Talentless

I was doing the race for this car, trying not to overkill too much, and noticed the engine seemed to go bad rather quickly. Does anyone else think they have/had the same problem?

Well, it's only a 2 litre six. This car's all about maintaining momentum - mistakes can be very costly in this little car.

I personally find the Altezza great fun - it's very rewarding to drive quickly, because you have to work at it.

i believe it's a 2 litre inline 4... and it isn't exactly that good in the game... which is a bit sad, because it's a great car in real life...

The Altezza seems to be a great car in real life. I am not sure what engine it has in it, but I would think maybe the V-6. Anywho, I like the Altezza Race Car very much so :P

It's a four-cylinder, I'm 95% sure.

Frankly, I think the engine is extremely weak also - slow and talentless, even when heavily modded and weight-reduced...I would have one by now based purely on its hot looks but it's not a good engine.

Mmm - dunno about the GT3 version. The IS200 we have hear runs a 2 litre in-line six, but I know there is a Japanese version running a 2 litre four (Lexus ran a 2 litre four here in the Targa Tasmania, which was technically naughty).

To clarify, the IS200 has a 2.0L I6, while the Altezza RS200(IS300 in ye ole states)has a 2L I4...it's wierd really...

ehh...shoot yea it does...I botched up...I mean the IS200 is in the game, so I just thought that the Altezza was the IS300(but IS200= 2.0L, IS300= 3.0L)...damnit, why couldn't they just put Lexus in GT3 as a company, and had the IS200 and IS300, that would stop any confusion...

Yes - I think Lexus was included as a brand in GT3 (was it in GT2?) for the benefit of the overseas markets, so people didn't get confused (well, guess that didn't work!) over exactly what the car was.

Yeah, although most uneducated (especially American and European) car-buyers don't understand that Lexus exists ONLY outside of Japan.

BTW it was in GT2.

I agree - I think very few people realise that - an example, the LS430 is badged as the Toyota Celsior in Japan.

Thanks - I thought it was in GT2 (bit hard to check when you're at work!)

Yeah at least nowadays though Toyota as gone to greater lengths to differentiate the Lexi from the Toyotas.

I remember in the early 1990s, Toyota was shipping Soarers to Europe then literally re-badging them as Lexus SC300's at the docks and selling them for a higher price!

My brother has got a 1991 ES250 and "Toyota" is all over everything - seat belts, windows, sunroof, radio...almost makes it seem fake. When I opened the hood to see if it was an I-6 or a V-6, the engine block was labeled as "TOYOTA 24V V6."

There are many cars that have different names depending upon the country.......

Even Manufacturers names differenciate from country to country :earth: like :uk: :vauxhall: are known as :embarrassed:pel: in the rest of Europe, now what's thepoint in that?

Also I have to say I thought the Altezza was a great little car......ok so it's know Power Plant but the chassis make beautiful driving....I'd buy one in real life anyday.....:gcar:

And there great tuning cars to:

Well, that's a bit different, because both Vauxhall and Opel were quite prominent companies in their own right before being acquired by GM, and from a local market perspective you wouldn't walk away from that sort of market presence.

Lexus was a manufactured nameplate by Toyota to push its prestige products overseas.

I don't have an issue with it, it's just how it is - does get a bit confusing when the marketing gets international exposure though...

Ok. So in real life I own a US version IS 300, it has a 3.0L inline 6. The European version, IS 200 has a inline 4. Those have a supercharger option available to them to increase HP to 200. The Japanese version, the Altezza, is also a inline 6.

In GT3 there are two versions, the European IS 200 and the Altezza. There specs are similar to those of their real life counterparts.

As far as tuning a real IS it is rather expensive! Turbo chargers I have seen range in price from $6,000+ $30,000. Go to www.toyomoto.com to see the $30,000 turbo, it's a beast of a turbo, 600+ WHP!!!! I have been looking at aftermarket parts for my IS 300 but there is not alot out there for it. Alot of the parts are for European and Japanese versions and won't fit the American versions due to all the safety issues cars have to comply with in coming into the American market.

theres kits to drop a 2JZ into an Altezza, so it's gotta have a long engine bay, i'd be more confident in saying its got an I6

heres a quote from http://www.lexus.com/showroom/model/is_eshift_performance.html

215-hp Engine
ITS HEART HAS 24 VALVES, TWIN CAMS AND 215 HORSES. The IS 300 E-Shift has no mercy for meeker sport sedans. The ferocious yet utterly beautiful roar coming from under the hood lets you know the engine's an awesome in-line 6.

I put the 2JZ (Supra Inline 6) in my Lexus and made it an IS300 with MK's. Just an IS300 with a turbo!

Right now I am driving a Tommy Kaira ZZ-S that has a 460hp Z06 LS-1 OHV 5.7l V8!!!!

That car sounds so cool!

I heard that Lexus is going to change the IS engine in the near future(somewhere in the next couple of years) to the V6 that is in some of the other current Lexi models. It is supposed to boost horsepower as well, but I am not sure by how much.

altezza/lexus are great cars and run really well.

the is200 here runs a 2ltr 6 and the is300 runs a 3ltr 6...

as for the game, well thats all based on what japan gets.
i think the rs200 has a 2 ltr 6 tho
the race car prolly has the same, cept (guessing) tuned,.

I think the IS300 is getting the 3.3L V6 that is brand new for Toyota. Apparently is has 230hp in the new RX330.

I like Inline 6's more than V6's.

Database

I am at work at the moment so can not look in the game but the link above suggests the Lexus IS has an inline 6 cyl 2 litre engine and the Altezza RS200 has an inline 4 cyl 2 litre engine
