What shall we do about tyre wear?

Ill do my race reports in the morning, need to watch the replays as so much happened! But I had a really good first lap in the second race, went from last to 3rd in one lap :D And then caught up to Smartheart and then Knelly and we had a good clean battle, after that I just had to keep the pace up and pull away as everyone else fought for position :) also really like DFR, if you get into the right grooves and get the lines right, its an awesome track and you can do really well, but go offline just a bit and you can lose a good half a second so its challenging. Cant remember much from Spa, remember having a few good races in the first couple of laps, then tried catching Wordup for the rest, Pagey was too fast for me. But all in all, I had a couple of great races :)

I missed Spa by 4Laps -_-
Well unlucky :D

Deeep Forrest was a superb race. Started first and only got eaten by 3 AWD´s before Turn 1
=> perfect Start from myside xD
Dave passed me => 4 AWD´s again passed me but not directly at the start :D
Turn 5 Dave drifted I couldn´t avoid him and he went totally off (sorry but I couldn´t do anything else then hitting you).
Smartheart was tough to overtake and Knelly could build up a small gap.
Spurgy pressed from behind and at T6/7 he passed me (2nd lap).
I passed Smartheart at T1 3rd Lap and tried to keep up with Spurgy, but I realized he was doing things I can´t.
I was fighting with Knelly for the next 3 laps and passed him.
Pagey caught us but spn out at T8/9 (before backstraight) so I was a bit safe.
Spurgy pitted at 8th and me at 9th lap => I lead the Race w00t w00t :D

After pit exit I fell back. Spurgy was leading Smartheart, Tyrrel, Pagey and Knelly flew by me at pit exit.
Knelly directly spun out at T4 and I was on the hunt :D
Pagey spun out again at T8/9 and me making a "Days of Thunder move" (luckily he tapped me just a bit but the rest got stuck ??).
[Lap 10/11]
After that I was just trying to get Tyrrel beacause wordup came with sasquatch boots.
Finally after having the best Duelling Laps a driver can think of I passed Tyrrel at Lap 14.
Tyrrel held wordup back (they probably fought nice too) => me could drive home the 2nd place.

Quite nice Race-Day and hope you enjoyed the READ :D

I messed up the concrete bit. I thought about the corner too much and it took over from my subconscious driving.

The corner after the concrete was a bitch in the setup i had, 2nd gear and torque distribution to 25/75 for Spa proved a bit much for Deep Forest and specifically that corner!

Yeah the canber caught me out a fair bit too ray, its a tricky little corner!

thing is i adjusted it a few points to compensate but it made it worse! 1.2 on the front and on the back with 75% torque going to the rear worked an absolute treat at Spa, countering any understeer. At Deep Forest any understeer meant if I put my foot down i was certain to spin!

hopefully the next round wont be as crazy in the 2nd race hey :)

Yeah i had really bad oversteer on that corner, and then under steer on the rest :(

Autumn ring should be pretty good, but Eiger is going to be ridiculously hard, especially for the Merc guys. Virtually every corner is like the one on deep forest, canber everywhere!

yeah look forward to autumn ring but as you say the camber on Eiger is going to be a bugger! going to have to be so reserved on that track its untrue! going to undertune the car as much as i can lol :nervous:

Yeah its going to be stressful, i will be glad when i cross the line in that one. A good finish next week and i should clinch the championship

Although I am definately not the smoothest or fastest of drivers, i still had some fun tonight. Spa was a good laugh with a good bit of clean side by side action with Rich through the double left hander, and I was happy with my pass on one of the Alfa's who was with us at the back. Finished 9th out of 12 in race 1. Not great but i'm happy :-)

Deep Forest however was a nightmare! Never liked it much, in reverse some if it is great though (except the tunnels). I had a good start, and got into 3rd fairly quickly - good ole 4wheel drive to thank there!! Unfortunately going into T5 I slid the smallest of amounts, and next thing I know, i'm broadside all the way to the tunnel, followed by what seemed like everybody sxrambling to avoid me. Subsequently, i went from 3rd to last :-( race over for me. Final position was 12 out of 13 i think, as the guy just here to try out (sorry your name escapes me - something to do with mice seems to ring a bell though haha) appeared to be having grip issues in what could have been lap 11?

Also loved the sight if all the Callys parked up just past where i lost my places on lap 1, might have to get a pic of that bit :-)

Autumn Ring and Eiger next week lads. Good feckin luck is all i can say!!!!!!!!

At least this week we had some good battles by the sound of it and Autumn ring is a great track for these cars, look forward to that one. Norwand is the kind of track where if you relax for a second you are facing the other way and will probably have a big crash rate.
Remember to get any complaints to me by 9 tonight or miss your chance.
Nice sig Dave

BOB ON 👍 Squeekimus :)

I have some complaints recieved so the stewards machine will swing into action :D
I have a backlog of enquiries from the FGTC and this so bear with me!

Rcae report - Spa:
Quali: Did a 2.20.757 putting me in 2nd for the start of the race, Pagey was too fast in his Alfa :(
Lap 1: Bad start as usual in the Merc, went from 2nd to 7th, but repassed Joe into Eau Rouge for 6th, then followed Tyrrel and Mike up until the last corner of sector two where I passed Tyrrel, then passed Mike shortly after on the straight before the last chicane, which then put me a little way behind Smartheart and a long way behind Wordup and Pagey :)
Lap 2: Smartheart made mistakes round the first corner and through Eau Rouge, which put me in his draft on the main straight so I could pass, then I just had to catch Wordup who was 5 seconds infront.
Laps 3-5: Was closing in quite quickly on Wordup and by the time the pistops came I was right behind him :D
Lap 6: Came out in 4th, somehow lost 3 seconds to Wordup in the pitstop, and I now had Smartheart inbetween us because he hadnt pitted. I spent most of the lap catching him, and overtook him on the back straight putting me behind Wordup again :) Pagey was 13 seconds infront at this point, and I decided to just go for 2nd, wasnt much else I could do :)
Lap 7: Nothing much happened, caught Wordup quit quickly again, putting me within 2 seconds by lap 8.
Lap 8: I continued to close the gap and caught Wordup by the backstraight and passed him for 2nd :D Then as we went round the fast left-hander, he clicked the grass, fishtailed and spun out! Giving me a healthy gap :D
Laps 9+10: With a bit gap between me and Pagey, and a big gap back to Wordup I just decided to cruise it home in 2nd :)

DFR:
Lap 1: Started 2nd to last just infront of Pagey, but obviously that changed at the start, so I was dead last going into the first corner. Passed Joe mid-way round the first corner, then Pagey spun Mike out just after, putting me up 3 places in total and right behind an army of Calibras! :D (squeek, rhyfel, tyrrel, wordup) Then, going under the tunnel was chaos, Wordup and Tyrrel came along side then parted infront of me, and infront of them all I could see was smoke! (Dave had spun from 3rd, Brett ran into him, and then Wordup ran into him, with Squeek and Tyrrel going around the outside, but obviously I had no idea what had happened at the time :D) So I decided to be brave and boot it through the smoke hoping that I didnt hit anyone... And it worked! :D Then went clean up the inside of Tyrrel the corner after, and shortly after that, Squeek swerved to avoid hitting Sakery, and spun out, putting me in 4th by the first half a lap.
Through the second half I had lots of good runs on Sakery, but I couldnt find a way past, until the main straight where I passed him going into the first corner of the second lap putting me in 3rd :D.
Lap 2(finally): I followed Smartheart for the first half of the lap looking for a way past, and managed to get a better run out of turn 6 throught the second tunnel, to pass him for 2nd, then I just had to hunt down Knelly :)
Lap 3: Managed to catch Knelly by the second half of the lap, and got alongside him down the backstaight going through the tunnel, where I almost hit a nasty bit of wall that sticks out, he didnt give me too much room but I stuck with it :D Unfortunately he had the inside line fo teh next corner so I slotted back behind. But using the draft I managed to pass him down into the first corner of the 4th lap for 1st! Wooo :D
Laps 4-8: Nothing interesting happened, just pulled out the gap to Sakery who was in 2nd until my pitstop :)
Lap 9: Came back out in 2nd (Sakery hadnt pitted) just infront of Smartheart who hadnt pitted either. Sakery then pitted at the end of lap 9 putting me back in the lead for lap 10 :D
Laps 10-15: Again, was just out infront trying to increase the gap. Lapped Squeekimus on lap 13, and he let me by round turn 6. Also lapped a spinning Dave at the last corner :D

Have fun reading! Oh and the Alfa is in the OCD! Lets see who gets it first :)

Whoa, that was fast Ray, congratulations. You get the last Alfa spot, ill get you in the OP as soon as I have done my stewards duties 👍

I put both feet badly wrong  I span him out a treat :( but i did wait for him so hopefully it won't be too bad

I know, hey you dont know that your even under investigation yet although you are in HUGE trouble for your behaviour in sundays FGT race.

I came across 1 car for the whole 50 laps, and that was just Immortal coming to lap me  And i made sure i stayed within the rules for lapping cars

Discraceful conduct! Shouldnt be allowed near a racetrack, I am going to throw the bookshelf at you sir!
Seriously though, we dont talk about penalties on here as you know so I am only joshing. Doing the stewards report now for FGTC, TC's later 👍

For future reference, I was baffled sometimes at the pace cars that were a few seconds behind me were carrying through eau rouge and wanted to clarify how much it could be cut by as i suspect those behind me must have taken flat out for me to lose ground on the straight doing 160mph+

would be good to clarify pre race the rules etc. my belief is anything more than 2 wheels over the white lines would be a penalty?

The replays are watched and if they cut the corners on purpose or too many times theyll probably get a penalty. Although, if you got it right you can go through there at 155mph, and thats in the Merc, but its really hard to do every lap with tyre wear etc.

Yes, as spurgey says you need to stay on the track at all times with a small margin given by the stewards for errors. I saw a lot of people going wide nearly every lap, it will be looked at and penalties given accordingly. Stay within the rules as much as you can and you will see the difference in the points table (to be updated today).

Ill get onto the two complaints asap and update the tables afterwards.
Some good racing last night but a couple of people need to calm down when in traffic, we will get there :D

One thing I think everyone should do, is not to overtake unless youve set up your move! :D What I do is I make sure I get a better run out of the corner before I make a move so I can get passed as cleanly as possible, if you go for a gap as soon as you see it, chances are it will be gone by the time you get to it and youll end up hitting someone :) Another thing is I think that drivers infront dont give the people behind enough room, theres no point squeezing someone once their alongside, will usually end badly if the person overtaking isnt ready to back off! :) Im guessing Brett looks at those sort of things when watching the replays, so you might even get a penalty for squeezing someone if it goes wrong.

^^^ For sure, some people bully their way past people. They put themselves in a position where they should back off but they rely on other drivers being careful. It is wrong and I do look out for it, at deep forest I was slowly catching others and setting up my moves which was why I was furious when I came around corners to find cars parked right on my lines (x2)
