My G25 "beta cable" has a small issue ive discovered.

At times the brake wont fully release, on GT5P the onscreen indicator for brake will stick at about 5%, a tap on the brake sorts this but thats no good for racing. It wont always stick but at random.

I can confirm after testing the pedals with my G25 wheel while doing trials for an upcoming comparison review this isnt happening. I originally considered this sticking brake issue to be part of my aging G25 pedals which is clear now it isnt.

Apart from this the G25 adapter cable seems fine so hopefully its easily recified or is an isolated problem with my "beta cable"

* Hope its of use

Thanks to both the above.
Im seriously in need of a multiplatform wheel, i have a full home made cockpit for my PS3 and PC which houses my G25, whilst my Xbox has to remain as a stand alone console, while the rubbish MS wheel sits on a make shift table stand.
To get them all in one cockpit with one great wheel will be fantastic.
Im thinking im likely going to finally put myself down for one over the weekend! :)

I looked all over the place but i can't figure out something.

My home made cockpit is now fitted with a G25 thats hooked up too the PS3. It's ready and waiting for GT5. If the release of GT5 will be 2010, then i might go and buy Forza Motorsport 3 and a xbox360(used).

Now the problem is the g25 wont work on the xbox(why?)
So if i buy the new Fanatec GT3rs wheel, and hook up my g25 pedals, I can play Forza without spending to much for a whole new wheel with pedals. Will this work?

No you need to use one of the specific 360 wheels for that. Or the multi platform Turbo S wheel. G25 and GT 3 RS will never ever be supported on the 360.

Okay, no change for me then. Turbo S pure is too expensive, and probably not even available. Sticking with the Ps3(and the waiting)!

If Forza turns out to be really good, i sell my g25 and buy a high end wheel, compatible for both the xbox and PS3.I think a lot of people here will, because you get hungry from all the waiting.

The Turbo S wheel looks to much xbox360 for me, with the buttons and all, don't like that when using it with the ps3

It´s pretty much identical to the previous 911 turbo wheel which is a PS 3/PC wheel. the buttons are back lit so they will change to the PS 3 symbols if that is important for you :)

okay thanks, i understand now.

The investment for g25/ps3 owners who wanne play forza 3 would be:
- Xbox 360 + the game
- Fanatec Turbo S pure (hook up your g25 pedals)
- Fanatec shifter (can't use g25 shifter)

That would be around 450 euros in my country.

Bring me GT5!

As mentioned previously, i will be doing things well the way i like to do things and thats in detail.
For a full comprehensive report on GT3RS not just text written comments and with a console perspective particulary for you GT5 fans.

Including the inverting Clubsport pedals
GT3RS Vs G25
Comparisons to evaluate just how good the Turbo S will be compared to the X360 wheel.
Each segment will look very closely at each product and photos galore will be uploaded.

I have a question about the wheel's functionality.

Does the wheel have a joystick or buttons that allow you to use the Right Thumbstick/Analog to look around when driving?

If so, where is that button/joystick located? Will that functionality be carried over to the Xbox 360 version?

Thanks.

Hey Fanatec guy,
or anyone that can anwser this

So I hear in Batch 2 of RS and ClubSport delivery, there are few changes.. I have the 1st batch, and only issue with my wheel were the pedals needed some LUBE and I am still waiting for better wheel driver. So what exactly will change in batch 2 of the wheel and pedals? Can someone give me complete list?

Also lets say the Batch 2 wheels are changed in many ways to make them better, can I return my wheel and exchange for batch 2? Or I should just stick with my and wait for better drivers if nothing major has changed.

The changes are made in production to make sure that all wheel work perfect. Except for the lube on the brake not all wheels had issues but an unstable quality.

So if you fixed the lube and have otherwise no issue it will be as good as a series 2 wheel.

Can someone please answer these questions?

I'm about to pull the trigger on the clubsport wheel+accessories but want to know before I do.

There is no right analog stick. There is a d-pad, so that could be an option. Also the paddles can be used for looking left and right accordingly (This was done in Forza 2 when using automatic).

In the end, it all depends on the game how you look around.

Ref GT5P & PS3
You can program the function to one of the wheels buttons.
I have a left and right button on the wheel set for looking L-R
The wheels buttons are not analouge though.

If you want to use analouge then set the joypad also to "Controller 1" i do this all the time for menus etc anyways.
PS3 allows a wireless controller and a USB wheel to share "Controller 1. I cannot gurantee this will work with the Turbo S as its not wired however you could then i suppose use a USB for a wired controller (yes im too clever at times).

You could have the joypad mapped to use the analouge for more precise looking L/R. I agree its better this way.
Then you could do a d.i.y in having a controller positioned that it could easily be reachable. I showed here ages ago how i did this with "blu tac" on the back of my PS3 pad stuck to my G25 wheel, worked a charm. Fanatec wheel is a bit big to do this...

Personally ive planned to take apart a PS3 controller to consider having the analouge control set to look L/R and have this installed into my dash in my own d.i.y cockpit project.

Ref X360
X360 wheel does not support analouge either and im not aware that X360 will allow 2 controllers to share a connection.
Possibly someone here could try with a wired controller and a wireless wheel but i think they have to sync into the account one at a time?
Possible limatation of the X360

FM3 will probably only support free look and analouge viewing on joypad im afraid. You will however of course be able to program the buttons on the wheel to be set to look L/R but only in the auto look mode the game supports on standard buttons.

Thanks, yeah I have no issues so far. The latest drives work well on iRacing and other games.. Lube fixed the small problem with brakes, now it works smoother..

Thanks for Reply.

By the way Fanatec, you think you guys might create a dongle USB extension for for the RS wheel to work 100% with PS3? Something like connectiong RS wheel to the Dongle adapter, and dongle to PS3. Dongle might translate everything what is the wheel doing straight to PS3 so that PS3 can work without any date change?
I would pay 50 buks for that lil gizmo ; )
If not I might get just the wheel itself (turbo S probably) when GT5 comes out. ( Only if RS wont work with that game.)

I dont see any possibility to add the dongle to the RS wheel as it would require complete new electronics. But there is a good chance that GT5 will be compatible with the GT3RS.

How good is good? I'm about to buy either turbo s or rs (clubsport edition) wheel in few weeks time. I like rs, because its cheaper and it looks so much nicer, especially alcantara leather. Only question mark is the compatibilty with GT5.

This is Off topic but not quite.

Is there any new on the Race Seat Kit for the RennSport Wheel Stand?

Thomas

You still have an unanswered question on your own blog by a guy named ReDi. When will the 64-bit firmware update for the CSP be available?

Please answer the question.

Regards

PS. Love your wheel and pedals

Sounds good. It's bit annoying to change date on PS3 for 2008, but I wont mind. As long it works! It's good enough.

I wonder if PD will have Porsche wheel in their menu system.
I know new Forza game will support the wheel, I wonder if PD will approve for Fanatec.

No news on that. We first need to finish the wheels before we start new projects.

We need a driver of the manufacturer of the IC and it looks like this will not be available soon so anyone who wants to upgrade the CSP can only do it on a 32bit system.

If you want to be sure then go for the PWTS. There is still a high risk that the GT3RS will not work with GT5

Its why i bought both, my GT3RS can be used for PC stuff or other PS3 racing games that it will work with.
Both great wheels and tbh if FM3 is as good as they make it out to be the Turbo S will get enough wear/usage from that game alone.

If GT5 doesnt work with GT3RS then my Turbo S will be bound only to GT5 & FM3.
This way I know im covered and wont have to put all the wear/tear on a single wheel for other games or PC sims.

Thomas, thanks for your answer.

I suppose I can do the firmwareupgrade on a 32bit system and still use the pedals on my 64bit system, can't I ?

Regards

Wanna invert, your CSP see how...

Good things are worth waiting for, ive did this for the benifit of others.

Wow great thread, looking forward to this one developing. BTW I just spotted on the same site a superb build thread on the Fanatec Rennsport Cockpit, check it out - http://www.gtforums.co.uk/gtforumsc1/showthread.php?tid=162 I have been searching all over the web for a review of this cockpit as I am planning on getting one myself to with the Turbo S wheel
