What shall we do about tyre wear?

Pipi- Nice info on the testing ill make a note of it.

Dave- I had 2 calibras, the red top 2.0 and the turbo 4x4, both lowered on 17's/16's respectivley and I slapped an exhaust on the redtop too. They both handled great on the welsh lanes and I embarrassed a few imprezas etc. Which cally did you have.
I need to check with someone who asked about a space and ill get back to you 👍

i'm currently in the D-max BTCC series, but other that, you will usually find me in a Nurb Nord free run room hehe.

Ah great to know there are others out there that have a great bit of respect for the mighty Calibra :-D mine was the crappy X20XEV ecowreck engine lol, although it certainly upset many tuned Japanese machines round here lol. unfortunately due to job loss and the engine randomly having an argument with all 8 inlet valves, she has a new owner now.....

by the way, im living in ireland, but i'm actualky originally from sunny south yorkshire :-D does that mean i get a half and half flag for the teams lol
 
Noooo, not the eco wreck!
The red top had its problems (cooling channel I believe) but was a very willing motor and really pulled in the high revs. 50 in 2nd and 90 in third and run in would get very close to 150mph. I sold mine to a guy in NI but by that time it had cress growing on the carpet :( sad days but it got too expensive to maintain.
The turbo was a cool car, I was younger then so had smoked glass/lights and the roof n boot spoiler combo. It was a big hit with the ladies too (heated leather seats :sly:)

Anyway, I am boring the others so ill shut up and welcome you to the championship!
Oh and I will change the flag if I have to :banghead: is it the union flag or the st. George you be wanting?
 
lol i had all the extra's on mine too, ultimate pimp mobile lol :-p

union jack would be my preffered choice please mate lol!!

did some testing with the cally at the ring, very happy with it so far, look forward to seeing how it stacks up against everybody else

I won't be there, I'll be racing with the NASCAR guys. Same for Knelly, I presume.

I'm doing it on easy or normal, I forgot which one....but I'm still dying a fair bit Haha loving the story though!
 
I will need to get a LOT better if I'm even going to complete hard :D

Oh and I'm definitely up for some survival later when we finish on GT5
 
:lol: you gotta take cover and use all the little tricks. On U3 they have programmed the AI to split up and flank you constantly, its a nightmare. 9pm GT5 and 10pm U2?

In the hour I guess we should do DTM's to say hi to Dave and run some tests. FGTC is tomorrow night as usual, we can do some mini races for fun and to see the bug situation 👍

PS Glad your addicted now you will have to play U1! No online but the 1p is amazing. then U3 :D

Thaks for helpin out tonight with the testing guys. Ill add the race results to what I have already got and do some proper testing on Monday. 👍

Good fun on U2, still got slaughtered every single time by brett though :D

Oh and in the testing earlier i thought the PP limit was good. It might be worth trying that again, it makes it more interesting when tuning. Trying to find the right balance between weight/power/aero for the specific track.
 
Yeah awesome, we kicked butt in the deathmatches, I thought it would have been tougher than that. I reckon the next time you play you and sandman will beat me, you are learning my tricks now :)

I liked the PP limit too but more tests have to be done!
 
I thought the PP limit was the worst, we were a lot more spread out for that one than before, plus Pagey was a second a lap faster in his alfa when were usually the same pace, but its good in the sense it gives you even more variation on setup so I think we should test it some more at some other tracks, maybe ones we all have good setups for? Because the first two races I was still getting my setup right so I couldnt really test how the car felt.
 
From my point of view I dont mind which method that we use, just that we get the cars right. We will continue testing a few more theories but first I will set my car up to a 560 PP limit so we can test together. Set yours up as close as you can and we can race on a number of tracks tomorrow or tuesday.
 
Quick update on my situation Brett Logitech will replace my wheel free of charge as its less than 2 years old whooooo!! Thats the good news bad news is it could take up to a month for a new one to turn up:yuck: So if you want to replace me in the series ofcourse i understand fella no probs.:indiff:

We dont know when the bug is going to be fixed and if its only the first race or 2 you can use the DS3. Not good after getting used to a wheel but needs must when the devil vomits on your eiderdown!
 
Good racing last night guys, a few dirty traits out there but hey ho, they will get ironed out no doubt.

In the first race I felt my car was a serious loss on the power front, and the weight certainly didnt help.... As we went on though, I not only discovered that the power was the least of my worries, but my car just wanted to understeer badly into corners, and then the rear end would let go as soon as I got the front under control lol.

The final race I was starting to get somewhere though! With the power upped, the weight lost, and a few tweeks to the suspension/diff/torque diff and I felt more competetive. I was still experiencing a few issues with handling, but there was definately an improvement there!

I think Berty saw a little bit of my Calibra's previous life as a drifter in the final few corners haha!

Was a bit surprised to see no mics in use though, as it would drastically cut down the annoying message box popping up everytime (very annoying when ploughing into left handers and losing vision becuase of the box haha!!)

All in all though, a good night, and look forward to the series getting underway - hopefully the whitewash of Merc's will be less apparent once everybody else rocks up the party lol!
 
The calibra is a tough drive in this series but we are hoping to get the settings/tuning right so we can compete. I have won a few practice races but 2nd is my best out of the first few proper races we had.
I banned mics for an experiment with the bug thing, normally there is lots of banter going on and it helped with the lag but took some of the enjoyment out for me.
Lets hope PD fix this so we can crack on with the series.
 
John, why not use a controller until you get your new wheel?

Have tried guys but i'd be a accident waiting to happen my tippy tappy cornering with the DS3 leaves alot to be desired:crazy: will see how things pan out:tup: Good news Brett didnt want out just thought i'd throw you the option all good.:D
 
My opinion i think more power is good but i didnt like the extra weight. Alfa was very hard on its tyres and very unstable. I think the mercs didnt do well with all that extra weight
I really dont like PP, sorry but it doesnt always work
I think more power (443bhp) and weight limit to 1040kg, 👍

Yeah the extra weight killed the handling a little, after 5 laps my front tyres were badly worn in the alfa
 
Andy- The weight/power you mentioned is my choice but we might as well test while we cant race!

Pagey- The cally is evil on the fronts too but I was chucking it around last night rather than being precise :)
