How can we be disappointed with GT4 ... if we haven't even played it yet?

And if this is about Ferrari and Porsche, watch out!

who the hell would want to turn it off anyway? do you make it a habbit to crash into other cars or walls when you drive your car? listen to yourself outloud before you make a stupid comment.

oh, i forgot to add, there will be a game for guys like you, it's called "Gran Turismo for boys" you can pretty much skip this one if you want to be a mediocre driver, and get that one when it's released. this game isn't burn out, crashing shouldn't even allow you to continue racing.
 
Haven't got it yet (or a PlayStation 1 or 2, Gran Turismo or game console, just a pc)

Am I disappointed? I'm not qualified to answer that yet.

I love the fact that there are so many cars and the fact the the old 'ring' & Le mans are in - thats tops!

Those 900 degree wheels are pretty cool, although it would've being fantastic if the pedals came with a clutch and a real manual box that could be modefied depending on whether your car was a 4, 5 or 6 speed - I know moding a manual gearbox sounds a bit much, but there is actually one of these available for the PC.

I'm a HUGE Porsche 911 fan - so obviously its a negative in my book that it hasn't being included, however - the fact that 'Ruf' is in ALMOST makes up for it (The 'CTR Yellowbird' is awesome...anyone who hasn't got a copy of the 'Faszination On The Nurburgring' video should grab it!)

Dashboards would have being sensational (like in NFS Porsche 2000), but with 700 cars, I'll admit this is probably asking for a bit much.

No - I'm really looking forward to GT4.

Based on everything I've heard over the years, It'll be terrific. ie. realistic handling etc. etc.

I think one thing I'll be really paying a lot of attention to will be the engine sounds and how they compare to their real life counter-parts. ie. McLaren F1 - I hope they have done this car's fantastic engine some justice.

One car that definately deserves to be in (especilly when the 'old' ring and Le mans are in) is the record breaking Porsche 956.

I know that Porsche isn't available because they are licenced to EA, but one way around the licencing problem it that the 956 was later developed by a number of different companys like Konegg - wrong spelling I think (ie. same thing with the McLaren F1...in GT4 its a BMW.)

One track that would have being nice would have being Australia's version of the old 'ring' - Bathurst or Mt Panorama New South Wales...its a legendary circuit, its almost like a religious event when the V8 Holden/Ford Supercars race there once a year. Its a very similar environment to perhaps the Italians with all their Ferrari flags at the Monza F1 event - but, as much as I love Bathurst being an 'aussie' and the fact I've driven around it and know how good it is, given the choice between it and the 'old' ring in Germany, I'd go with the Nordschliefe everytime - it is simply the ultimate, the holy grail of race tracks.

One other think I like is that the 110bhp turbocharged '83 Honda City Turbo II is in.

I own a 56bhp normally aspirated '86 Honda City Pro T. Although it would have being nice fot it to be in to, its ok as theres a very similar little honda called a G something or other.

Besides - It won't matter for very long as I plan to turn my car into a 110bhp little hottie anyway.
 
Surely, all you whiners (like me) really can't criticise it cos we haven't played it. Then again, all you people who haven't got the game yet and are praising it can't really. how do you know that it is a great game or a bad one when you haven't even played it? :grumpy:

We'll just have to be patient and find out for ourselves. Call me cynical, but I am not believing any bodys opinion on this game til I have it!
 
The only thing which I don't like is i'm unable to read the Japanese text in my copy of Gran Turismo 4 lmoa
Apart from that I loooooooooooooveeeeeeeeeee it
If ya don't like it don't play people, go play pacman on ya Atari 2600 or read a book or something!!!!!!
 
Well, I've been going through GT2 recently and its lack of great cars and PS1 graphics, antything could be better. All the other GT's on PS2 equal GT4 I think. The problem with GT's is that they are released so infrequently that they need these little updates to keep them up with the competition.
 
I don't have the game but according to what I read, the answer is a big YES.
Why? here are the main points:

- Car list: Too much Japanese cars, too much 50 bhp cars, many cars that were highly probable turned out to be absent, butching of the american cars...as always.

- Lack of 2 player garage battle

- Lack of an analog tacho in 3rd person view (very bad)

- Bonus cars don't pay when sold (WTF?)

- Where are the 200 promised events?

-Nurb, La sarthe coool, where are other real race tracks?(outside Japan I mean)

- AI is not better at all...

- Nitro in all races (GT4 the rice of your life?)

- car sounds only slightly improved (Meaning Corvettes sounding like a hair drier)

and this list may get longer as I get the game (if it comes to America one day, wich I doubt). I won't import it for sure and maybe wait till its 30 bucks in 6 months (I'm now used to wait).

The game will be good but all these less or more important gaps adding creates a little disappointment in the end.
 
disappointed with GT4? nope. only disappointed that i cant read Chinese... have to keep running into my room to read the translations in this forum.

completing a clean lap of the 'ring is one of the most rewarding things in GT4.

cannot wait to unlock le mans.

The way the American Cars we're Butchered is Rediculous (read the sound clip forum) the "American Muscle" sounds in the game are Pathetic, I mean do you really think that a Chevelle 440 is going to sound like A Mazda Miata? NO, Its pathetic the effort PD put into The American Muscle Heritage. For the love of god guys The mid 60s early 70's we're littered with Sports cars, Some Memoriable and Great.

So indead of paying Homage to what some people call "Cars that we're made to go in a straight line" he cuts their sounds In half, and Cant even model a Decent 69 SS, will this game Dissapoint? 🤬 No, it will be great, will I feel Better about myself when I see a Nissan Skyline Pass A Hemi Cuda 440? Or A Super Bee? No, I have to Accept it and Nod that there are some people out there that Like to flood the world with their views as "the greatest car ever made"

there are 46 cars including Cadallac, Buick, Cheverlet, Ford, Pontiac

Some of them producing the Greatest Sports cars ever made, Firebird, Camaro, Mustang, GTO, GSX, and Gran Turismo 4 pays a Hiddeous Historical Accuracy to all of them, The Camaro SS model is just A Copy of the Z28, The Mustang Gets 3 incarnations out of all of its popularity from 64 1/2 to 2005, for ever 1 model of a Nissan Skyline a Mustang has 4, Roush, Saleen, Bullit, Mach I, Mclarin, Boss, Cobra, Cobra R, Etc etc.

I do not Hate this game, Do not get me wrong, flame me if you want, whatever, but this game is nothing but a Biased Outlook of a Nissan man, 74 cars for One single company, while 5 companies combined struggle to make over half, I was wrong when i said that I think that Instead of saying "Driving Experiance" or whatever on the box it should say "As if you we're driving a nissan!"

I finally Lost it when I asked about how many American Cars we're in the Used car lot, and I got an Answer of "Not Many" This games representation of Nissan Is disgustingly Apparent, Congrats to all you other countries who cant drive the car that you wish in GT4 because they added that "one extra skyline with the Police lights on it" You Nissan guys should really take this game to Pride, because to American Muscle Car Enthusiests this game is a joke.

Actually, the Chevelle 454 In the game sounds damn close to it's real life variant. Im not sure how man 454's you have been around in life, but I think you'd agree. Admittedly, most American cars at the time were designed for straight line performance, not turning. Of course today, that can be fixed.

No I realize that 49 Skylines is a bit much. Im not complaining though. It's not my game, I didnt make it.

But thats the thing Gran Turismo is all about tuning, if you know how to properly tune a car and put money into good tires it doesnt have to be for "straight line performance" And even if thats not the case, from what I've seen there is 1 Drag Race Map in the game, if thats what they are so good at then they should've at least put more effort into that mode, its almost a joke, putting a Camaro SS with the proper paint / stripes, it doesnt even have the SS badge in the middle of the grill.

So what, the games made in japan, its distributed all over the world and marketed as "The ultimate driving experiance" There should be NO Car that is greater then the other, it should all account to tunning instead of completely degenerating an entire Generation of the BEST sports cars ever made in my opinion, fine there are 49 skylines, whatever, thats his own thing, but in doing that they should've realized that the game was going to need some SERIOUS balancing.

They make the "muscle car era" look like a joke, defining 5 or so cars out of that era is impossible, especially if you try to put up that small number of cars against the massive ammount of Skylines.

Like i said, there are around 46 cars for the Major US Companies (ford, Pontiac, Cheverlet, cadallac, buick) ford, pontiac, buick and cheverlet especially produced some of the fastest coolest looking cars in the mid 60s to early 70's, to me it looks like they we're completely looked over "to add that extra skyline with the differant paint and 2 more hp) its like mocking us, I know other countries have to feel the same about their representation, Its a Japaneese game released world~wide, to me, if the game was delayed another year to balance it out fine, it'll make it that much more polished, Instead It looks like we're going to have to settle with a game that Have very little multiplayer, an astonishing ammount of cars that are Completly imbalanced, and misrepresented, just because of The Creators Opinions that Nissans are the fastest greatest cars ever made.


and omlo this isnt to start a fight or anything but god looking at the US used car list is pathetic.

We are basically saying the same thing. I own a '71 Oldsmobile Cutlass S. I was moreso refering to "tuning" in real life, but I was using it as an example that after tuning your car in the game, you should be able to keep up with those Skylines. In regards to drag racing, their could be 0 drag racing maps, and you wouldnt see me losing sleep:D As for botching the Camaro, I guess put yourselves in thier shoes. They are familiar with and are comfortable with their domestic market cars, the same way all the Camaro aficionados are with their Camaros. If you were to develope a sim game with cars from all over, chances are, you'd botch a few Japanese cars. I'll agree that the balance of the game is jeopardized when you have 49 Skylines in it. 49 Models of ANYcar is overkill.

I'll agree that representation of the muscle car era could have had a few more offerings from the big three, but thats alot of bricks they'd have to test:) I was dissappointed that they didnt include the older Bentley myself.:D
 
I'm very glad that we are on the same page :) I didnt want to tick you off, Its just amazing they put a Buick GNX in, that COMPLETELY surprised me, thats probably the most surprising car they added in the game, I think that there should've been at least 3 or 4 more mustangs added, I'd like to see some pics of the supposid Boss 429, I saw it on the master car list but havent seen any pics, I hope they did it right at least :)

There's a billion shoes in this world, but not always a pair for everyone.
 
For people like you they'll make A side add for Gran Turismo called "The Sky~Line is the limit".

Enjoy.

Due out 2 weeks after the US release, it just makes the game easier for you by adding 10,000 HP Skylines with Superb Handling and instead of driving around the ring they fly.
 
Atm gt4 = Sw0ot, COZ ITS GOT HOLDENS! ive been waiting for the holden badge to appear on a gt since number 2 :drool: ! and finally, they have made the game for me.. and as to the drag rigs they rocked and also i hope the red spoon prelude is back.. that was my faourite car in gt2 💡
