Any stores planning a midnight launch?

Got mine at Walmart at midnight. They only had 8 copies, which i was surprised by. Probably the rest were preordered.
 
Got mine at Walmart just now.

When I first got there (about 11:50) there was a guy there already, waiting on someone to find the game. They had been looking in the back for 10 minutes. Finally a 2nd and then 3rd person went and looked, and around 12:10 they finally found it. They only had one box, looked like about 20 copies.

6 of them were gone just to the people there waiting with me.

I'll go to Gamestop tomorrow probably to cancel my preorder (also need to cancel Assasin's Creed) and sell GT5:P and Fallout:NV.
 
Just got mine right now!! Holy **** I'm excited!!

By the way, anyone going to the Walmart in Miami Doral, just a heads up. The games are not in the electronic dept. they can be purchased at register number 2. in the front of the store. Installing as we speak!

For those of you in the Los Angeles area, Gameplay in Culver City will have them available at 8PM tonight, 10 minutes from now! I'm heading over there to pick up GT 5!

Are they staying open any later than usual? Would rather buy from them than Walmart.
 
its 5:40 in the morning here in Ireland, i cant sleep. I guess im still gonna geet up at 9 and buy gran turismo though

Same for me. No midnight launch. :( I will be at Gamestops front door at exactly 10 a.m.
Drive home (10mis max) install then while its installing make a killer breakfast to commemorate this occasion!!!!!!!

Seattle represent! Have mine pre ordered at best buy, probably going to Walmart tonight to pick one up as well!
 
Just got my copy from Walmart on hand, I am writing this while installs (59% so far) .. first I got there @ 11:55, the guy @ electronics had NO IDEA, he said they don't have, been Walmart I knew he was lost in time probably, so I walk to the front, 2 ladies later I got one that pointed me to the manager, he went to the back, came with 3 on hand, I got the first.

Got home, cancelled my pre-order (from Walmart.com -bye bye stealth NSX-) and now I am ready to play an hour, then go back to sleep (I WILL TRY HARD, I must be @ my client @ 8am :crazy::crazy::crazy: OK 91% ...

I CAN'T WAIT!! I might just enjoy the intro + play some "arcade" mode races then kill the 5 years wait!!

I had a similar scenario.. Almost fainted when I arrived at Walmart. The ladies working at the electronics dpt. were changing shifts in a hurry to go home, saying the game wasn't being released till 5am!

Hell no!


Game install has started at exactly 12:43am, 8GB of data!!!!l no wonder it takes about 45 mins to install the whole game.. I should be playing it by 1:20am or so.. lol

Does anyone know if walmart's will be getting the collectors edition? I have mine on preorder from newegg. But when i check newegg it shows on hold still. So i'm thinking about rolling to walmart and hoping to get lucky with a ce.

Walmart is suppose to have the collectors edition. I will find out soon!
 
Only one store in Toronto opened at midnight to sell it.

...So I did the logical thing and drove across town to get it!

I can't wait for this install to be finished, 20 minutes left!

Got mine at Walmart also. Took 30 minutes because the person that works the electronics dept. was on break. I was surprised how few copies they had, about 10.
 
Huh. Guess what. Wal Mart didn't have it anywhere in Ottawa.

Oh well, maybe later this morning I guess.

Small world... I used to live up the street in Doral before moving out to SoCal. Be careful, I've known a few people who had their cars broken into at that parking lot at Walmart.

Small world indeed man. Yes, that parking lot is famous for thieves, but so is the whole freakin' MIA..

Always wanted to visit S. Cali, one of these days, maybe San Diego 👍
 
Got mine at Walmart also, same deal, I had to convince them that they did actually have it, and it was probably in the back. They finally found the box!

This makes me furious, I just went to walmart and first I could see that they had a place for it but they had no copies and second there was no one there to help me, just people stocking. Although, I did get there about 12:15 so I might have missed the copies that did exist; I was there for CE though, so I guess I'll go to bed and get it with my pre-order at best buy in the morning, 9am sharp. 👍 To those who did get it tonight, congrats and see you on the track tomorrow.

all the wal-marts around me close at 11... and EB didnt feel a midnight release was necessary, so here i am, 2:47 in the AM... no GT5... :grumpy:

Lucky, I live 5 mins. away from the Walmart at Doral but decided to go to sleep early and just wait for Gamestop tomorrow. Well I'm still here awake watching an old movie. I'll have it tomorrow after work. 👍
