All standards will become premium...?

I stopped reading after this:
In my post I said that the DLC that PD released thus far have been cars that they weren't able to put in the game when it was released.
That was true for two cars. Two. The XJR-9 and the Scirocco (and I haven't even seen the source for when Kaz said that about the XJR-9, so I'm going off of secondhand knowledge).

Not the entire contents of both car packs. Not all of the DLC released to this date. Those two cars. You really need to research this stuff before you comment on it, because it is simply making you look foolish when you lead off with something that is blatantly untrue. Nevermind how you then proceeded to ramble on about stuff that is either irrelevant or shows what has to be intentional ignorance on your part.

You are right.

And Turn10 wasnt able to put in the pagani huayra in the game for example.

So what is your point again?

going back to the original topic. I didn't really think about this until now but now that i remember, Kaz did confirm "at least some" of the standards would be upgraded to premium. XJR-9 is the same car at a dollar for the premium. I could be wrong but I thought he was against charging us for that kind of thing? Only new cars were gonna be dlc? I'm probably wrong though.

I don't think Kaz ever said anything like that as far as I'm aware, in fact I don't think he's said anything about DLC content except for confirming that they will release it.

That would be a waste of time. They could easy scrap some of the variations and focus on coverting the cars which seem absolutely relevant.

Yeah, the '66 1200 Beetle weighs in at 1160 kg! so it's pretty far removed from the 1100.

But the Jaguar.
Why make a premium upgrade DLC?

Are we ever getting premium upgrades for standards?
Maybe the Jag was created cause people looked for this one in a massive number :/

I foresee around 20 standard-premium conversions at least. So far they have converted only one, without counting the other "new" ones.

But I feel that some of these new cars are just altered versions of the cars in-game like the Golf and Aventador, or that PD already had these cars ready so they could sell them in the future.

What gets me is that there are a ridiculous number of cars in the standard category that are basically identical in appearance to one of the premium cars. Those are easy kills for conversion, but for some reason they don't do it. I don't understand why this is.

No matter how good they look they still have to be re-done completely. Same amount of work goes into it. They don't just bump up the texture resolution.

I think there's a disconnect here.... They've already done the work, they just have to apply the trim level and year to it.

What's the difference, visually, between the premium Efini RX-7 Type R (FD) '91 and the standard Mazda RX-7 Type RS (FD, J) '96, the Mazda RX-7 Type RZ (FD, J) '96, the Mazda Efini RX-7 Type RZ (FD) '92, the Mazda RX-7 Type R-S (FD, J) '95, The Mazda Efini RX-7 Type R-S (FD) '95, and okay I'm done... but I count another 10 identical, in appearance, RX-7s that can be made to premium with little more than tweaking the badges and the wheels.

Those are easy kills for anybody who can use whatever software they're using to model these things, and that's just the FD RX-7 (not to include the visually refreshed model later in the car's lifecycle). If we included all the others the game would probably have more premium modeled cars than not.

Again, I have no idea why they don't do this. I would hope that there's a good reason.

Ive been wondering this since day one of GT5. There is even more skylines (r32-34) than rx7s that could be converted. Now, not saying we need more premium skylines, just saying why not....since most are just different badges on the rear. Many of the performance specs are nearly identical to the vspec II nur, especially any RB26dett or 'neo' RB25DET hp specs since they were all limited to 276hp (gentlemen's agreement). Same goes for any other standard duplicates. Maybe PD hasnt done this as they dont want to look as if they are being biased for JDM cars...though with 10 r35s in my garage that doesnt show lol:dunce:

Each body part is modeled individually on premiums, gt4s cars the entire shell over the wheels and tires was one modeled unit. There is a huge gap between polygons on standards and premiums. Yeah they probably have the measurements of the car and references to build off of already but that's it.

Okay again.... ALL of those cars mentioned in the post you quoted were manufactured using the same body parts on the same assembly line. If you put any one of those cars next to the other and installed the same wheels on them and pulled the special badging you couldn't tell the difference between one and the next.

It's a copy and paste job with minor tweaking to the exterior badging and maybe a few interior touches.

Sorry I misunderstood I thought we were talking about standards converted to premiums.

Yeah, what I mean is that there's a ton of cars that look like they should be super easy to convert to premium.... not by way of doing ground up work, but through using work that's already been completed.

I think the disconnect is that when you say convert you mean take the old graphics and work to improve that, and when I say convert I mean erase the old graphics completely and apply new graphic work that has already been done and apply it to a bunch of currently standard cars.

I think that made sense.

Not sure if this is relevant or not just mentioning anyway.
The Premiums are so awesome I doubt PD will improve them for GT6 - they don't need to.
Perhaps PD have completed more cars than we know of? It would seem a little silly to give us all their new cars in DLC or updates, they need breathing space for the eventual GT6 too.
Just sayin'.

Exactly ^^. PD doesn't need to improve the premium models for GT6. Just like Turn 10 doesn't have to improve the 24 drivable autovista models for FM5. It's similar to that.

:banghead:

Allow me to rephrase: are we only getting premium upgrades as DLC, i.e. no premium upgrades unless you pay up?
Wait. One DLC car tells you this? ?

I'm guessing they are modeling new DTM and GT3 cars and saving them for gt6, since no premium cars of either series exist in gt5. Also I'd guess that they wont add cars from manufacturers that aren't in the NCD. Just a guess though, but I think those are the type of cars they are saving for gt6.

Those duplicates aren't going to be coming back, I have to imagine.

......and that honestly wouldn't upset me. I don't need 15 different versions of the same exact car clogging up my garage. I understand that in reality there were subtle differences between all these models, but most of those centered around suspension and interior tweaks, neither of which are terribly important in this game.

Wait. One DLC car tells you this? ?

Well, yes. If they've charged for this one it pretty much says they've going to charge for any others.
