I think he means laps, not hours. You cannot race 14 hours on about 100 litres of fuel. One of the ferrari's was very fuel efficient and could do 14 laps instead of 12 for the other teams

This, plus there's the matter of driver changes. Can you imagine racing non-stop for 14 hours?

There was a guy in I think it was 1947 who did the whole race by himself. These days you're not allowed to do more than 4 hours in a 6 hour period.

I'm curious though. Putting driver changes out of the equation, is a 458 race car able to race continuously for 14 straight hours?

It seems that Team Felbermayer forgot to hand over the blue light given them in the Nürburgring 24h race, its still firing away on the windshield of their Porsche(s).

Mr. Pierre Levegh if I'm not mistaken. A man most remembered, sadly, for being involved in the darkest incident of motorsports history.

They did that for the last few years. Pretty good idea, makes them recognizable.

You're right, in 1952. The motor faillure what most sites say is actually driver error. He misshifted and blew the engine. Pretty obvious if you drive this long.

I remember that I read something really funny about that one man 24-hr stint, though I don't recall exactly where.

When a news reporter asked Lavegh if he made any arrangements for using the bathroom his answer was: "Dark green overalls boy!!!" Now, that's dedication!.

Ah, right. Back when men were men, of course.

Racing in a 4.5L Talbot Lago for 24 hours while going to the bathroom in your own overalls and forgoing eating and sleeping isn't something for men. It's the stuff only done by demigods. I'm amazed his only mistake was a mis-shift. With that kind of exhaustion, many other things could've gone wrong!

Just woke up from a 2-hour nap. How are Ordonez's team and AF Course-Waltrip doing?

#45 seems to have mechanical problems or something, stalled at the Indianapolis corner and it's probably crawling to the pits now

#3 Audi catching up to Nicola Prost. With 8 hours left, it's safe to asume it's Audi 1-2-3-4

And the GT-Pro Aston diven by Mücke goes off at Indy!!!! :ouch::ouch::ouch:
