Harvey Norman in Liverpool,Sydney,Australia is doing a midnight release on the 24th(confirmed on phone just now) for those who are interested. I`d dare say all H/N are doing a midnight release and hoping to sell some PS3`s and wheels also.

I think there won't be a Midnight Launch because of two reasons:

1) Its the day before Thanksgiving
2) Its not a Tuesday.

Either way, I wouldn't go at Midnight just to buy a game since I'm not going to stay up that late to go and play it. I can get the game at 10 AM that day and since its a pre-order, all I have to do is walk in and pick it up.

Well thats you I will be getting the game at 12:00am maybe 10min earlier and playing it at 12:05/11:55 Jeah!

Well the local Gamestops here in Calgary aren't doing a midnight launch so any local Calgarians that preordered it from Gamestop, just to let you guys know that they aren't doing a midnight launch :(

If my AK gamestop is not doing a midnight release date, then I am going to cancel my preorder and get it from somewhere that will. I am not going to support gamestop's crap if they aren't going to respect GT fans :grumpy:

If you are referring to Gamestop then you are

1) wrong
2) wrong

Gamestop has done midnight releases on other days of the week aside from just Tuesday. That has nothing to do with it. The day before thanksgiving? Well... you're right and wrong. It has nothing to do with thanksgiving. It has a lot to do with whether or not the location has enough staff to do a midnight release on Wednesday as well as a midnight opening on black Friday.

Some locations simply don't have the manpower to do both. The guys that run the gamestop I have mine preordered at still haven't made their minds up yet.

edit: And why the hell is a Gamestop opening at midnight on black friday? Who the hell is going to say, "Oh my God, it's Black Friday! Lets go to Gamestop instead of the Best Buy that's a block away!"

I preordered my copy online at gamestop.com for in-store pickup on release day. If gamestop receives their shipment ahead of time, I'm hoping they can sell it to me a day earlier.

I called my local gamestop and they say they might do a midnight launch, and that each gamestop makes that call independently.

They can't and they won't. I preordered Forza 3 for an in-store pickup and it was listed as shipped two days prior. The day before release I swung in on the way home from work just to give it a go. His exact words were "Yes, it's sitting in the back room just around that corner and no, I can't sell it to you yet for reasons beyond me..."

None of the games i like get a midnight release :(

seriously, i don't know anyone else around this area that likes the GT series. Or any simulators.

I preordered CE from gamestop , but i live in a small town way in the north , so i probably wont get it the 24 , even the 25 is doubtful.

So ill go to on of the small local store ,(the guy wasnt sure yet he would do it , the store close at midnight already so im pretty sure ill have no problem) and buy a stardard version .

When my CE finally arrive ill give the standard to my brother as an early christmas present.:dopey:

Anyone knows if GameStops will have Midnight release?
Game is out on the 24th, Wednesday. Will I be able to pick up Tuesday at midnight?

Umm, not for nothing, but did you even read the last page?

In a nutshell: It varies from store to store so your best bet is to check with yours.

My goal is to have the Standard Edition ASAP. Here is my situation and plan:

I have a preorder with release date delivery through Amazon. I'm going to hold onto that in case I can't get it from a store. But my backup for the case of Amazon failing is as follows:

I'm going to Meijer (24hour) on Tuesday night and trying to pick it up at midnight. If my backups are excessive then I will have one unopened game that I will return. :)

I don't want to run the risk of missing it on Wednesday because that may mean that I can't get it until the following Monday.

Oh, Ive miss that read, I thought GameStops are all the same all over the USA. Yeah I think I have to give the guys a call.

Heheh.. it's all good man. If you're in Philly proper you shouldn't have a hard time finding one doing a midnight launch. Unless you've got a pre-order, then you can't be as indiscriminate.

The 2 nearest Gamestops to me are located in malls and they never have midnight launches. I may have just spoken from my location, but none of the 5+ Gamestops in the town next to mine have never been open at Midnight due to blue laws I believe.

I preordered CE through gamestop.com with free overnight delivery. I have never ordered online from them before, are they usually pretty good about being delivered on release day? Kinda worried that because of Thanksgiving being the next day I may not get it on the 24th. Dont want to cancel my preorder and go with best buy because I want all the free downloadable cars!

Ahh Bergen County ... land of gridlocked shoppers :D

I don't think the blue laws apply to the midnight openings because I know 2 towns in Bergen County (Edgewater and Fort Lee) that usually do have midnight openings. The one in Fort Lee was scheduled to do a midnight launch for the Nov 2nd release, but I don't know if they're doing one now.

Are the downloadable cars really worth not going to Walmart (or other 24 hour store) at midnight? Aren't they the same as already included cars, but with stripes?

I just came from Gamestop today and they said that it wasn't up to them but up to Sony because the game is coming out on Wednesday...

I don't think Sony has any say in when a retail outlet chooses to do a midnight opening. It's kind of absurd to even believe that. THE ONLY THING Sony can ask is the retailer to not sell until release date, but not what time or if the store should open at midnight or not.

From my understanding, which is a lot more logical, a store decides to do a midnight opening if they've received enough pre-orders. Some people speculate that magic number to be 100.

Whatever the case though, tell your gamestop to stop talking crap. (I'm in jersey too, btw).

How does WalMart do their releases, seeing as they're open 24/7? They may be my only option since I'll be out of town.

My local walmart doesn't sell until midnight. Some even have a restriction in place that the item won't ring up until midnight.

You say that like it's a bad thing. At least someone is going to have a copy available at midnight. I haven't found a single other place within 20 miles of me that cares to cater to anyone that wants to play something other than CoD or Halo.
