I agree with Talon here. Apparently this is a standard car. I think it's beautiful. There may be no interior but the driver is still visible and somehow they may still have managed to put a dash and a steering wheel in it...

Edit: And that steering wheel is already visible too

I think that, in the final product, standard cars will be pretty much equal to that graphical and reflective quality, just with blacked out interiors.

At least, I hope. But there's no way any of us can say for sure until the actual game is out.

Premium car's have 400k+ polygons but half is used for interior!!!! So for outside(exterior) they use some 200k polygons... Standard car probable have around 200k and all that polygons are used for car exterior... :D

Yes, I think so too!500k don't mean that you have to see it at once.

200+ premium cars
800+ standard cars
Roger that, I'm happy with the amount and quality.
In the mean time, I usually play GT4, and even without upscaling the cars look great, sure they all jaggy in 540p mode, but here, we have cars, that were polished for the new game.
The only thing I don't like about GT4 cars (but I can happily live with it) are one sided wheels. But I think PD will fix that.

Lets see...
Extreme amount of cars -Check
Realistic driving physics -Check
Realistic collision physics -Check (finally xD)
Sound upgrade -Check
Visual upgrade -Check
Realistic dirt -Check
ooo, reverse lights and realistic smoke -Double Check 8P
etc...
Yup, I'm happy with everything.

Am I happy about the 200 premium cars? No.*

GT5 Should have been;
+ PS3 Launch title.
+ 16 car grids.
+ 800 upscaled models with 10x poly count over GT4.
+ Online capabilities inc. private lobbys.
+ Day/night transition in longer races.
+ Scratch & Dent damage.

These extra features should have been the starting point for GT6.
- 200 Premium cars with accurate HD interiors.
- Physics affecting damage inc. detachable panels.
- NASCAR & WRC licenses (and F1 would be nice too).

*The premium cars were not necessary for GT5, and have no doubt added to the delays.

well, If psp got sound upgrade, then GT5 will go further.
But yes, that's just my thoughts. 💡

(PD still has 4 months to polish things up)

Yep... judging by this lap on PSP, engine and tyre sounds have been improved (at least, the Veyron's engine)

Check out the Volkswagen W12. It sounds miles better that Gt4, oh and don't forget PD's monster formula car, yup, has upgraded sound too.

Agree. While we play GT "5" they can make GT6 with all premium cars,weather,day/night,NASCAR,WRC,damage,etc.etc...

This is what confuses me instead of getting a small taste of the future you rather have all the cars looking like the standard cars. Don't get me wrong i have no problem with the standard cars for the fact they are up to par with the current games im playing now. But just having those 200 premium make me very happy. those cars look amazing and took a lot of time for PD to build. i can live with that.

If we would of got the Standard looking cars in GT5P 1st and PD revealed 200 Premium cars for the 1st time at E3 everyone would have a different mind set about this situation i bet people would be more appreciative. Overall GT5 will still be a great Game!!!

then why are they ONLY use this cars for advertising GT5? We all know why, but that does't make it right. It is like lying to your costumers.:indiff:

I´m NOT happy because this means that there are no selected premium cars which are worth it but simply mostly those that PD modeled for GT5.. so that means no RUF with interior view and so on

I guess GT6 will be the real next GT for the PS3. The whole premium and standard business just buys PD some time to make all of the cars in GT5, premium in GT6.

It's just what I'm thinking, they're doing this to buy themselves some time and money. Which I really don't blame them for now. They're still going to make a LOT of money from this game.

(speculation)

Hoping that all cars in GT6 arn't called premium anymore.

We all know that they will have:

- Full interior recreation
- Physics damage (affects car performance)
- Scratches, dents, dirt accumulation
- Deformation and separation of body panels
-Vehicular roll over
-Headlights: High/low beams

I'm VERY happy with 200 premiums too!But I don't want to standard and premium being mixed in one game! How can I drive standard cars after those premiums? This is like God of War 2 HD mixed with God of War 3 in ONE game, depended on levels. Some looks like GOW2 some like super-next-gen GOW3.HOW???

Iam not happy about two things-

1, That it takes 5 years of waiting and a whole pile of poor translations, badly phrased questions and cryptic responses to eventually find out that the cars have been segregated in such opposing ways.

2, That the ratio of premium cars is so low, with only 200 cars there are probably going to be whole manufacturers who have been given the gt4.5 treatment and 800 b-class cars which undoubtedly will include the favourites of many.

Iam hoping that the '200+' is closer to say 220/230 and that that number will increase steadily either before the nov release date or shortly after.

Overall GT5 will still be a great Game!!!

Instead of getting a two tier car selection, I'd rather have got the game three years ago.

GT5 will be everything it should have been, + half the features that should have been kept back for the next title, released around 2012.

The problem is Kaz is too obsessive. I'd expect him to have resources and features already in the works that will be too much for even the PS3 to handle. If we do eventually get a GT6 for PS3, no doubt some things will have to be limited or even dropped from the game - like the limitations on open top, open wheeled cars in GT4, and the dropping of the rumoured online feature from the same game.

Kazunori is more concerned with quality than with money it's Sony that needs economic profits. That's why PD still has "only" 130 developers and that's why the game has been delayed many times...
The fact is that I think that even if the game has been delayed, even if not every car is "premium"... we will love this game because its new features were developed so much carefully.

That's what it could have been if money was more important that quality.
It could have happened if Kazunori left Polyphony and some Sony producer took over the GT5 project.
Quality is what makes GT series so different from other racing games and videogames in general

I´m very happy with it as I sayed but what I´m worried about is that 200 premium cars means 200 new cars added to the game since GT4 as we know...

That sounds for me like there will be only 4-5 ferraris, 2-3 lambos... Because we´ve already seen 150 premium cars of the game... I was hoping for ALL ferrari´s and ALL Lambos...

I must say, even though we still don´t know everything about GT5, FM3 impresses me in this point, they got a lot of ferraris, lambos and porsches. For me this 3 brands have the most important cars.

I hope they will implement more Ferraris and Lambos in the next 4 months...

I have Forza 3 pretty good game however when you drive those specific cars you listed it just doesn't feel right. Its way to easy. do not get me wrong im not saying im the best hot laper in the game but their is a huge difference from the F430 in GT and the F430 in forza3 driving wise

Yes I know, I´ve played FM3 for 2 months and no other racing game in that time. Yesterday I´ve played Supercar Challenge after a long time ago and I wasnt able to make one single good lap because the FM3 physics were so simple and easy, I completely forgot how hard it is to race with realistic car physics...

I only bought the 360 for FM3 but now I think I will sell it and buy me an G25 for GT5 with that money :)

o ok my bad bro yea way to easy 👍

PD have made 2 outstanding games, in quite a short period of time, before the release of Gran Turismo 5. Therefore it was virtually impossible for them to create 1000 premium cars. The only two solutions would be to have hired more workers (but where would they find 100-200+ of greatly talented designers?) or to have extended the making of the game which would mean that the game would be released in say, 2012-2014 (which would make all of you people troll more and become emotionally depressed).

In addition, the "standard" cars looks absolutely fantastic! IMO, in the final version, they will look equally as good as the premium since there is no way PD will let them look like garbage compared to premium. All of these pictures and videos you're seeing are STILL only contents of the demo version of Gran Turismo 5 meaning that the quality of the game would've been reduced.

So what if you don't get to see the interior/cockpit of a RUF (or whatever) at release. They will certainly add DLC and updates to the game, changing the graphical quality of it and allowing the standard cars to have interiors/cockpits (which would mean they aren't standard anymore but infact premium).

PD have worked their butts off hard these past few years so just cut them some slack. Let them polish of the game before 02/11/10, let them add a few more premium and I guarantee you, the final product will blow you away! :dopey:

I've said it before, but the short term losses with premiums being so detailed, and taking so many man hours will reward in the long run.

We've all seen those frankly insane images of GT5 vs real life.I've read lots about it being over the top,and prioritising in the wrong areas, but in my mind the priorities will be justified in the long run.
Doing all this crazy detail now, means the work load is less and less for the next system,I'm convinced that the high end versions of the premiums we see in the images will drop right into GT next gen.and run a full NASCAR field. If you boost the texture res and quality, lighting ,kaz wants real time ray tracing, those models will probably pass as photo real next gen, during gameplay.

For PD it's a massive assets drive now, this engine is ready for next gen,all the assets aren't as yet.
I'm still gutted at how standard models have turned out,I honestly think every GT fan feels, the same, but knowing what their aiming for in another 4-5 years,I cant help but feel warm inside.

So yeah,i'm happy for the +200 premiums, because when they hit 800 on the next hardware, with all that extra power, all will be forgiven.

Exactly, and 200 of these insanely detailed cars will be more than enough to play with until then. :)

And in the end ( November 2nd ) we all were wrong and get what we wan´t :)

You really believe Kaz (a graphic fetishist) will bring us GT4 graphics in GT5? :)

Maybe the 300 same Nissan Skylines will have the same cockpit view and not some different buttons in every different model.

We´ve got 800 cars from all GT games so far! ALL GT cars so far! I bet they all will look brillant! I think most of them will have cockpit view!

Wasn´t the most supercars we´ve seen in the videos also in GT4? And they are now premium? Or standard models?

Premium? Standard? Wasn´t this car in GT4? (I really don´t know)
