Once again, I thank you all for continuing such a discussion. I'm glad to have a good thread like this one. Thanks again.

I think I mentioned this before, but I'd love to see maybe some Trans-Am racers. When I seen Valvoline Runoffs coverage of GT-1, I was in love. Usually, I'm not the pro-American kind of car lover. The Trans-Am machines and the GT-1 competitors are lovely. I would have liked more of a production car look (at least some functional headlights and perhaps functional doors), but if you don't like American cars, you MIGHT like Trans-Am.

When done right, the body style for a Trans-Am or GT-1 race car can almost sort of mimic the DTM. But these machines are made for downforce and that sweet [American] V8 sound. If you have the Speed Channel and if there's a Valvoline Runoffs marathon coming up, look for GT-1. Gets no better than this.

How do you all feel about the Chevrolet SSR in the game?

Anyone know if the Vectors from GT2 are back? They're not on THe356's list.... :(

There not in 359's list because no body has seen it yet.

So the answer is no.

BTW Welcome to GTPlanet. :)

I like that truck, the more variety the better since there is going to be a Lightning I think.

I suppose it will be too much to ask for the supercharger whine on the lightning though. :D
Yeah, and that's another reason why I want the 03 Cobra in there. Imagine a Kenne Belle twin screw mod.

Live4speed....your musclecar knowledge is very good....I will post my favorites some other time if anyone would be interested...

KingJameII....Camaro did build the last bigblock Camaro for their last year....the ZL1 silly...alot of $, though...

Super Cirrus...you know your cars as well...cool..

 Yeah, you can stay.

I'm really disappointed at the lack of chrysler corp muscle. Sure 1 challenger and 1 cuda is better than none, but please! I see a TON of chevy muscle cars, ie old vettes and chevelles, GTO, Buick Special. But how about a 72-73 challenger Kit Car for SCCA racing. or even the old Dart? Or how about Falcons, or Torinos for FORD fans? I'd love to see PD do an American edition of GT and just release it HERE so the rest of the world had to buy US versions of playstation.
Well.. That's my rant for the day.

I'm not sure why I'm still a 'New Member', but thanks =)

Your still a new member because you only have 18 posts, plus youve only been here for two and a half months.

First of all, Scott, thanks for those comments. Anytime you can bring up a discussion that will be looked back and have at least positive commentary for, you have to feel pretty good to see a good argument continue on. I honor your kindness because we're here to have fun, not go at each other's throats like in my experience in AOL Chats.

Now that I'm done with Finals, I have more time to play my games (and enroll for classes next Spring, of course). I'm actually going to try to put more attention on racing cars from "South City" in GT2. Of course, these are all the American rides ranging from compacts to muscle cars to race cars. You know, if you're just starting out in GT2, make enough money in races, and you want a nice American machine, I can look around for you in GT2. You can opt for a Dodge Challenger at 11,500 Cr. It has 289hp but weighs in at 3650 lbs. At 21,081 Cr, you can get a Dodge Charger at 384hp and 3785 lbs. Go to Ford and get a Mercury Cougar from 1967 at 319hp and 3522 lbs (sounds about good, right?). A 'Cuda can be yours in GT2 at 289hp and 3591 lbs at the Plymouth lot.

These are the affordable muscle cars (on the basis of 25,000 Cr or less). The one I like most for horsepower and weight has to be the 42,400 Cr GT350. It comes with a racing mod, and it's 305hp at 2799 lbs- about the lightest muscle car. Plus, you know what you're getting when it comes from one of my fellow Texans, Caroll Shelby. So if you like muscle cars and GT, play around with GT2. It'll scratch that itch for you.

The best muscle car in GT2 is probably the GT350 Shelby, like JohnMB01 said. In any case, it runs the 1000 faster than the others, and I had them all :). Also very nice are the '67 and '69 Corvettes. The Cobra 427 '67 is great and also faster than the Special '65 Coupe. Same with the stock GT40. (an awesome vehicle! 👍 ).

GT2 is the game that got me into cars.

My friends were just starting to get into cars, but the all liked hondas. So I was different and went for the American cars. The muscle cars.

I bought GT2 over GT3 just for the fact that it had all those cool muscle cars in it.

My favorite car was the '71 Plum Crazy Purple Charger.

GT2 got me into muscle cars and cars in general.

Let's here it for Gran Turismo.

Yeah, the GT series really got me into cars. Now I now about a variety than just a certain type of car. 👍

Well I think my name speaks as my answer, but I'd love to see American cars of all era's. A good mix of 50's to the present time. I just hope PD doesn't mess it up by putting in a Dodge Challenger, but not a Charger; or a Mustang, but not a Torino. If they are going to put in American muscle cars, they need put in as many as they can.

I see 69 Dodge Charger flexing his muscle on muscle cars...

I'm playing GT2 right now just looking through cars. And I learned that Plum Crazy is a pretty cool color for a 1971 Charger. I'm more of a red car guy, if not a deep blue. When I made my little list, I was talking about more affordable machinery in GT2. Here's the funny thing about GT2. If you remember the Plymouth Lineup, you may have seen the 1971 "Muscle Car." But when you get more info about it, you learn it's the Road Runner. So perhaps you couldn't get "Road Runner" on there as if Warner Bros. didn't want PD to make money off of calling it the Road Runner.

Here's a stat for you. The Barracuda from Plymouth has the least horsepower (289), while the other three have 425hp. The most expensive is the Superbird while the cheapest is the GTX. The heaviest is the Superbird at 3,840 lbs while the lightest is the GTX (3533 lbs.). If you have money to burn and you want horsepower, your secret is safe with Plymouth. I like Chevrolet, but I've been more of a DaimlerChrysler person (Dodge, Plymouth (now defunct, I believe), Chrysler, etc.). Of course, if you don't like classic cars or muscle cars in America, you have a good list of alternatives. You have the latest ZO6, the latest Mustang, the Vipers, perhaps Vector, and all that. Don't like big horses? Neons and Avengers are still good buys as are the Stratuses. The SRT-4 Neon is going to be a hit even with the tuner culture, and it's a car I wouldn't mind racing. I'm going to save up for the Saleen S7 and maybe an S7R (if we'll get any).

While the main focus of most of this thread is on muscle cars, I'm not neglecting the other American cars. So that's why I called it "American Cars" and not "Muscle Cars." If it's made in America and can perform, it's American. So, let's keep it going now, eh?

Well Plymouth had to get permission from WB to use the horn on the Road Runner because they wanted it to sound just like the cartoon character. I don't know that it would have anything to do with the name of the car though; I'm pretty sure that back then there was no license agreement on the name of the car. It may have just been a goof on PD's part.

Yes, but it's not like WB could tell Plymouth that they couldn't name the car that because they had a little cartoon character with the same name. I mean they really didn't care; the only thing they did care about was the horn. I don't know, it's probably not worth figuring out, as long as everyone knows what the car is supposed to be.

I'm just glad the SRT-4 is in there cause that is what I have in real life. Also can't wait to drive all of the american muscle. I just hope they improved the look of burnouts cause they looked like crap in GT3.

Yeah, they need to make the smoke just sit there for a while instead of it just disappearing in a very short while.

So the '71 Charger in GT4 will be the Super Bee with the Hemi. Instead of the regular '71 Charger like in GT2.

Who thinks there will be another Hemi in the game?
We do have the drag strip this time around.
