Watched that race. Must say the end did get intense. WRP and T3Z was battling as well utilizing the draft to make ground on Carr. One more trip down Mussolini* Straight and it would of been a three way battle for the win. Great job guys.

Time change looked great. About 3rd lap it got dark and end of 7th it was getting light again.

Great race everyone. That was fun.

I don't know how I got the poll in qualifying. Had an extremely lucky lap. Didn't miss one brake point. On my first qualifying lap, I also had a nice time, but I messed up at the last corner and out it in the sand with me.

At the start of the race, WRP crashed and left me with the lead.

I did have three major offs, one of them involved me sliding past the chicane at the start. I hope that doesn't result in a penalty. I didn't gain any time, I think. My tires were useless for the next corner.

Then, during the pits, I lost my ten second lead and it was down to two seconds. I'm in the process of firing my pit crew.

Got it back to three; couldn't gain anymore until lap eight, where I think I had a five second lead. Then I saw two cars line up behind me for the final push and I thought I'm dead. They dropped that five second lead so fast, I would love to know what lap times they were running. I got lucky on my last lap and put a solid lap together. One more lap and I would have been a sitting duck.

It was fun and interesting and frustrating at the same time. Sorry about going dark in the post race chat, I got a business call and had to ditch the game... just glad they didn't call during the race.

My car was complete garbage for laps 3-4. I'm not sure why, but I just couldn't make any corner entry and the car started to push like crazy. On lap 5 it was like a switch flipped on and I could drive again. Came in to pits after lap 5 and the rest of the race was fine.

I had a completely gold lap 1 of qualifying and then stuffed it in the wall between the chicanes. Luckily I was far enough away from the final chicane that I could build up a little speed and get a run for the last lap which was a pretty good lap, but nowhere near as clean as my first. Got nipped for pole by 0.2 over a 4.75 minute lap... that's pretty close.

Carracerptp and I had a good two lap cooperative / battle to pull out to a good lead before I duffed it on lap 3. From there it was a good chase, but I didn't catch T2z until lap 10 and by then it was just a little too late to work together and catch you. I think we cut 5 seconds off your lead in 1.5 laps, but it wasn't quite enough. At one point I drafted past T2Z and I was hoping to slingshot into your draft, but it was just a bit too far. If only the limiter were a little higher we could have caught you. :sly:

Nice race thank you , it was my 1st race with that grandpa car and at the end i learned a bit how drive that in a proper way.

Just one question, is the rigidity of the chassis allowed ? And i forgot to change oil too, but i was in abit of rush tonight.. whatever there are very fast racers here and i like it ^^!

I'm sure if the "grip" didn't leave your car, you would have won.
I spent the last lap driving though the rear view.... All you guys needed was a drop of draft.....

The ORCA_Champ lounge is now open for pre-race practice. Qualifying will start at 8pm EST with 12 drivers max.

It'll be interesting tonight what people observe. My problems were just at the transition from day to night (dusk). During full light and full dark the car was fine. Could have also just been me missing my marks in the odd light. I'm not going to blame not getting the win on the "bug" as I made mistakes all on my own too and you made less mistakes. Was really lucky just to get 2nd, but would have been great to see the outcome of one more lap in the race!

Maybe Friday night we'll have a rematch. 👍

I will be giving this race another go, so fridays sounds good.

The one in GT Auto is(chassis refresh I believe), the one in the tuning shop isn't(which is the one you are talking about I think...).

Correct, no add-on parts are allowed.

Good racing tonight. The day to night to day transition made this one of the coolest GT5 experiences I've ever had. I came through the Dunlop sign on lap 8 just as the sun was coming over the horizon....breathtaking. The night seems to last forever and when it got light again it really felt like a new day. Pretty cool, and didn't notice any lag but we only had 7.

Here are the results from tonight's late race.

Notice how before pic is clear no blur. After race is blurred and not so clear. That my friends is a good indicator of their tense race B had. ;) looked like he had two of them breathing up his tail and they had draft to work on the gap. Nice!!!

That was a crazy finish!!! Owens, Sagar and I were nose to tail for 4 or 5 laps when I decided to pit. I came out running alone a few seconds behind Brandon, and promptly spun out on one of the straights all by myself. I lost 12-14 seconds but I was watching the split times and Owens and Sagar must have had incidents because the split times dropped 14 seconds or so. Lap 7 or so, I catch up to Owens heading onto the main straight with Sagar only a couple of seconds behind. Owens and I leapfrog on the straights for a couple of laps to keep Sagar back and coming into the final chicane, I lose the back end and nearly spin, but see Owens getting a couple of wheels into the dirt and barely squeezed by. Crazy finish but great fun!!! .083!!

Yeah, good race. First five laps consisted of draft battles down the straights. I led for a while, then hung back for a while and then inherited the lead again. Nothing was going to be settled during those laps with the strong draft anyway. Night fell and Yuri pitted (I had no idea at the time, I was leading with Owens filling my rear view mirror), Owens overtook me on the straight so I tucked in behind him. Coming into the second chicane I braked far too early after I used the wrong braking marker, so to try and recover the time loss I tried to get on the power early but lost it on exit, over the sand and spun into the track. By the time I picked myself up, I was over 14 seconds behind owens. I cut down the lead to 10 seconds in the next few sectors and then owens pitted at the end of the lap so I enherited the lead. I stayed out as the sun came up and pitted at the end of lap 7 with a 32 seconds lead. I came out in 3rd over 2 seconds behind Owens and Yuri, but the lead ballooned to 4 seconds as they used the draft on the straights to their advantage. I closed the lead to 2.5 seconds in the porsche curves-first sector, but they restablished a 3.8 second lead after the long straights on lap 9. Time was running out so I had to push but that lead me to put the car into the sand at Indianapolis and the last corner to confirm a lonely lowely third place.

Congrats to Yuri and Owens on well executed race. It was good fun. 👍

Sounds like everyone's been having a blast racing here, congrats to Johnny for keeping it together for the win.
I tried the night race with a light shower, all I could come up with is Wow! Is it me or does the track seem clearer? (albeit harder to see the track itself)
You are all teasing me with all this race talk.

Guess I'll see for myself on the last race of the week. Hopefully I won't choke and have the chance to be involved some close finishes too.

That one just makes my brain hurt. I can deal with tossing an extra "u" in here and there (colour) but changing a "c" to an "s" is just wrong and would get me a scolding from my English teacher. What do you call those frozen cubes you put in your drink? Ise?

Oh, I forgot, you guys also drink everything warm. :yuck: Nevermind.

It seems I stand corrected. :guilty: Practice is the noun, Practise is the verb. So, "I practise my driving lines during free practice". Same applies to licence (noun) and license (verb). So you own a driving licence but Adobe licenses Photoshop to you.

:yuck:The shame. :dunce: Having my English corrected by a Merkin. If this gets out, I could be ruined. No wait...

Meanwhile, in other news, here are the qualifying and race results from the GMT race:

You can get them in order by having everyone go all the way back to the lounge and then re-enter the pits. I did that and my results were in order except for Blind who stayed in the pits. 👍

Almost forgot...sorry about that bump in the early laps Sagar...I completely missed the braking point coming into the last chicane. Just glad we were able to get back up to Owens so it didn't cost you any track position. :nervous:

Just a reminder to everyone, if you're interested in participating in the WRS vs. ORCA special event please register HERE so we can make sure we have accurate numbers to use when dividing up the rooms. Should be a really fun event, this car is a real blast at Fuji. 👍

I unfortunately didn't get a chance to practice before last nights race so any complaints against me for going outside the white lines, bumping, etc, I 100% agree with as they did occur :dunce: I even put the driving line on to help but I still missed a couple braking points and I know I dived-bombed Torzilla near the end. Even though I struggled it was very cool to have the day-night-day transition. With only 7 racers it was pretty lag free, wouldn't mind getting a few more though for Tuesday nights.

Actually it did work... It just takes up to 30 mins for the image to update. As long as you see the confirmation screen from google your good!

I've got to fix something in the sheet because it's showing duplicates and it's supposed to handle those automatically.

Took about 30 seconds but I did eventually get a confirmation.
Googledocs is on a go-slow at the moment.

By "working" I meant I didn't get the usual "thank you for your submission" message. Hopefully it didn't come through 20 times because I may have hit submit that often...lol..:sly:

That explains the duplicates... Had people clicking submit three time and it tagged them all with the same exact time stamp which foiled my process... Fixed manually.

Google docs has been quite slow for a couple days.

Since there are no series races today-tomorrow its a good time to get a first time trial session in at Fuji. Try it stock and then try it with the tune from EDK that I posted. Impressive speed difference.

Same thing here Yuri.

Same thing here Yuri.

No problem. It won't break anything permanently. Hopefully google speeds up soon. If you have issues just let me know in special event thread. Worst case scenario I can make manual edits... As long as you log a post in the thread we have a record.

Now that I know, I promise not to hit the button a dozen times anymore...

I didn't realize that tune was posted for the special event and had come up with my own, then when I saw it, they were so close it wasn't funny...lol. When doing offline time trials you can boost up the front and lower the rear dramatically on most cars which really boosts the turn in without affecting rear grip until you get to really extreme settings. The posted tune should work fine for most people and it's a dramatically different feel to the car offline.

That tune more than likely will not work online though, it'll turn the front end into glue and the back end into ice. Tuning online is completely different, although the same principles apply, if you raise the front you get more grip, lower the rear, less grip there, but online the effect of even small changes is dramatically larger than offline.

Note that we are not allowing tuning for the special event online races so they will be just like a normal ORCA race. We have to allow tuning for the offline time trial because there is no way to regulate it or detect if someone customized the setup from a replay.

You are 100% correct about the offline v online setup not being identical. However, I've found from running WRS for many weeks offline and then running the same race online that most setups do translate pretty well *except* for the ride height which is *completely* different. The min/max ride height "trick" doesn't work online -- it really shouldn't work offline either -- some consider that a "bug", but there are whole threads about that topic so we'll leave it alone. :sly:

EDIT: Dan beat me to it.
