What shall we do about tyre wear?

I am releasing no details until I have crunched the data.
It does help to be a crazy german though :D

Yes it does :D I think the extra weight could have been why he span though, my setup was hard enough to control at eiger anyway, the extra weight probably tipped it over the edge :(

Yeh, I havent tried it myself, still think he could go faster without it, but you know, hes crazy :D

No arguments here, looks like your F1 championship is on a sunday now!
What will you do?????

Oh dear, I cant take it anymore!!! Good bye cruel world!!!! *psst* "its only a game" "Huh?!?! Oh well, never mind then" :)

It does look pretty awesome, is the Sodi RX 7 any good Spurgy? I might have the chance to race one next month

I dont think youll fit :D And dont know, Ill find out for you, any kart will probably be fast for you the first time you get in one. Oh and it ends at 11 :(

Spurgey- I guess its tailored for your skinny butt  cheers for the info 👍

Pagey- maybe they are scared to disrupt your racing habits :)

Looked it up Pagey, looks like its just an indoor kart, but it probably wont be too bad :) And yes Brett, you could put it that way :D

Yep, going for a ginetta scholarship this saturday, but if I get the sponsorship, theres no harm in skipping to formula cars is there, and lets face it, theyre more fun :D

Yay for being right about the Ginettas, I just chose the slowest support series car I could remember watching. :dopey:

They look like fun, are you a karter Joe?
Good luck spurgey 👍

Not as much as I'd like to be. I've only been karting a few times, and my first time was when I was 16. Had a couple of sessions in 40mph karts separated by a couple of weeks on the national circuit (half the full circuit) of Buckmore Park. The next time I went after that, I started doing some races round the national circuit in 70mph karts (can't remember if they got rid of those for 80mph karts now or the other way round, as they used to have both but now only one of the two). I think I've done 3 or 4 of these events there now, and have won 1 race.

I last went over a year ago, but I got some vouchers for christmas and will go again when it warms up a bit.

I don't remember being overtaken at all in these events, other than if I span (did that once when trying to overtake for the lead on the last lap :ouch:). My best battle was probably where one guy would try and outbrake me into the same hairpin every lap, only for me to cut back under him and get the place back. He was following my lines exactly, so when I ran slightly wide at the end of the last lap and scraped my elbow along the wall, he crashed into the wall. :sly:

My pace in the last one I went to was exactly the same as the top 2 or 3 drivers (1 second off the then-current lap record for these karts on that layout), but I'd started at the back for that race due to winning the previous race, and ended up somewhere in the midfield by the end.

Wow Joe, you could have a bit of talent there.
I have only karted with friends or a when I used to drive stag do's and the coach driver went free. I used to try and beat all the passengers and then give them the prize back
My record is pretty good but they were just the standard Karts that the public use.
These were awesome fun-

Also, because I'm a light chap, I'm great off the line (standing starts). For the race I won, I started 3rd on the grid and passed the leaders 3 wide with 2 wheels on a mix of runoff and grass round the outside before the first corner. :sly:

Obviously organisers would add weight to my kart to make it even in proper events, but it's nice anyway. :)

If I wasn't going to uni I would buy a kart and try and get into it, a bit late at 19 years old but hey.
The track I usually go to I have set the fastest lap for the days racing, and not far off the actual lap record. The last time I went I started at the back and overtook the whole field, it was a public race but still.
I wish I has got into it earlier :(

My races were also against the public, though the 2 or 3 leaders I mentioned previously were more skilled than the others and also had their own suits and helmets etc. The karts we used were supplied by the circuit.

Wish I'd gotten into it sooner too :(

Hey I´m not crazy !!
I did a 1:04.7xx at Eiger.
And Brett was slowing me during the race at the first 4 hairpins and that with the RWD Car ;)
I couldn´t tune the understeer away => 1090kg brought me to a almost no understeer heaven. It also helps me with Tire-wear and I´m faster with the extra weight than without
=> why drop it ?? => me no crazy fool :D *muhaha*

Joe- Yeah but I bet you feel like a 15 stone juggernaught after a few cans of special brew :sly:

Pagey- Looks like a good track 👍

 did you see my post about the timing, whats the earliest you can join us on a wednesday?

Pagey, looks like an awesome track :D and Sakery, I thought my setups got rid of most of the understeer, or dont you use them? :)

Oh forgot about that ^_^

Well earliest would be 9:30 but it´s ok how it´s done.
Because it´s in the middle of the week => 1/2 an hour later would be too late for some (school job etc).
In addition sometimes I have to go real early to work => I can´t make both races
=> keep it the way it is

(but if !! everybody !! is ok with starting the qualy at 9:25-9:30 then we can change to that time)

€dit:
Spurgey you use wheel and I DS3. Them Set-ups are great but without the extra ballast I still have to many understeer for my liking.
And the Tire wear is greater without leading to a bigger time-drop during a stint.
I should switch to a Wheel maybe ;)

No sakery, for DTMs I use a controller, cant control the Merc on my steering wheel, spin out too easily :)
