Any stores planning a midnight launch?

I just wanted to install the thing overnight so when I woke up it would be ready to go. Why must things be so difficult..
 
I thought November 2nd was the confirmed release date?

I asked the guy at Gamestop when I preordered it and he was pretty sure they were going to do a midnight release.
 
had a chat to my local eb games and he thinks that because gt is not a big enough game, and call of duty is coming out just before it with a midnight launch, they won't do one. so i canceled my pre-order, went to game traders who are doing a midnight launch, and secured my copy there. :)

My local EB isn't doing it. Their excuse: It's too close to Cod Black Ops and we want to do a midnight release for that instead :grumpy:👎

A midnight release for Cod instead of GT5? Where is the logic in that? People have been waiting for GT5 for ages.

Don't hold me to this but I think MW2 is the biggest selling game in history so the next Codl 1 year later is guaranteed big sales and attention.
 
Well, the GameStop in Clackamas, OR. On Sunnyside will most likely be doing a midnight release for it. They told me to check back two weeks before. I will keep everyone updated.

I called the Gamestop on Tuesday I ordered at and they gave a resounding NO! I am one of only a whopping 4 preorders..WOOHOO!! I get to drive in rush hour traffic to get mine! :(
 
I just called the location near me and he said that they will most likely be doing it. I wish they knew for sure though.
 
I called a few GameStops in my area, and I got a broad range of answers. The one in Bellevue Square said that they might do it, but they aren't sure yet. They don't have enough pre-orders but if they do, they would do it. One of the downtown Seattle locations said they are not going to do one; and the Crossroads Mall Gamestop person said that they are likely to do one. He said that he can't guarantee anything, but he said he would be surprised if they did not do a midnight launch.
 
Oh yes My Game Stop which is 3min away from me I might add :sly: is having a 12 AM release. When I asked the girl she said oh yes most defiantly! We talked for about 15 min about GT5 she was just as excited as I was. 👍
 
Like the person said about Walmart, if you live in the Great Lakes region there is always Meijer. I went there for Smash Bros Brawl at midnight and to find a small group of people in line waiting. Limited copies because of course its Meijer and not Best Buy. There are 3 Gamestops in my area and there still could be a chance, but usually people have to wait the next day for UPS. And at that, they still don't know really when the person is going to show.

I'm planning on calling in the next week or so and talking to someone about it. It worked before, so there's a chance it can happen again...i might have to call in sick.

Went into EB Games in the Western Suburbs of Sydney, they said no plans [EDIT: for midnight launch] from any of the stores they knew of. If someone wants to check further east, that'd be great.
 
Sony did made midnight launch in some shops here in São Paulo for God of War III (some shops even had a guy disguised as Kratos), so i expect the GT5 midnight launch plan to be even bigger and complex.
 
My nearest Game store don't know weather they are going to do one for GT5 and then they said they don't know if they are doing one for Black Ops.

Have to wait and see what there decision is.
 
Game in Plymouth are doing a midnight launch, if that's any help to people on here. The top one by the mall. Not sure about the bigger store in New George Street.

amazon's standard edition of the game is only $60 and u get a $10 credit, does amazon's collectors ed come with $10 credit?

i just checked their website and the offer is only for the standard edition.

When I asked the Gamestop guy, he said "No, we only do that for popular games", which on the face of that isn't a bad thing to say, but it was the way he said it. I said "you're *****ing me, right?" Then he was like "no no no, that's not what I meant" then went on to explain that he loves GT, and people in the Americas are only into simple games, which may or may not be true, I don't know. I don't really care. I just want GT.

Shelby gets a midnight launch but still no confirmed one for Wilmington. WTF! lol

EB games Fairfield is a no,they said to me that Wetherill park would be your best bet for a midnight launch. Harvey Norman liverpool is a maybe on a midnight launch too. How far out west are you looking?

Round Blacktown area, I'm going through every game shop - that I can get anywhere near to - tomorrow to see if there is anywhere in there that is doing it. I'll ask how many pre orders they've received and if those numbers are bumped up, if they'll go midnight release. If anybody in the U.K round the Sheffield area has found anywhere doing a midnight launch, I'd love to know, going on holiday there, and will be there on release.

Cool,i look forward to your results from your shop tour! I used to live in blacktown and now work there,i`m happy to race out there for a midnight release in there is a 100% confirmed release from a shop there! :sly:

GAME = If the pre order numbers get high enough.

P.S The guys at Gametrader are awesome, both assistants are pre ordering GT5. We discussed the game for about 15 minutes, most of the time I was just telling them stuff I found out here (Dynamic weather, course maker etc.) :)

Cool thanks for that:tup: I`ll look up the number for GAME in blacktown and i`ll harrass them in the week leading upto the release day,maybe they will crack?? I`ll lean on some other places to see if the will crack too. EB fairfield wont sell it on wed 3/11 at closing time,said it wont register on their system till the 4th. Sounds like a bit of B.S to me,it would have to be ready to go from opening time thurs wouldn`t it
 
GameStop faces a fine over $1000 for a "street dated" game sold it's scheduled time of sale. My store sold me EyePet a week before release on accident. Did not matter because it did bot have a "street date, only a release date. That's what they tell me anyway.

Mick already said it. EB's pro'ly doing a midnight launch. I hope they do that for BO and HP3 as well. (Who knew so many awesome games would release in the space of a few weeks?)
