How many of you all think it would be cool to change the fenders on the cars in gt? I think it would be cool to take whatever stock platform you want and build your own race car.. also engine swaps would be cool..

Engine swaps would be good, but it would have to be something very, very expensive, I wouldn't want to get online and everyone going round in V8 powered Civic's, that would kindof ruin the who feel of the game for me. As fo r bodywork mods, I think they are a must, but they need to be limited to aero parts only, not ricer kits, I'd be more than happy just to have the race mod's back.

u think they should do it like auto modelisllta (however u spell it) where u can only do engine swaps from the same company.

No, I think as long as the engine will fit it should go in, but I think that a mod like that should be far more expensive than buying a car with that engine, try to make it more of a lesser used mod so it wouldn't ruin the GT experience with V8 Micra's ect.

i think it should be expensive and only engines that fit would work and to really get the ricers when they try to put a swapped engine in the car they have to buy it first and then if they know what it can fit in install it. but not like AM where u can't modify swapped engines

I reckon that you should be able to change the appearance of you car with new spoilers and the racing mods but have more of a variety of racing mods.

I think engine swaps would be cool, but only what could fit in your car and you should only be able to swap when you reach a certain amount of milesand your cars starts running crappy so you'll need to swap it, race mods should deff make a come back but i think the only thing you should be able to change body wise is the spolier, I dont think we'll see body kits until GT5 on the PS3, Having body kits would be cool but more of a racing type body kit rather than a flashy one like NFS:U, which they could add some just so if you go online you could have a diffrent looking car but if you really want that just buy NFS:U, But with the racing mods deff have more variety and colors and with the excepting of choosing your own number for your car and so on and so forth...

I disagree on engine swapping... the reason is that too make it fair, it'd have to be really expensive, but as advanced as those gamesharks and whatnots are, there'll be 10 trillion dollar cheat codes soon after the game's release.

although Seito4Counter's idea isn't bad at all... If it's not allowed online, then I don't see why not allow it so long as it fits in your ride.

but how do you factor in and program the MASSIVE change in handling created by an entirely different engine in the bay?

I'm not to keen on engine swaps unless it's after say an enduro and your engine would normally be ******* you can change it for another one that's exactly the same but new.

The only change to the engines I'd like to see is the proper sounds for each car.

Well if there were engine swaps the first thing I'd want to do would be stick an F1 engine in a Mini like I saw in a magazine once. But then you'd have to remove the front 'facia' of the car.

Go like stink tho :D

Didn't even know you could swap engines in Auto Modelista.

It would have to cost too. Otherwise everyone would have ultimate cars and it wouldn't matter if the AI was better because we'd have these unbeatable cars. I don't know about anybody else but I like a bit of a challenge

I just still think that the cars we choose to go online will pretty much be like arcade mode with more cars of course, because maybe they'll let us use our cars from simulation mode but then all the cheaters would just mod there cars like some one said and just go online unless we have the option of putting hp restrictions when you create your own race then that wouldnt be too bad id say..

Engine swaps would be an excellent feature. They're done in real life, a lot, so why not in GT4? Limiting engine swaps would be like limiting the ability to tune your car, it's just another element to tune and change...

However, expanding on my point, I think it should be limited to the possibilities in real life. For example, putting an NSX engine in a Civic is just plain rediculous, keep it realistic and relevant, like swapping an Integra Type R B18C5 into a 6th gen Civic, or an RSX Type S K20A1 into a 7th gen Civic, etc... Even an RB26DETT into a 240SX (all of these mentioned have been done in real life).

I could do w/out it. GT usually gives more power then u will ever need from the turbo or NA kits.

Edit: However, if they include drag racing then it would be OK for me...only what fits in engine bay though.

I reckon there should be more maintanence involved instead of just Car Wash and Oil Change. there should also be the factor of replacing parts e.g.

Drive Shaft
Tyres ( I remember having to change tyres in GT2)

Anything That's likely to damage (engine wise) Should need replaceing after so many races or after an enduro.

Are you sure? Im pretty sure it was like all the other Gran Turismo's and the only place tires got changed were during an Enduro.

Yep. It came up with a message saying something like. After so much time you have to change these tyres. I can't remember exactly what it said. It might not even be tyres it may have been something else but that message came up for whatever part it is.

I did. But I never could be bothered changing whatever part it was. To me my cars were still the same.
