Well, I thought it might be appropriate to dredge this thread up. There is a new ad that talks on the site.

It says "congratulations, you won"

Jordan, have you been able to do anything about this set of ads (there are several of them)? They really are very annoying, at least to me. Their internal volume, if you want to call it that, seems to be set quite high, meaning that they're pretty loud and obnoxious even when you have your speaker volume turned down. At least they aren't as bad as that Pacman one you've since gotten rid of. :yuck:

Funnily enough, while viewing that Ad, an Ad popped up on imageshack telling me that I was the lucky visitor and I'd won!

What is that in the bottom left hand side of the banner? I can't quite make out the first letter of that network name. Without more identifying information it is virtually impossible to track down.

Can anything be done about the popup that comes up when I come to the site with the fat chick and the less fat chick with their shirts up and something about Marias flat stomach rule? Not cool when the gf is around, or not for that matter. I try to keep my thoughts clean.
I know the ads you're talking about - they are horrific, and you have probably seen them on almost every site around the web. Whoever is behind this campaign is dropping a serious amount of money into the campaign. As you may or may not know, the bottom has fallen out of the ad market, and I suspect most webmasters are leaving them up for the same reason I am - we can't afford not to. I hate to say that, but with larger companies severely cutting their ad budgets, it cheapens our inventory and allows less tasteful advertisers to sneak their way in via advertising networks. Let's just hope the economy comes back soon...

Looks like LM Networks or liquidmedianetworks.com, if you prefer.

Moving this to it's own thread, bergauk...

Yes, that's them. I did some research and it looks like these ads are showing up on lots of websites that don't want them. I've contacted the ad network with the appropriate details so hopefully it can get resolved soon.

I realize there's little that you can do about it at this point, Jordan, but there's a new Woolite ad that I've seen now that has sound and looks practically like a TV ad playing in the bottom corner. This is, of course, in addition to all those other annoying "Congratulations - you've won," etc., ads that the genius advertisers keep putting out. Oh well, I guess they're just a reason to keep the volume muted except when watching videos. :ouch:

...or another brilliant reason to go Premium. No annoying ads and you're supporting the site as opposed to the site getting payment through annoying ads.
Althought it was Joey who bought me mine I would happily pay for it.
