Sorry Rhyf. Just realised I sent the results to a .com email address rather than your .co.uk address...

I am having a turnip for lunch :)

A Doctor in Disconbobulation - Niiiiccccce 👍

Still reeling over my second place, last night. About to watch the replays (funnily enough looking forward to the Fuji one where I went from third to sixth with two laps left, as there was much more pressure.

Time to change my Sig I think as well.

Your pole steal at Fuji is still making me chuckle Word very nice.:sly:

Btw good to read your doing well Knelly.👍

Thanks man, it was a great start.

Could have been better at Fuji but nerves while being chased down by three cars, while in third made for a very squeaky bum moment, and lost my cool.

GVS, should have been third but Brett decided he needed a 2 pit strategy.

But if you don't get luck, you don't get good finishes. Plus, I am improving.

Go Alfa!

Improving is key careful though Div 1 beckons!:sly:👍

Yes Go Alfa! Thank god reliability isnt an issue in GT5 no doubt the Alfa electrics would have gone by now.:nervous:

Bret, out of interest, how do some/most of you have points going into a new race series? Is that something that has been overlooked, or are these people paying you backhanders to fund a rather sexy VX220?

I spotted Sandman and Pipi have points, and I was thinking to myself "I'm sure they couldnt make it last night" haha!

Are you really my unknown Welsh brother too? both owned and love Cally's, both want to own a VX220 at some point in the near future, both love GT5, whats next? You going to tell me you wouldnt say no to a BMW Z4? :P

I personally think the settings were fine as they were... I definitely have enough skill to be winning these races, I should be no where near last, and definitely not over 20 seconds behind! Ok I was held up big time by a few people whos quality of driving was quite poor, breaking the rules about 5 times a lap, but I shouldnt have been racing with them in the first place, its stupid, if the same thing happens next race Ill probably be leaving. In quali I was over 1 second behind the fastest lap time, and ETID was around 2 seconds slower! I dont think we should be penalised just because were fast, your all happy because you have a competitive car, I dont think anyone from team Merc, thad a good result, he best finish was a 4th by Etid and the 3 guys behind him couldnt catch up because they were too busy tripping over each other every corner, whereas last time it was evenly spread out between everyone. And dont even think about bringing up the last two races we did (SSR5 and TM), Team Alfa werent even there so its hardly a representative result. Sort it out or Im going to get pissed off.

:scared: Gone to hide.

Cant believe Brett would be trying to handicap anyone thats deemed fast mate, yeah think most of us agree the Merc needs a little help which Bretts doing isnt he? Somewhere between the original and last nights regualtions should see us right, its close to being spot on.
Would also mention you say tripping over each other was that close racing? Rather than before when you say things were evenly spread out? Jusk clarifying.

I honestly dont see whats wrong with the old settings, in both of the first two races last time, in both divisions, we had one driver from each team, pretty much, in the top 3 spots all within a few seconds of each other, compare that to the results this time, ino Merc driver got into the top 3 in either division, and the gap between the leader and the first Merc was over 10 seconds! And in Quali the gap between the Alfa in 1st (Andy) and the Merc in 2nd (Me) was only 0.5 seconds, with SM in a Cally in 3rd not far behind, this time I think a it was a Cally driver in 1st (Wordup) with an Alfa in 2nd (JB?) not far behind, but the first Merc was in 5th (Me) over a second behind! And that was the best lap Id done so far by 0.2 seconds. And although you may not want to penalise faster drivers, thats pretty much whats happened. I win, (just!) you all complain even though the cars are perfectly even and the only speed "difference" is 1mph, and get the settings changed making it impossible for us to win... So now even if the setting do get "fixed" so we can start winning again, were already quite far behind on points.

race 1: qualified 3rd but was last for some reason. Race got great start like normal and got into 4th. overtaking was hard on the opels. they had good pace and could run long runs and it was hard to catch them and be good on the tyres. Jb is quicker than me at Fuji so i didn't believe i could beat him or be close to him but im a bit confused as to why i couldn't catch or match the opels as i was just as good but was stuck in the middle field
lots of do or dies moves. annoying as i thought the lead driver had the right of line.

race2 great start again and got.from 3rd to 1st. then turn 5 got a massive hit and they were about 4 car lengths behind. but was still 3rd. very hard to pass and just struggled with grip and tyre wear. at the end with 4 laps to go lost 14 seconds and lost 4 places. mercs not too bad but agree with the power not great
alfas felt good as we werent running away compared to the opels.

tbh im just was getting people diving down the inside. most annoying thing was people doing 2 moves when i was side by side. really stupid stuff. still thinking about leaving, but i'll turn up next week.

haven't watched the video but will tonight and just see what happend from other angles but Fuji is a hard track to overtake/defend.

Spurgy you told me not to mention it but I'm going to :D
The first time round in division 2 the mercs were awesome at SSR5 and trial mountain. You won both races, I only won SSR5 out of shear luck, Joe should have taken the top spot. And I think Joe won at trial mountain.
This combined with brett tweaking the horse power will bring the merc right back into it.

Before the calibras found it very hard to fight for the win, brett had to drive his socks off, where as the mercs easily had the pace, as you, ETID, Joe and others proved.
But now the calibras are looking strong and the mercs less so.
My point is perfection is near impossible with more than one manufacture competing in a championship.
It's a case of trial and error, sit tight dude, I'm sure you will come back into it 👍

Just pulled those few bits out to apologise if I was in anyway driving in a horrific manner. I know that in both races, a few times I made some mistakes, but I paid the price by loosing a bit of time/a position at the same time, but still, I am sorry if I am to blame for your general displeasure mate.

Ah so much to read and reply too.
Pagey, so are you saying that just winning at SSR5 which is better suited for the Mercs, and then losing at TM again not by much im guessing, is not balanced? Granted the Calibras werent as fast at SSR5 as my tests showed (.5 slower) but they are faster at other tracks, and .5 was the same gap between the Alfa and Merc at Fuji, so whats the problem with that? And in Div 1 our main rival from Cally (SM) didnt even practice, he just turned up with whatever he had. My point is that although perfection is hard, we were close enough as it is and we have gone completely the wrong direction!

Dave, Ill send you a PM because im not sure if im allowed to talk about my opinion on your overtakes or not because of the no public complaints rule thing. :)

Wordup- Thats cool mate ill pick them up now, let me know the results of any complaints you look into. I didnt get any so easy night for me :D Congrats on your win, great start for you 👍 (turnip reference=1 brownie point :D)

Knelly- Nice sig :D Thanks for bringing up my lame 2nd pit too  enjoy the replay!

Johnboy- Expect the Alfa to dissolve on the weather tracks later on in the season

Dave- I awarded a small amount of bonus points to the top finishers of the aborted season to reward them for all the tuning/practice they put in. These people had no connection problems so I deemed it fair. I was totally your bro until the Z4 comment, I dream of the 135 M sport as my most wanted beemer aaaarrrggggh :D

Spurgey (swallows hard and unknots muscles)- Dude, I am going to try and be nice just one more time. Mercedes were too quick before, they are so light they were 3-4 seconds faster at SSR5 and dead even at TM. Thats not right in the same way that last night wasnt easy on Merc, thats why we are finding a middle ground! Dont rant on about leaving to someone who is working hard to even things up, or your next reply will be something quite different :banghead:
If you honestly think your driving skill is worth 4 seconds over me on a short lap then thats fine, but I would keep those ridiculous comments to yourself.
Have you sent a message to Wordup about Dave's overtakes?

Didn't you win all 4 of the races though? Yes some may not have been easy but 4 wins is pretty overwhelming, and that was with the mercs awful start.

If I was winning races then to have the regulations changed I would feel hard done by when I start finishing down the grid, that's understandable.
But when you look at the bigger picture the BHP and weight limits are being changed to bring the merc back into it.

Edit: I pretty much said what brett said :D he beat me to it.....enjoy this moment brett

Just apologised to Spurgey for my efforts last night, I blame bumper cam/DS3, and the impossibility of looking left/right when turning into a corner haha! Top tip, zoom the map in!! :P

a 1M? meh, nice, but a properly sorted Z4 (wouldnt say no to a roadster) is definately a bird puller. The 1M blends in with the rest of the range a little bit too much. Z4's aint that common on the roads IMO ;)

I dont see many Z4's but they advertise themselves as a fast motor (I want the VX220T for that). M1 is awesome in the way that most people would try and have a go and then get slaughtered. I can put the baby in the back and the missus in the front too (admittedly cowering in the footwell ).
Oh and I dont need help pulling the ladies, I am pretty enough as it is :D

Pagey- I can feel a list coming on (if you won the lottery what would your ten car garage look like)

I have dreamt of an Orange VX220T for god knows how long now! with a set of the VXR220 seats ;)

as for the family thing, but the baby in the boot, and the misses on the roof :P

You pretty? I heard the only thing you pull is your 3rd leg over white fluffy objects :P

If I was to have a garage of my 20 favourite cars the 2011/12 Z4 would definitely be in it

Abso-freaking-lutely!! I saw a gorgeous yellow one on Pistonheads a while back, oh my god I had a crisis!

My favourite Z4's are the earlier shaped ones though.... mmmmmm :)

Oh, if any of you didn't know, Top Gear is back this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking forward to it, some interesting stuff in the advert 👍

Orange would be cool, what colour wheels?
I like, blue VX220T with white alloys or red with black. Big spoiler and a few mods to 250bhp. Apparently if you supercharge a 2.2 they eat the turbos all up!

I know your working hard to get these setups right, but it might be easier for you if you let me help! I do lots of tests, granted I dont expect you to just take my results and say well thats that then, but I think youll find that most of them have been pretty accurate in terms of quali/race results. And dont forget that we havent got to tracks that favour the AWD cars, such as Nurb GP/D and Laguna etc. And if you were 3-4 seconds a lap slower than me at SSR5, im sorry to say but that was mostly down to either, the car doesnt suit your driving style, you didnt like the track or your setup wasnt quite right, or a combination of the 3. I would never say you were a bad driver but I think almost everyone could do a time below the 1.26s at SSR5, at least in Div 1 anyway. And if the Callys are the ones that are slow, why not just give them a boost, like free rubo choice or something and leave the Alfa and Merc as they are? I know your working hard to sort things out, I just wish you would let me help you a bit more.
And yes, I think I mentioned that I did tell Wordup just after the race, Ill probably send him a more indepth complaint like I sent you.

EDIT: I think I should stop writing such big replies, I end up missing half of what youre all talking about :D

Black Compomotives / Prorace 1.2's :)

I would go for one of the little boot lip spoilers initially, but once the power is there, whack an Exige spoiler on hehe :P

Yeah, the supercharger kits for the 2.2's are mental once set up, proper boys bit of track kit!

Spurgey- You help me with 50% of my testing and I always listen to you. Just forget it for now and leave it to me.

Dave- I hear the suspension on the NA cars needs some tweaking or it will murder you at high speed so some spax shockers+springs would be on the list for the supercharged car. I think the NA engine was alloy while the turbo got steel. Every kg helps :D

Off to luch (with flossie, my favourite ewe :D)

can we do testing with only the fastest guys from each team because its pointless if one guy does it we only see that guys speed and he might suit that car more or have a very good setup etc

only my view

Brett - Ok :)
Andy - Good point, idealy I think everyone should test all the cars on default settings if they have them, that way we will be able to see patterns in the speed of each car a lot more easily, but as you said it does depend on how each person suits each car. I mean if we all had no life other than GT5 we could all test each car at every track on the calender, but something tells me that could get quite boring :D

I would buy a garage and fill it full of Beemers of all kinds, as many as I could fit in there .......... then burn the s**thole down.

Being an Audi owner and all that.

F OFF, THAT STRETCH OF M40 IS MINE TO TAILGATE ON!!!!!!!
