I'm not emo personally (Not by dress, atleast), although I have helped one girl who attempted suicide get through her rough time.

From,
Chris.

It astonishes me the seriousness that people put behind such a ridiculous label; whether they consider themselves 'emo' or not. You are what you are; leave it at that.

I have the hair and the same taste in depressing music. But I don't like the idea of bleeding to death daily.

I don't think I'm Emo...I mean musically I definately don't think I am, since when was Foo Fighters a Emo or Gothic band? Clothing wise...Nope, I have no dress sense what so ever and frankly I don't care how other people see me so....

I don't have any personal probelms with Emo's or Goths I know several infact (more Goths than Emo's) and I think that if thats their atitude to live, let it be like that. There isn't going to be any thing you can do to change it. Believe me, I've tried thousands of times to some people but they won't change. Sure, stay friendly with them though. Most of them are very intelligent and even friendly people.

I also wish people would stop with sterotyping Goths and Emo's, not all Emo's hurt themselves.

I hate emo kids.

Why? What have they ever done to you? If a goth murdered your family, then that's understandable - but otherwise, why do you care about them enough to hate them?

If they're all as per the stereotype - depressive self harmers and suicidal - then surely your problem will take care of itself?

Not just aimed at you, deadlyz33, but at anyone who has said they hate emos.

I just don't get why someone should hate another group of people just because of the way the dress or act.

I think people are confusing the whole "genre" of people, music, style, etc altogether. I like to listen to a fair bit of emo music, but I don't have the crazy hair and makeup around my eyes. But I will do the tighter fitting jeans and rock tees because I like the look. But that by no means makes me "emo" either.

*sigh*

Maybe the emo-haters are emo themselves and only want to lash-out because they don't understand how other people feel?

I dislike them, mainly because of the way they act. I couldn't care less when I'm not around them, its just when I have to be in fairly close contact with them, like in class. That's the only time I care enough to feel that way, otherwise I've got better things to think about or concentrate on.

And from my experience, most of them are attention whores.

Aren't we all attention whores to some extent?

Befriend an emo kid and you might like it. They're good kids, usually pretty smart, generally have a better taste in music than those stupid kids who watch MTV all day. I'll give 'em that.

And they can give you tips on how to do your hair...

I'd agree we all are to some extent, its just the extent that most emo kids are at, from what I've seen at least.

And I'm sure that if I can't stand them from afar, close contact isn't something I'll enjoy.

Well....Most channels are better than MTV. Although musically wise I would say I probably watch more "emo" channels like Scuzz and Kerrang.

My brother is a prime example, he recently bought a My Chemical Romance album, MCR are seen as a Emo band. But just because my brother likes them enough to buy the CD almost everyone at school in his year group is seeing him as Emo. If your asking me it's not right.

Emo's have some really, and I mean really good taste in music. Infact most the songs they like I actually do like. Although I don't express it loudly and hide behind my shield of being a Foo Fighters fan.

There are things I dislike, but I'm not going to get all emotional, cut myself and/or kill myself over it. lol

lol, kinda funny coming from the EMO supporter.

Yes, but there's structured attention whoring, when you need to lead, wish to make a point, or attract someone, and then there's doing it just cause you can.

I've known people who have the emo image, and those who are emo by personality.

Emo by images is fine generally as it's simply a fashion decision. I have no problem with those seeking attention by what you wear, it's prefferable against seeking attention due to what you're not wearing.

But many who are emo by personality seek to gain attention in frustrating ways. Use of networking sites to broadcast how depressed they are, occasionly punctuated by how they are going to "end this pain". Girls especially, starting a confrontation with someone else just so people pay attention more. An example of this is when one started a fight with the class slag, everyoen knew she was a slag, she knew she was a slag, but she wasn't going to accept someone calling her a slag unprovoked.

I understand that some of these people may suffer with personal issues, but atleast financially they're quite well off. Several pairs of DC's and Converse's and countless emo-designer hoodies don't come cheap.

There's the average person who sees the glass as half full.
There's the emo kid who thinks the glass is half empty.
There's me who wants to tip the glass over.
