Perhaps whilst they're building more and more cars every year they are having to cut corners?
It's not like it was sudden either, the popped the hood and basically just stared at the flames for quite a while...
He did have a fire extinguisher, you can see him spraying the inside of the car. Also, I don't think they thought that the smoke would eventually turn into a fire. Usually when a car is off, it cools down. They probably figured the flames woudl just stop eventually. If they put water on it, the really fast transition from hot to hold can warp the metal, and I'm sure you don't want that to happen to your turbo.I find it hard to feel sorry for the VW driver. I feel for his loss, it looks like a very nice car, but he kinda brought it on himself.
Performance modifications=greater chances of stuff like that.
I cannot believe you can spend thousands of dollars on modifications yet not keep a fire extinguisher somewhere in the car. There is always a chance of mechanical malfunctions, and with an extinguisher, the damage would have been minimal. It's not like it was sudden either, the popped the hood and basically just stared at the flames for quite a while...
That's sad. I wonder how much it would cost to repair that Ferrari F430?
More than to just replace the car. Very little if anything would be re-usable.
Most people with nice cars have insurance, also after investigation if the fire was caused by a Ferrari design fault then Ferrari should be replacing it and making sure it doesnt happen again.
I forgot about that. Seems like he's going to get a new Ferrari F430 soon. Lucky guy.
