@MrCh1p
Do we really ignore the negative ones? I do not check it frequently so it could be that I am not aware of all posts here. I am sure Armin will come back to you as he did before. He is on holiday this week and perhaps not all of his cases has been transfered.

@Delphic reason
Not sure if I really understand your problem but everything you write indicates that it is not a problem of the wheel but with the game or your console.
If you have problems with the 900° mode you should do the following in gameplay:
Change SEN from 900 to 540 and wait for 10 seconds
Change SEN back to 900 and wait again for 10 seconds
Resume gameplay.

Unfortunately, that is certainly the impression you give - just check out the other Fanatec thread here, or on many other forums where so many people are frustrated through lack of communication.

How is it that you can come on here and reply, knowing full well that Armin is on holiday, and yet still not reply to customer queries or complaints to your own site or through e-mail?

So what do I do now? Wait for Armin to come back from holiday and hope I get a response?

I do not feel this is good enough or even acceptable and will not be waiting much longer.

My turbo S works great with nearly every game. Forza just do not have 1:1 steering animation or even linear steering ratio. It is a good game but falls short to be a simulator on many aspects.

Fanatec...: Could you please address my concern posted on the previous page that must have been missed.
Just received my Fanatec wheel yesterday with the standard pedals and I am very pleased! My only concern is regarding the clutch pedal. It makes an awful noise when pressed. The brake and accelerator pedals are almost silent when I press them but the clutch pedal sounds awful. Is this somewhat normal? Is there anything I can do to get rid of this noise?

Just received an email from Fanatec to say the clubsport pedals are now being sold for 149 Euros and I still have my 50 Euro voucher for the delay in getting the wheel. So I've ordered straight away. A shiny new set of clubsports for only 100 Euro!

Within 270° it does have 1:1 steering animation.

Also, I wouldn't say at all that it fails to be a simulator on many aspects.

Yeah, there are a few, but as far as consoles go, there is currently nothing better.

I received that email too and will gladly upgrade to the clubsport pedals but it would be nice to get some support on my defective standard pedals.

Enthusia professional racing for PS2 is better.

BTW new FW for turbo s is out.

I haven't ever played it, but I still feel comfortable in doubting it. :p

I imagine it lacks clutch and gated shifter support, which I have found adds immensely to the experience. At least in Forza. I didn't like the clutch support in GT5p at all.

I was going to update the firmware, but it looks like it keeps the fans on all the time now. I'd actually like to hear/see some opinions on it first. If the fans at low speed are quiet enough, then I might go ahead and update, but I haven't had any heat issues, so if it just adds noise I'll pass.

Also, I don't drift, so that extra drift setting is useless to me.

You've mentioned that the car turns after the animation stops, this is what happens to me. From my view it sounds like your in 900 mode or something but you've been side tracked by this steering animation and you don't see why it would stop. Before I asked you to ignore the animation and look at the car and telemetry before flashing you wheel, phoning Fanatec etc, that's all.

Sorry for the late reply, but I have been in and out of the hospital following a skateboarding accident. The last 2 days I have finally started to rejoin the internet community. Anyway...

You are all right about the GT5:P animation. I don't know what I was thinking of.:dunce:

As for Forza 3, my wheel was not working properly, and it was absolutely (and factually) not entering into 900 mode (on any game it seems). So, my observations were not incorrect. My wheel's Firmware was faulty. After updating to the latest Firmware (Ultimate Edition 669) the wheel does enter into 900 degrees and work as it should (as everyone else has noted it should). Of course, even working as it should Forza 3's 900 mode is so flawed due to the stupid steering buffers that cannot be disabled. It's like the linearity is turned way up. Very odd, and not very realistic at all.

Beyond that, there are some wonderful new features to the latest FW update.

Adjustable Deadzone (all GT games are now playable)!
Adjustable Linearity
Adjustable Steering Ratio (adjust between 0 and 900 in increments of 10)!!!

Other than that, the fans are now always on (reducing overheating) which I thought was going to bother me, but honestly with my 5.1 turned up, I can't hear it anyway.

Loving the new firmware, Thomas!

Enthusia professional racing for PS2 is better.

As a simulator, you are absolutely correct.

Forza 3 is a great game, but is far from being a great simulator.

;)

Beside that, if you already have a G25 you can buy the clubsport pedals separatly or you just buy the wheel of 911 Turbo S Pure edition and use your G25 pedals with it.

Really?

If and when my G25 dies I may have a look at Fanatec :)

You already got the firmware?

Yes indeed. I have been doing some testing with various games to make sure everything is at it should be.

If anyone has any questions about it, don't be afraid to ask. I've fiddled with all the new settings quite a bit. Tested with Enthusia, GT3/GT4/GT5:P, F1:CE, Ferrari Challenge, Forza 2/Forza 3, etc... (as well as some PC titles like RBR, LFS, and GTR2/GTR Evo)

Rest assured, you will all be very happy when it is released. I have yet to come up against a game that is not compatible. GT5:P plays like a dream now. No shaking on center, thanks to the new deadzone and linearity settings.

;)

Fanatec Porsche Carrera Wheel
Review starts around 25 minute mark

Best wheel for the money? You guys thinking of getting this instead of DF GT and or G25?

You can see them showing off the new Firmware on the Carrera review.

With all the on wheel adjustability, it's a no brainer. The DFGT is a bit less, but has no clutch, no shifter, and no on wheel adjustments (ratio, FFB, deadzone, etc...)

The G25/27 is almost double the price of the Carrera but has no on wheel adjustability.

If you're anything like me, and want your steering ratio to mimic the vehicle you are driving (at least roughly so), you need to be able to adjust the steering ratio, and the Fanatec wheels are the only products that offer that adjustability.

I just watched that episode. I think they mention somewhere in there that Fanatec is planning for this to be their big PS3/GT5 wheel, and on Thomas' blog he says production is about to begin on the Carrera wheel.

Hmmm...sounds to me like the wheel will be ready in a month or two, could that possibly mean a Summer GT5 release? Wonder if Thomas has any inside info?

Incidentally, Jessica Lopez is HAWT! :O She's about to bust out of that shirt :drool:

Carrera is gear driven. Belt is the Turbo S and RS wheels.

Also, there was one USER comment talking about
CLUBSPORT SHIFTER
CLUBSPORT HAND BRAKE
you think its true? Because Thomas did mention they were working on something, and only testers and review guys with Fanatec and Logitech wheels will get hands on a unannounced product.. I was thinking some kind of improved shifter. so ClubSport Shifter and handbrake sounds plausible.

@strtgng
Don't worry. The PWTS is still the best wheel in our range and has several features the Carrera does not have like:
sequential shifter
Leather
button illumination
better surface finish
steel plate for pedals
a lot of other small details
and the smooth belt drive!

The PWC was designed more to compete against the other medium range wheels on the market and deliver an outstanding price performance.

The Clubsport Shifter and Clubsport Handbrake is indeed going to be produced at some point.

http://www.911wheel.de/?q=blogs/thomas

The Clubsport Shifter goes into pre-production at the end of the year. No news on when the Handbrake will go into production yet. The scuttlebut is the handbrake will most likely connect to the CSP's making it compatible with console games. (The CSP's already have a jack on them to allow such expansion).

DR: What is the version number of the firmware? (when you press two lover thumb buttons on both sides of wheel at the same time)

Look forward to this new wheel coming which can only be a good thing for gamers.

Also congrats to "Fanatec" for continuing with improving their products offering benifits you only get with "Fanatec". Seriously they get lots of flack for issues but not enough compliments for many other things. Logitech dont do extras for their wheels, they dont do updates to improve or add features. They dont manufacture wheelstands or racing frames and they dont offer additional pedals and upcoming shifters. I would say that this new budget wheel is a very important release for Fanatec and tbh I expect it to become a very popular item.

Good luck to Thomas and the whole team....

Good luck to fanatec to establish a retailer network which is quite essential to get mass market success for budget wheel.

@Mr Latte
Thanks a lot for your support. It is good to hear that there are a lot of fans out there and this is what we are working for. Racing peripherals are not just one of many product lines for us. It is our core business. What many people dont know: Until 2004 Fanatec sold more wheels than anybody else and we were number one. We want to get back there!

@Raitzinger
The reason why we can deliver our products with this incredible price performance is the lower margin we have because of e-commerce distribution. It is clear that we do not make as much turnover but that does not matter to us. We rather make more profit with less units and les cash flow involved. I also appreciate the direct connection to our customers so we can react very fast to the market and stay ahead of the game. But that does not fully exclude retail. In some cases like Gamestop Italy it makes sense to sell to retail.

UE669, but I'll have to check. It may just say "669". Granted there are two FW's with 669 in them. The newer version carries the prefix "UE" for (Ultimate Edition).

EDIT: I just checked, and the LCD says "669". Rest assured, it is not the same as the last firmware 669, as it has all the features showcased on the Carrera wheel in the Inside Sim Racing review.

;)

we use the same version number on all wheels. Even PWC has FW 669. But we make different features for different models.

Any word on more XBox 360 supported wheels? A lower priced wheel like this with 360 support would be great!

Here is a post on the subject from Thomas's blog:

Thomas's Blog
We finished the production of the Porsche 911 Turbo S wheel after exactly 10.000 units.

During it's very short life cycle we made some changes after we found some issues on the very first units but other than that the production went smoothly as planned.

Many people has asked us what will come next but we have not decided yet to make another Xbox 360 wheel as this is a very expensive and complicated process and the market is limited.

Not real promising for the near future, though not a definitive "Not going to happen" either.

Thanks for posting that! Thats unfortunate. The wireless is probably what makes it so expensive.
