 10 minutes or so, I'll host tonight's lobby if you guys want.

Can you post the room number?

Who do I need to send req. too. Chuyler1 has reached the PSN limit

I've got a room up I've been practicing in, but as you may have read I may not be the best candidate. (I didn't bother with the Ethernet cable yet.) I will wait for your room if that's okay Grenade.

Nvm, chuyler just signed on.

Ah ****. chuyler just got on. I am leaving room. wait for him to host.

I'm gonna miss the first race, but will be on later. (watching le tour de france) 👍
