Any Artists Here?

Thank you. I am working with oil base clay so it doesn't dry out. I haven't really had much time to work on it, but here is how it looks as of a few weeks ago.

Looks like it's going through a developing phase. Very nice - the future looks bright. :)

I used to work with oil-based clay myself - in fact kind of got addicted to the smell; it always made me feel creative, and sort of 'eccentric artist'-like.

Oil-based paints do that to me, too - especially when I got the linseed oil and turps being flung around like I was Van Gogh on one of his more than eccentric days.

Chin, nose, cheek-bones all go together - seems like this mask has legitimate DNA. :) 👍[/quote]

-> Here are the Ricers I've drawn from the other thread, I would think its a bit more appropriate to post it here:

Took me less than ten minutes to do this - oil pastels and a bit of kerosene (I ran out of turps!)

IMG_4702_zpsyqm3r8vr.jpg

Artists who are familiar with both mediums would say - 'Bah, I can do that too, in five minutes flat.' And probably could.

There is an artist I once saw in downtown Toronto who would sketch a passesby's portrait in less than five minutes. Cost you a toonie and away you'd go with a pencilled portrait of oneself.

5 minutes is good. People who draw train themselves to be able to do gesture drawings in 1 minute, maybe less.

Lets see here. I took an abundance of art classes in Highschool. And let me say I am not very talented. At all.

The best thing I have ever done in my opinion is this Eagle's Face.

IMG_20140930_145558.jpg

I might be able to get a better picture of it. Anyways I never got to finish it because I wanted it laminated and it had to be in a certain time frame.

There's a lot of 'technical' art in there. Great job - did you go to Art School? Ad Agencies are not the same they were a decade ago, but good graphic artists are always in demand in today's visually-oriented world.

Thanks :)

Nope, no art school for me. I enjoyed drawing a lot growing up so I took "Drawing and Painting" I and II in high school as electives and then a 100 level art class in college to satisfy a credit requirement, but that is it. That drawing was actually the first portrait I've done in about 6 years.

Here's a bunch of the work I did for the college class.

I've taken 2 art classes in highschool, despite having no previous drawing experience, but I'm probably not gonna take another one due to how slow I work with my art. I'm kinda a perfectionist, so it's sad that I have had to rush some of these.
So here's some of my stuff from this past year:

-Charcoal Skulls: Unfinished, spent too much time on one skull.

-Jimi Hendrix, Oil Pastels: Rushed the background.
FullSizeRender.jpg

-Julian Casablancas - Charcoal Portrait: Slightly smeared after being rolled up for so long.

All in all, I'm impressed by myself, I have the least steady hands in the world (which explains why these photos are so blurry) and I never really expected my work to be decent.

And here's one I did in my free time, digital watercolor of Jimmy Page done in photoshop:

Love that Hendrix poster. What size is it?

@kolio123 - you need to develop those eagle eyes, right? :sly:

Yes I do!

By the way this was originally supposed to be a colered pencil assignment, but my teacher let it slide because I told him the eyes would be yellow. :P

Hey, @CowboyAce57, I plan on doing a drawing of my avatar. The Man in Black.

It may take a few months, but I WILL do it.

EDIT: This is Johnny Cash for those of you who may not know.

Looking forward to seeing how the result of your strenuous artwork turns out to be, no matter how long it might take you to get that done... :)

If you scroll up, you will see an eagle picture I did. And that is the extent of my talent. So don't get to worked up. :P

I don't know if Photoshop edits belong here, but here's an edit I did a few days ago. My car, a Nissan Primera SRi, soon to be Infiniti G20. The only thing that is real on this pic is the taillights. The bumper has black trim and ugly, haha. And the bit between the taillights doesn't sit right, the brakelight on the spoiler is broken, and yeah. The trunk is too low on the right side, and the list goes on and on. This car is far from pretty irl atm. Repaired most of the ugly stuff and made it look better, as I want it to look when I'm done.

First, I apologize for putting this here. I looked for an appropriate thread, but didn't find one that matches as closely as this one.

I build bird houses out of junk. Wood, metal, etc. Stuff that was headed for the landfill ends up in my garage until I find a use.

I consider them to be more art pieces than actual functioning birdhouse.

Here are just a few I've done in the last year.
