What shall we do about tyre wear?

Ah yes because bret is usually like a ballet dancer in his calibra ;)

What's going on? Have I missed a race or something?

Fill me in Brettinho.

Nothing going on, we just ran some short races the other night. These guys are talking about the bug, personally I dont buy the fact that it has been around before the latest update (the one with the dynamic cam). I think any problems before this were down to connection as we had no trouble in the FGTC with regards to slow/fast laps.
Read up on the bug if you like but it will make you paranoid :lol:

Actually, you made a good point there Bret, its since the update with the new cam, could the new cam effect the frame rate? because Ive found that mine does glitch after a while and stops working, and you said that was something to do with frame rate didnt you? And with faster cars it will move faster - more information for it to keep up with making the problem worse, plus there wasnt much else they updated was there? Its a possibility anyway.

Well from my own experiences and what I have read (minus the BS) I get the following.
The more info. the machine has to send down the line the worse the problems are, tyre wear, damage visual, damage actual, boost, wheel input, comms devices, chase cam and replay info. are all clogging the system. Then add that we are driving the 2nd fastest cars on the game (x1's counted as one) further increasing frame rates you start to get an idea of the causes. Did anyone else notice that the effects were worse at Monaco in the FGTC? I did and I think it is probably one of the most graphically demanding tracks on the game. Unless PD come up with something we might have to race 10 man rooms with all the settings on standard and no tyre wear= game is finished for me :(

My opinion i think more power is good but i didnt like the extra weight. Alfa was very hard on its tyres and very unstable. I think the mercs didnt do well with all that extra weight
I really dont like PP, sorry but it doesnt always work
I think more power (443bhp) and weight limit to 1040kg, 👍
Just my opinion :) thanks for testing

*cough* well my Qualy Times wheren´t that bad (2nd and 3rd) :D

In addition: Why are the Alfa´s and Cally´s complaining ??
The Benz is my 3rd fastest Car out of them 3 :D
And I can do with all many Laps => no Tire-wear issues.
But that might be you useing a wheel
=> you can "over steer"
=> more front Tire wear
=> my tunes are better xDDDD *joke*

Also monaco is a tiny track, youve got all that info, the cars going that fast in a space what, less than 2 square miles? Daytona we had the same amount of drivers but the track is huge

Sakery! Behave :lol: you must just be the vettel of GT5 :D

Pagey- Another point to consider, there are probably more too.

All- I am going to be running a few more tests tonight (830pm) on the cars (last session before decision). Join me if you like, I will be running all three cars myself and selecting the setting for the first race of the season.

I think the problem would be fixed by just taking off all the unnecssary things they put on the last update that add to all the information that there already is, so the camera (that doesnt even work) and whatever else they did, then it would go back to normal.

Edit: Sakery isnt lying about his setup, hes really good with them! He gave me it and all the understeer disappeared :D

I´m not near being the Vettel :D
I can´t even gold the V-Challenge (or get near Bronze).

I have a suggestion:
VX is the heaviest Car with 1060kg
=> minimum weight 1060kg

The Benz has the lowest power output due to being ´92 with 295kw (400-402 bhp)
=> all are limited to 295kw (400-402 bhp)

I pre season tested them with only the power (no turbo just powerlimited) and all felt equal.
All where in 0.3 seconds on the Nürb GP/D.
=> let´s try that.

BTW: I´m not likong the pp thing too. 1180kg was way better :D

I think the higher BHP bracket is definately a winner, the weight should be fair for all too, adding weight to the Cally really makes a noticeable difference no matter what the power

Its the direction we are heading at the moment mate, we will give it a test tonight and see how we get on. Half 8 if your free 👍

Here is a shot of the Turbo I used to own back in the day :D

Are my eyes deceiving me? Are they TSW Venoms :lol: :lol: :lol:

Well for you guys only, here is the Corsa I straight swapped in return for the Calibra

Picture033.jpg

1.0 to 1.4 16v engine swap, sportex full exhaust system (made the car sound like a V6 :cool: full interior stripped including all sound deadening, bar the dash and seats. Seatbelts replaced with 4point harnesses, mk2 Astra Digi dash, 256mm Astra GSi front brake setup, and Astra GSi rear discs to replace the drums, Corsa GSi front bumper with smoothed swage line, Irmscher rear bumper with smoothed swage line, Astra GSi bonnet vents, and a set of refurbished Cav slabs to finish the look :D

Anyway, that went, and this replaced it

DSC03858.jpg

full leather, electric windows, mirrors, sunroof (you get the picture)

when the F18 gearbox gave up I swapped out the heavy flywheel with one from a 2.0 8valve engine to make her rev better, and fitted a F20 box from a C20XE "redtop"

Also fitted a Storm single wiper conversion, Irmscher 30mm lowering springs, and a V6 24mm Anti Roll Bar up front, and that was that, until this happened:

ouch :(

Unfortunately she has moved on from me to a new owner who is also a Calibra lover up the country, and now I am left to roll round town in the girlfriends Astra, which sports my Pioneer DVD/iPod blah blah blah player which is probably worht more than the car itself lol, and the Calibra's original 21mm ARB to stiffen up the front end a tad:

No expense spared on this 1.4 8v beastie:

pmsl!!!!!

Anyway, back on topic, see you in 30mins!!!!

:lol: at the mighty cable ties coming to the rescue (again). I thought for a minute you were going to tell me there was a red top in the corsa!
The cally was definatley an underestimated car in its time and I think the turbo cost a pretty penny when new. Your model was the most aerodynamic producction car for 10 years after its inception too. Enough with the car geek talk for now though, see you in 20 👍

I was at the scrap yard one day, and some guys saw the GSi vents on the bonnet, and helped themselves at popping the bonnet thinking a redtop was hiding under there lol!! It certainly shifted though, that is now living in some part of Dublin with a redtop in lol, doesnt look anywhere near as loved as when I had her :(

Yeah, the Cally had the lowest drag co-effiecient for its time (2.0 8v only - redtops, ecotecs, turbos, and V6's were 0.27 as opposed to 0.26 for the 8v ;) ), which for a 4seater was incredible, and also better than the likes of Ferrari could manage at the time! IMO they still look awesome and fresh out of the factory with most of todays cars on the road!

Oh no! You mean your eco beat my turbo by 0.001 in the wind tunnel :lol: I feel cheated :D

Its was certainly ahead of its time and will remain vauxhalls 2nd best car to date IMHO. (and they were venoms)

Andy- I thought you might :D

Because its not fair on the Merc's, was trying to help you out :lol:

I think a bit more weight 1040/1060 and then 450bhp and free turbo choice and the racing will be closer 👍
