Well, my initial reaction after first using the Clubsport pedals the other night
was a little mixed. I tried them out with iRacing and rFactor. The construction quality and feel of the pedals is outstanding. They really feel solid and well-made. My initial reaction when first opening the box and feeling the pedals was that the Clubsport gas pedal was as stiff as the G25 gas pedal. Well, I was a little off there. It's not as stiff, but I really like it. I also really like the adjustability of the pedal plates. I took out the spacer behind the gas pedal and moved the brake and clutch plates down, and to the left to give my feet more room as I use my left foot to brake. Already, I like the ergonomics of the Clubsports better than the G25 in that respect. They are more comfortable to use so far
The only downside I am noticing so far is with the brake on the Clubsports.
And this may have more to do with the fact that I don't play PC sims anywhere near as much as GT5 Prologue. But, I spent a good 4+ hours playing around with iRacing and rFactor, and I am noticing that with the brake on the Clubsports, I am seemingly applying either too much or not enough brake input in the games. For example, in GT5P, I am accustomed to using a small amount of brake (maybe 20-30%) to scrub off a bit of speed before entering some corners. I am noticing with the Clubsports that it is more difficult so far to apply this small amount of brake input. I was winding up having to press the brake harder than I wanted to and was scrubbing off too much speed or simply locking the tires up (especially in the Solstice at the entrance to Laguna Seca's corkscrew).
At the moment, I am thinking that I simply need more seat time with the pedals in order to get used to them. As I said, the brake is very stiff (stiffer than the one in my car even

) and that is something I am not used to with the G25. I can see where the Clubsport brake should be significantly better than the G25 in terms of threshold braking--it slows you down in a hurry, no mistake about that. For example, I was running a touring car at the Nurburgring GP circuit in rFactor, and the Clubsports really are amazing at slowing the car down entering the low speed corners/hairpin at that track.
So far I have installed the Fanatec driver, as well as the firmware update and I set the deadzone in the firmware update to zero. I have also made sure the potentiometer dial is turned all the way to the right. I have the brake pedal in the first hole. But as others have pointed out, there is no extra metal slug to put in the brake, so I don't know if Fanatec has already put the preferred slug in there or not. I don't really think what I am dealing with is a deadzone issue. I am hopeful that what I noticed the other night was just due to not being used to the stiffness of the brake, as well as the fact that PC sims are much more realistic in their re-creation of weight transfer as well as hard braking. It is much easier to lock the brakes up in iRacing or rFactor than it is in GT5P. I really can't wait to get the GT3RS wheel set up and see how the pedals work with GT5P, as that's the main reason I bought them anyway.
Otherwise, I really like everything about the pedals, especially the adjustability. Is anyone having a similar experience to mine so far, in terms of getting used to the brake on the Clubsports?
