Just wondering if any one here is a fan of these cars. I am in love with fast SUV'S! I Wish they had all of these cars in one game! any owners? I one day will have my srt8 in my garage!

Somehow I doubt that has 1100hp when a FWD drag car and then a Golf aren't getting completely wasted by it.

I'd rather have the Jeep. People won't think its a beater.

I love the Jeep SRT8. It is the second fastest SUV only beaten by Porsche's Cheyenne. However, it doesn't take much for the SRT8 to beat it. I read an article where both the Porsche and Jeep were given similar upgrades and the Jeep beat the Porsche...and it costs half as much.

My best friend's dad had a Syclone when we were little. I remember my friend, my friend's mom, his little sister, and I being in the family's saturn and Nate (friend's Dad) in the syclone after a trip to plunder the local home improvement store for wood and stuff to build a treehouse. Nate pulled up next to a Viper of some sort (can't remember whether or not it was an RT/10. I think it was) and they raced off the line. The poor sucker in the dodge didn't have a chance.

I really don't care for fast SUVs on a whole, but they do make some wonderful noise.

i HAD an S Blazer Tahoe (my old avatar pic). it drank gas like it was cheap booze 'cause someone never paid any attention to the engine before I got it.

The motor has 1100hp, it doesn't mean it's putting it out at the wheels. Plus a GMC Jimmy weighs quite a bit more then a purpose built drag car or an old Golf. It's like a Supra or a 300ZX, sure you can bolt on a ton of horsepower but it doesn't mean it's going to be a 6 second car.

I have no doubt it's at 1100hp since getting big number out of the engine is pretty easy. There were several guys on the S-10 forums that had 500-600hp street driven Sys and Tys.

And only someone who doesn't know about cars would assume it's a beater.

That's got one hell of an engine , gotta love the roar! Jeep srt8's are fast and 'cheap'priced compared to porsche cayenne and range rover's. And there american!

GMT-350 blazers and Jimmys run about 3975(1800 kg), if I remember what my scrap value sheet, said.

"High performance" trucks and SUVs are oxymorons in my book. Pretty much everything you do to them compromises the original design intent.

A Ford Raptor, however, doesn't. 👍 Not that I am a huge fan.

I really only like the outrageous high performance trucks; GAZ, MAN, VOLVO, DAF, SCANIA etc

Neandertal (that's not a typo, they dropped the H): mabey over there. but not everybody uses a truck or SUV for it's intended purpose over here. this is one of the reasons there's HMMWV's floating around that are 95 percent stereo speakers. I'm one of the few people that actually used a truck for it's intended purpose. and they still broke. you try slogging through logging roads in the soaking wet falls with a broken 4 wheel drive.

-> You should rename it Performance/Sporty Trucks and SUVs/CUVs Fans. ;)

I'm not knocking people who actually need a truck/ SUV. I am knocking on the ones that reduce the vehicles capability.

You take an imminently capable Grand Cherokee. Lower it, and add high performance springs, shocks, and tires. Congrats, your vehicle can now go fast in a straight line.

But have you tried to drive that thing in snow? Off road? To tow a boat?

Utility compromised....
That's what i'm knocking.

Nean: lemmie explain something regarding SUV's. All through the eighties and Ninties, american cars were detuned pieces of crap with 150 horse V6's, slushboxes, and 70 profile tires. Americans craved POWER, and the closest thing they could get during these times that resembled the WOOHOO inducing muscle cars were rear wheel drive pickups and SUV's, which were exempt from the mega safety standards that detuned the American Automobile, including the CAFE standard (minimum mandated fuel comsumption). it took detroit a while to notice. what killed the muscle truck wave was the 5 dollar a gallon gas, which was too much even for yanks (i drove a 9 mpg SUV in the peak period of this mess!). I believe they're finally figuring out a way to combine the Power we crave and the economy we need.

I'm intimately aware of the reasons for cars being emasculated power wise (it was emissions, not safety...) and that trucks were exempt as working vehicles until more people began buying them as personal vehicles, whereupon their exemption was revoked and they were also mandated to adhere to CAFE regulations, albeit at a much lower tier. And that tier was not messed with much until very recently.

I drove a Lincoln Navigator during the height of the mess of $4 a gallon or more gas.

I am all for a new taxing/ licensing/ registration system that will include the weight of the vehicle as a consideration of the registration fees. These 7000lb SUVs are getting over the top. The Volt is close to 4000lbs?

But that's us getting sidetracked.

I think the weight tax is a state regs thing. here, all trucks have two windsheild stickers. the inspection, and the PA weight class. i think it's also county by county and township by township, cause there's no weight class stickers where I live.

there's be some problems with trying to get a national unless they used the same ideas they did for emissions settings.

also, the SUV and truck explanation is also for the Brits and Europeans, so they know how weird the regs are here.

The SRT-8 is the greatest Jeep created. Although, I don't think it has very much off-road potential:sly:

Get an srt-8 and a regular (older) jeep cherokee. Problem solved- U got a highspeed jeep racer and an offroad monster that no matter which one you buy parts for the inherent jeep prices will make you tell your significant other "jeep= Just Emptied Every Pocket". My personal solution Pick up two first gen S-10 Blazers (1 4x4 and 1 2wd) build em up and still spend less and have more than If I were to get just the srt8

Funny thing is, I saw one of those today. Haven't seen on in like 10 years, only after I post that post in this topic.

One of the few Toyotas I'd actually like to own, the Tacoma X-Runner has always tickled my fancy in the sporty truck segment:

They had benchmarked the Nissan 350Z for the performance of the truck, and as I recall, they came awfully damn close to matching it. It's a shame they're so hard to find, I'd love to have one.
