I agree with Talon here. Apparently this is a standard car. I think it's beautiful. There may be no interior but the driver is still visible and somehow they may still have managed to put a dash and a steering wheel in it...

Edit: And that steering wheel is already visible too

Its not a standard car, the only standard cars we saw were in the replay video. That chalenger is a premium model from the E3 demo.

According to the front page all the screenshots containing the muscle cars are from standard cars.

And there must be at least some screenshots of standard cars because we're already approaching the 200 by now

Here are the pictures from the GT5 demo with Premium cars.https://www.gtplanet.net/70-gran-turismo-5-screenshots-top-gear-track-nurburgring-nascar-more/

Like i said the only standard cars we saw were in that short clip that came out yesterday. With the audi R8 LM, Camaro SS (not Z28!!) and a few Chargers.

I was referring to the Eurogamer topic. I'm not going to argue about what's on the screenshots. You have to ask Jordan about that. He seems to know what he's writing.

Besides, it's entirely possible to reuse GT4 assets and get some really satisfying results. Just look at GT4's photo mode.

I think GT5 will consist of 800 excellent car models extended with 200 really excellent (and a bit overdone) ones. They say there will be 200 premium and 800 standard cars, not 200 standard and 800 pauper cars. Standard will still be of high quality.

Yes, i am happy about it. I really don't see what the complaining is about. They could have made 0 premium cars, but they didn't. they gave us 200.

I think the majority would be more than happy with the above, I know I am, but why oh why are they even considering including these sub-standard models, because thats what they are, sub-standard, the Premium models should be considered standard models for GT5.

Because there are people like me who still want to be able to experience the older cars from GT4 but with better and improved physics than comes with GT5. And on top of that the car movement/animation will have improved considerably over GT4 and you can already see it in the recent 'standard car" video. And the "sub-standard" model is every bit as good if not better than what you'll find in other games. And none of these games can quite replicate car movement and motion as well as GT5.

Here's SHIFT's

And Forza 3's

My goodness all of those screens look awesome (even the standard car screens)...even though my hatred of shift will not allow me to enjoy it's screens to the fullest. :grumpy:

I agree that GT's standard cars are up to par with the other games. 👍

No, I'm not happy about the 200 premium cars, and I come to GTplanet once a day specifically to say that.
I don't see why you wouldn't be happy with 200 Premium cars. Instead, you should say you're not happy with 800 Standard cars.
I know we keep repeating ourselves but knowing that 80% of cars are ported from previous GT's is depressing.
Don't understand why they would do that. They should just put in the most requested and favored cars and remodeled them. Well,
they probably have with all the Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Super GT car's, NASCAR, etc...

I guess that's why they only fed us with those cars and not the ones we were requesting to see because the fact that they don't look anywhere as good as the rest of the game.

I'm happy with the 200. What I'm not happy about is all the people who seem to think that PD has been slacking in their work on GT5. Do people really think that the perfectionist known as KY doesn't want to have all the cars modeled at the premium level? Of course not. They simply cannot get it all done by November 2.

This reminds me of the outcry over damage last September, which many believed led to delaying the release of the game. Be careful of bitching too much, or maybe PD will listen and delay the game again.

.I posted a link in another thread from a reviewer who stated that the 800 + standard cars still used all of the processing power of the PS3 .

That's total bull. They must be incredibly unoptimized if that's true. If the standard cars use all of PS3s power, then how in the heck does PS3 run races with the Premium cars that have at least ~10,000 times the amount of polygons (GT4 cars used 4000-6000, GT5 Premium cars use 400k+)?

The GT4 cars used 4000 polygons. The standard cars in GT5 use far more, I read somewhere they have half the polygon count of premium cars, but I don't have a link to qualify that unfortunately. :indiff:

That said, the standard cars definitely use more than 4000polys.

Oh yes, I was just using the 4000-6000 as a base figure. We had better hope they've added some polys in since then! But even then, what would they have, 50-60k or so? Which would be dumb, honestly, because I've seen game mods with 9-10k polygon cars modeled with incredible detail, accuracy, AND full interiors.

I don't think they look all that out of sync. They seem quite detailed.

These are all standard cars.

They look reasonable to me.

Yeah, I don't think there's anything particularly "wrong" with them... but this is Gran Turismo, it should be above and beyond, which the premium cars are.

I'm over the initial shock, and, really, it actually works well for me because the WRC cars will be premium and have all the nice features.

Sony just should have said nothing. That way you guy's wont be sitting here griping about this until November. Don't be so quick to talk everything down. You will end up ruining the game when it does come out.

Man, where do you guys get such powerful rose-colored glasses? It's 2010, cars with black tinted windows and generic, non existant interiors are extinct in every other corner of the racing game world.

And better yet, I cannot wait to see all the inevitable "X car is premium but Y car isnt, WTFBBQ RAAAAAAAAAAAGE" threads. :D

My thoughts are that I've been playing GT on PSP since last October to unlock 800 cars in GT5. I was looking forward to seeing all those cars finally realized with full interiors, or minus the interior, but with full GT5 "premium" exterior treatment. Now I am only getting a small percentage of that.

Thanks for the 1000 number, but it will be a constant reminder of what could have been. Why has it taken this long to let us understand what premium and standard really meant? It was a back and forth kind of "don't worry we got it covered" type of beating around the bush. Now there's these cars that PD didn't have time to bring up to KAZ's standard of what he wants GT5 to be.

Well, guess this means GT6 will be able to promote with 1000+ "Premium Cars"!👍

I'll take 200 of GT5 premium cars (as they are currently known to be) over any other racing title. Good work PD. Looking forward to November.

Every other corner of the racing world without a 1000 car game library? Quite.

These images IMO shows the GT5 standard cars are on par with every other racing game. Don't get me wrong the standard cars are no where near PD full capabilities The premiums are proof of that, but the standards are right up their with all the games i currently play now. Thank you PD 👍

200 premium and 800 stardard < 400-500 cars wiht interiors and overall detail somewhere around Forza 3.

I just wish that they ditch this "splitting the game" in the time GT6 comes. 500 premium models by that game, please.

^^^ Yeah!GT6 will be ultimate GT game.500-600 cars, more tracks, day/night for all tracks, maybe weather, PORSCHE...whoa....
