A few shots I took while exploring the ghost town of Manheim earlier this month.
This small town is on the verge of being completely demolished because of the increasing size of the nearby open pit mining facilities.
While Wikipedia says 42 residents still lived in Manheim as of 2021, it looked like only a handful of residents still haven`t moved out of town. Some of the houses that are left abandoned are still accessible.


The house with the green shutters still has a resident, as the trash cans indicate.

This sounds a lot like the setting for Centralia, Pennsylvania. Except there's no sizable town nearby.

What a coincidence! I was at that very event as a photographer for the two BMW M4 GT4s:

Too bad the new grandstand was not finished back then and unaccessible to us photographers.

You said that you were there to shoot for both the M4 GT4's - were you hired by both teams or how did everything work out for you? I just had a quick look inside the official media guide and saw that the M4's were run by seperate teams. Unfortunately, I completely forgot about the fact I need to provide Creventic with my photos... so I finally decided to do that today. I just hope it won't affect my chances of acquiring media accreditation for this year's race.

Creventic is one of the most laid back and awesome organisations I have come across. You won't find an easier to acquire accreditation anytime soon.

I was hired by the owner of JJ Motorsport, who I met during the 24 hours of Zolder. I have been taking photos for them ever since. JJ Motorsport ran both cars that weekend. Although they were two seperate entries, JJ Motorsport did all the setup and mechanical work under one roof.

I thoroughly enjoyed the entire weekend, the weather was perfect and the atmosphere was relaxed. Only thing I did not like at all was that there nearly was no public attendance, the stands were all empty. Other than that, I loved every part of the weekend.

I already had that thought when I recieved their email with all the accreditation details. Simply because I did not have any press card or something else, if you know what I mean. Two other organisations where you can acquire accreditation fairly easy: GT Sport Organizacion (International GT Open) and NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. Sadly I could not attend the GT Open race at Spa last June because of COVID, but everything worked out for the NWES event held at Circuit Zolder.

Interesting! You're basically living the dream I want to live, I hope I get to be in that position some time as well.

Unfortunately I could only be there on Sunday, and I noticed the lack of spectators as well. A bit of a weird sight.

I'm far from it, I'm doing this in addition to my main job. I wish to be able to strike more assignments, but the photography market is so oversaturated, and once you have a name, it's very hard for new people to break through. That is also still true in my case.

Okay, maybe I might have overstated that a bit. But at least you get to strike some assignments, and that's what I'm triying to achieve as well. Out of all the events I attended with media accreditation last year, I basically did it for myself in one way or another... simply because I enjoy it that much. Sure, I also hope to gain some form of recognition/reputation so I can make a bit of a name for myself... but yeah. As you already said, the market is very oversaturated.

Been a long time since I went out just to shoot with my camera.


I got a wildlife lens recently. Who knew that my favorite species of small birds are also the most shy and elusive.

Also while I wait for my film rolls to be developed, I'm experimenting with film looks, that is to say, do some minor tweaks and introduce digital noise 😂

This was from a shoot out in the country photographing barns, water towers, shacks, etc. with my Nikon F and some expired Kodak Gold 100. When the light faded, I switched to my Nikon D7200 and shot some stuff from the car. Not the best work but I had fun that day.

First motorsport weekend of 2023 for me, with the opening rounds of the 5 Nations Rallycross Championship. First day was overcast and fairly pleasant, second day got very wet! Not so good for the camera, but I always like shooting cars in the rain.
