Alternatives to Sharkport?

I was looking at buying a Sharkport, but I saw that it won't work with my PS2 (SCPH390001), so is there any alternatives that will work with it and fo the same thing?

An Action Replay Max or a max drive are your only other options.

Could saves transferred with that be used with the mk's GT3 garage editor thing?

Not directly, but there is a progam to convert the gamesave from max format to sharkport format and back again.

Code Breaker also works (that's what I use). But again, you need to use PS2 Save Builder to convert the files.
